He says that whenever he’s got a record out, I really hope the oasis album is nothing like council skies Actually, Council Skies is a great album, full of hooks and inspiration. It's just not an Oasis album (at all) Not for me but music is subjective

I dont buy the idea that you cant be good, wild and crazy when you grow old. Its an idea that people put into their own head. Just like you are dumb when you are young. Just no. That's the essence of growing old, trying to keep your young mind. Noel was very young between 2017 and 2019, and got brutally old in 2020-2022 now he needs to capture that youth again. Just like Liam is younger now than he was in 2014. Obviously you cant capture the sound of the 90s, and Oasis wont be able to make a potential new album sound like MG or BM. But it could be huge, surprising and completely wild. Why not ? There is no limit to creativity and no age to be good. There's a few artists that are still up there (not "better" but good different) in their 30s, 40s and 50s than they were in their 20s I agree it's not an age thing, but a lot of creativity has to do with curiosity and wonder. That sort of innocence attached to the craft of what you do drives you and if you can maintain that in amongst ageing and extreme wealth, then you can still offer those talents. This sounds mad, but I genuinely think luxury and materialism to such an excessive extent dulls the sense of wonder and discovery essential to art. Now you can argue for the many musicians who found fame and fortune yet continued to make great work well into older age. But those artists were likely not so indebted to the glamour and instant gratification that was accessible through their fortune. They still had those bigger questions lingering in their mind, and still maintained a sensitivity to perhaps quieter, other worldly elements of beauty. But for the more mortal creator, that luxury lifestyle in all its crass glory can remove you from the nuances and subtleties of life that fuels creativity. And it's maybe the reason why Noel never really came close to capturing the magic of peak Oasis again. I agree with. Noel was equally doing it for the money and music. But Noel (and he's a big hero of mine) is "limited" musically, eg he will always write in his own style. He will never write something complex or amazing on the piano, or create a full orchestra part with 30 instruments. He's not that kinda of artist. The EP and WBTM were a nice attempts at something else but it was still kinda copying the sound of other people. His childhood heroes. He needs outside help and that's fine. He's a great songwriter and was indeed probably too much into his comfort zone for a long while. That's also a problem for Liam, he never pushed himself and relied only on his born talent. A bit like a gifted footballer that doesn't think he needs training and practicing. He could have gone, way, way higher.

Risk taking doesn't come naturally to people- same way it's harder to duck off and travel the world for shits and giggles once you've got a mortgage. David Holmes made Noel take big risks (comparatively) and the results were, I think, great. But Council Skies was definitely a safer bet- but there was a disconnect with selling copies of it. Gonna hurt the ego. It might have stemmed from people being put off by WBTM
