Yes comrades.
So . . . Rio? Fuck me! What an unbelievable night. A truly special gig. Not because of anything I did I hasten to add - I played AND sang like shit!! But them kids man!?!? it was just a privilege to have been there never mind on the stage AND I got in for free(I know the bass player innit?)!!!!!!
The green and gold balloons were out in force, More weird and wonderful banners (there was even a "Noel or die" one . . . which was nice!. Tthose kids were singing the guitar solos and lost Oasis classics in-between the songs . . . they were even doing "the Poznan" at one point!! Now I'd like to think I've done a fair few momentous gigs down the years but that one goes straight into the top 10 . . . no question.
Stopped quite by chance at a random bar on the way back to the hotel and fuck me if we didn't have one of the funniest, bestest nights out in a long time. Not sure what the bar was called but it was on the Copacabana. A waiter in shades kept putting down these bowls of nuts and shouting "these Viagra!!" They were in fact just nuts. A comrade of mine who shall remain nameless but you can refer to as "truffles" was convinced that everyone in there was either a prostitute or a pickpocket or in some cases both!! Top, top night though. Didn't even feel too bad the next day either, which made it even better.
Brazil . . . you NEVER, EVER disappoint.
Obrigado.

Yes comrades, it’s been a while eh? Lots to tell so let's go all the way back to Vegas.
That day was a fucking nightmare. Iree Nancy and our 2 princes had arrived in Los Angeles for a little holiday so I decided to fly to Vegas on the day of the gig. Not something one would ordinarily do as it can be fraught with danger. So . . . got to the airport on time, checked in and all that, sat around for 2 bastard hours until some vagina announced that the flight had been cancelled!! Not to worry though thought I, we still have plenty of time. We'll just get the next one . . . can't we?? Nah . . . the next one was fully booked leaving me stranded!! Had to negotiate trying to get my bags OFF the airplane that had been cancelled only to be told that they'd already been booked on to the flight after that!!! So . . . had to leave my bags at LAX and hire a car to drive me 6 BASTARD HOURS through the desert to try and make the gig! The scenery was incredible and I did get to stop at a Burger King (I ain't been in one of those joints for YEARS!) which was nice . . . on't tell the wife though! Was supposed to be onstage at 9pm. Didn't arrive until 9:35. Walked straight in and onstage at 9:40!! Felt like Elvis . . . that may have been the burger though?!?! Great gig. Lot's of Brits, so it was a good laugh. There was a few roly-poly's in from Yorkshire. I know that because they kept chanting "YORKSHIRE,YORKSHIRE.." at every available opportunity. I bet their ex-wives would've been most proud!!!
Up early the next morning to drive 6 hours the other way back to the Coachella Festival again. They have it on twice now see? By the time we got there it was 114 degrees!!!!!! ONE HUNDRED AND FOURTEEN DEGREES!!!!!!! Holy fucking shit balls?
The gig went pretty much the same as the previous weekend. The night itself followed pretty much the same pattern. Not as chaotic but right up there all the same.
Drove back to LA the next day not feeling great. Spent the day discussing what we could remember about the night before which in my case was virtually nothing. Good job Nancy had her shit together or it could well have been consigned to the dustbin.
The next day I had a video shoot for my new single. That'll be the 5th off this album which is unprecedented in all my time making records. This album is fast becoming my "Thriller"!! I played the part of a slightly hungover grumpy northern taxi driver which is just as well as that's exactly what I felt like. I feel it's some of my best work and most definitely worthy of at least one Bafta. That actress Mischa Barton was in it too. Nice girl. City fan would you believe!?!?
You currently find me in Sao Paolo in the great nation of Brazil. Been on holiday the last week. In a place called Laguna beach. Paradise. Home of the most over-rated band in all of music . . . "The Beach Boys". Nice gaff though.

I actually prefer the demo version. The guitar sound is warmer and just sounds raw, like you said. Great tune!

So..comrades.
Where were we? San Diego? Strange place. Nice place. Very hot. Not much else to say about it really. It was an in and out job. The gig was a bit . . . a bit . . . a bit . . . I'm searching for a word here and I can't find it . . . a bit meh? That's what you young people say innit? Not earth shattering. Not shit. Just dull. Now that could be due to the crowd seemingly being a visibly older crowd than what we're being used to dunno . . . any way I've said too much we should move on.
Before I forget though I must give a shout out to the girls with the "jesters of malice” sign. It does give me a little chuckle that gear . . . and the Dalai Lama who was in town but sadly never came to the show (miserable little Buddhist monkey man!!!!) . . . anyway ENOUGH!!!!!!
Over-nighted it to Phoenix, Arizona after that. Now that place is fucking HOT,HOT,HOT!!! 95°F . . . lovely. Gig was pretty much the same as the night before. Uneventful in the extreme . . . apart from one fucking guy who kept shouting out at the top of his voice . . . "YOU'VE MADE IT MAN . . . YOU'VE CRACKED AMERICA MAAAAN!!!!" A quick glance up at the smattering of empty seats in the balcony would suggest otherwise I thought . . . but thanks anyway MAAAAN!!!
Legged it double early the next a.m. back to L.A. Iree Nancy, the Mighty I and Bunny Dread are on holiday there see? Had a nice day off at the funfair yesterday. I won a Smurf (not a real one) for the Mighty I by smashing fuck out of some frogs on the head with a mallet (again not real one's).
You currently find me at LAX waiting to board a flight to one of my most favourite places . . . . . . .
LAS VEGAS!!!!!!

Yes comrades . . . been a few days. Mexico was great . . . as always . . . I fucking love that place.
So . . . anyway . . . landed here in LA a few days ago. Can't remember what day it was. It was raining though . . . think it was Friday. Drove out to top old peoples home "Palm Springs" for that Coachella Festival. Nice drive. Stopped at a place that claimed that it served "world famous" milkshakes. I mean the date and banana one was a winner but . . . come on . . . I bet they ain't heard of them in Tanzania!!!
Coachella Festival goes against everything that festivals stand for in the sense that it's VERY FUCKING CLEAN. You get the sense that you’re at an entertainment facility, not a massive piss up in a field, which is essentially what most festivals are right? I mean I was body searched on the way in?!?!?!? Jesus.
The gig itself was great. Not sure whether the old Yankee-doodles liked it or not but I loved it. Played great, sang great and because we was on at 6:30 we got to legitimately wear shades onstage!!! Always a bonus. Did manage to catch Kasabian soon after in some tent or other and they fucking smashed it . . . might have been the best I've ever seen them . . . saying that, I was out of my fucking mind!! Spent the rest of the night marauding round the sight like a cross between that video "weekender" and that other video "smack my bitch up" having the time of our lives . . . there may have been some dancing in the dressing room (and if there was I do hope no-one's filmed it!) might also have bumped into an Arctic Monkey . . . then all of sudden BANG!!! I woke up back where I started . . . in my room in LA . . . 3 hours away!! What the fuck?
I very much look forward to doing it all again next Saturday.
Now I gotta go . . . I'm runnin' outta' change.
ONWARDS.

All of a sudden the lights started to sway . . . Yes comrades.
Been a colossal few days. Think the last time we spoke was just before the gig in Atlanta right?
And what a gig! I thought it was gonna be great the minute I set foot on the stage . . . incredible atmosphere, great sound, we played great. All in all a top, top, night. What made it for me was this little girl who stood on her seat in the front row and sang EVERY WORD to EVERY SONG for an hour and a half! She was only 8 years old!!!! (I know this because she gave me a note explaining that it was her first ever gig etc, etc). The NSPCC needn't worry . . . she was with a responsible adult . . . . Can't remember what she said her name was but she was cool as fuck anyway.
Left early the next day and flew to Mexico City. A couple of gigs preceded by 3 days off!!
Got a bit messy the first night. Too much mescal . . . which of course led to more mescal . . . what led to a late night and a quite filthy hang over. The next night we went to some cantina or other to watch some big football match between Chivaz and Americas. Utterly forgettable game. Think Americas won it late on 1-0. Fucking rubbish.
Can't remember what happened the day after that. Nothing maybe . . . dunno . . . anyway the day AFTER that was gig day which started off early with a press conference. Fairly uneventful stuff . . . the usual gear . . . Oasis . . . blah-blah . . . Liam . . . blah, blah. (kill me now!) I did get given a bottle of tequila though (which was nice). Sat and watched some kids in the main square flying home made kites after soundcheck . . . incredible. Not as incredible as the gig though . . . a truly special night.
Not as special as what happened the next day let me tell you. So, I'm half way through an interview for TV when all of a sudden the lights which were lighting the room gently started to sway from side to side and the door began to rattle slightly . . . . Now, I didn't take much notice of this until the camera man very softly and calmly said "we have to leave and go to the outside . . . there is an earthquake happening." Just like that!!!!!! So, we all get evacuated into the car-park and the whole place is just gently rocking back and forth . . . a bit like being on a boat . . . mad as fuck!! 6.9 on the Richter scale it was!!!! I loved it . . . my first earthquake.
The gig that night (last night in fact) was even more special than the one the night before. The support band got booed off!! BOOED OFF!!!!! I've never seen that in nearly 20 years . . . I loved that too!!!! I'll forever remember my own show for a funny scene with someone holding up a placard that said "NOEL WILL YOU MARRY ME?" Thing is it was actually a guy!!!!!!!! And he looked genuinely upset when I informed him I was already spoken for . . . what the fuck?? Funny though. We left the building in the middle of a downpour. The streets were teaming with water and they stunk of cabbage and piss . . . nice.
Which brings me to today. I'm back in my 2nd home Los Angeles. Doing that Coachella festival.
Looking forward to it.
ONWARDS.

I saw an episode from 2003 (I think) today, and Johnny Vegas drived their reasonable priced car, without having a driving license. So that's not the biggest problem, that Noel doesn't have a driving license.

Yes..well now then the gig in DC was OK. We ain't played for a couple of weeks so it always takes 3 or 4 gigs to get back into the groove so to speak. Our usual keyboard player (can't remember his name now) has stayed back home to help his wife have a kid, so his roadie has valiantly stepped into the breach to cover for him . . . . A bit of pain in the arse but we shall soldier on as best we can. Got a bit of a cold and all . . . with all that in mind the gig wasn't too bad. It was a good laugh anyway. Great crowd.
Bussed it overnight to the cultural centre of the middle of fucking nowhere, Columbus, Ohio. There is quite literally NOTHING going on here. Nothing to see. nothing to do. Had a gig here last night. Still not quite at full power but it was another fun night. Great crowd. They was chanting the stand-in keyboard players name by the end of the night . . . very funny (his name's Ben by the way).
Got a dirty little hangover today. Not nice, feel like a little lump of shit in fact but get on this . . . of all the people in all the world, have a guess who checked in to this hotel this morning? Go on have a guess . . . you'll never guess.................... only blimmin' Kasabian!!! What are the odds on that? Unbelievable!
Before I let you go I must tell you this story that has literally JUST happened to me. So . . . I'm just stood at some traffic lights waiting to cross the street when some guy slopes up to me . . .
"Hey man I don't mean to disrespect you”, (now that usually means you're about to be disrespected) “but you do realize you got a little 80's thing going on with your hair there?"
I was speechless.
"What do you call that style you got?"
I was without speech.
"You look like that . . . who was that muh-fucker pro-doocer who shot that bitch in the face?"
Erm..Phil Spector?
"Phil Spector! You look like Phil Spector!!"
Erm..thanks..(I don't know why I said thanks)
"Say . . . do you believe in Jesus?"
Seriously that just happened to me!!!!
I fucking love America.

Would anybody here be in to Kasabian if Oasis hadn't been into them? I started listened to them when Noel first mentioned them in an interview. And I genuinely love the band! I don't like them just because Noel and Liam likes them.

Gustaf Norén and Björn Dixgård from Mando Diao have released a new record. Under a new band/project, called Caligola. Hip hop beats, great pop melodies, and some rap. It don't sound like Mando Diao, but if you like them. You should have a listen to this album. It's pretty good.
Gustaf said in a swedish talkshow recently, that Mando Diao is going to release the next album this summer. In swedish, though. Unfortunately for you English fans...

es...
Well now it has been a long time hasn't it? About a week or so? Fuck knows. I'll try and recall some of the best bits for you.
Berlin!! Never really got to see much of that place down the years and if I did it was under cover of darkness. I had a much better look around this time though. Very beautiful indeed - the sunny weather might have had something to do with it, but to say it was virtually destroyed during that Second World War it still has some magnificent sights. The gig itself was great I think. I do remember the soundcheck being the the worst I've ever, ever done, truly appalling. The gig was mega though...oh yeah...and there was some bird down the front with a placard that read something like...PLEASE COME TO THE LEBANON! WE LOVE YOUR HIGH FLYING BIRDS!
The Lebanon eh? Might give that a miss...
Now...Munich? Not much going on there as I remember. Cold, wet and windy. The end.
Rome on the other hand was magnificent. Rome is magnificent, I fucking LOVE that place!! One of the greatest places on earth, no question. Pity I was working though. The sun was out, the streets were full, the only thing missing was my good lady wife, she'd have been in her element!!
The gig was equally as magnificent. Those kids break all kinds of records for the loudest, most passionate, most intense, most...most mostest fans in the world!! Crazy kids. They are mithering fuckers though..."one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign, one picture, please sign..."
...and that was just the hotel staff!!
Outside the gig they have A LOT of bootleg t-shirt stalls. I had to drive through them to get to the backstage area bit upon where I saw many, many t-shirts bearing my name and face etc. Right in the middle of one particular stall though was a t-shirt that simply said...SEXY BITCH!!
Now it remains unclear as to who or what this particular item was referring to. I'd like to think it may have had a little picture of me on the back...or my drummer!!
Took the train to Milan the day after that for a little one of those acoustic gigs I do from time to time. Not the best I have to say, I just wasn't in the mood somehow.
Caught another train to Zurich the next day. What a ride!! Up and over the Alps, magnificent scenery. T'was all too beautiful (as Steve Marriott once sang). Unfortunately the gig was a shocker. Without doubt the worse I've ever done, just piss poor. The crowd loved it though which somehow made it even worse. An unsatisfactory end to a great little tour.
You currently find me in the most depressing hotel in all of Europe. Flying home today...10 days off!!
See you in America.
ONWARDS.
GD.
