My most upvoted Reddit comments are about McLovin, George Harrison, Nirvana/Dave Grohl, The Verve/Shoegaze, Eurotrip quote, Johnny Marr and Neil Young.

Never followed The Verve terribly closely. But I've always thought that this performance was absolutely immense...
Talk about Biblical.

Reading Paolo Hewitt's Getting High and there's a part where he talks about Noel when he was twenty (p102). If I lived in a bigger city you could swap Noel's name to mine and it'd still make sense. Noel's losing interest in football because music is his new passion, going to the gigs, etc. I feel exactly the same. It used to be football 1st, music 2nd but it's now the other way around. "On 29 May 1988 Noel was standing upstairs in the International Two waiting to see The Stone Roses. He had a spoonful of speed up his nose and a huge packet of it lying in his pocket. He knew full well that the next day he would have to be up early, working for Kennedy's, laying pipes for British Gas, and all with the hangover from hell. But you know what? He didn't give a fuck. Tonight he was out to party."

Hmm, I have 7 years to release one of the biggest selling debut albums... I guess there's still hope! I don't have a younger brother, though.

I’ve watched so many of Noel’s interviews over the last decade, and been on this forum so much that I have long since adopted Noel’s speaking style (which is fairly distinctive) in how he tells stories, and this includes in my therapy sessions. It’s outrageous, but a very interesting observation. guigsysEstring

That is partly how we form our connections to family, regions and national bonds. We have schools to teach children how to mimic sounds and writing, they are called English classes (or whichever language is being taught) so what you are doing could be interpreted as simply mimicking your surroundings. Regarding your accent it reminds me of my sister-in-law's friend, who herself is Hampshire born to two American parents, and returned with them to the USA as a teenager. She sounded American to most British people but in Chicago the people who met her swore she was English- well until they met myself and a few of my associates on a visit to her a few years ago and were able to compare accents! Her accent to me sounds like a watered down generic Mid West accent, perhaps that of a European actor not quite able to mimic a genuine American accent correctly. I can see why she thought she sounded like her parents and equally why the people of Chicago thought she was a Brit trying to fit in TBH- I suppose it depends very much on individual perception.

I love the taste of cheap beer. I presume you are over your 'not wanting to drink' phase of about a week ago then?

Last lesson cancelled, yes! Gonna keep writing (done four pages so far today, really in a rhythm) and listen to some jazz music. Incidentally, if anyone has any jazz recommendations, I'd really appreciate it as I'm just getting into the genre.

Incidentally, if anyone has any jazz recommendations, I'd really appreciate it as I'm just getting into the genre. The obvious ones:- A Love Supreme- John Coltrane Bitches Brew- Miles Davies Mingus Ah Uhm- Charles Mingus Maiden Voyage- Herbie Hancock Ellington at Newport- Duke Ellington For something a bit less well known maybe 'The Legendary Scott LaFaro', a posthumous release of arguably one of the most talented jazz bassists ever who died tragically young at the age of 25 in a 1961 car accident. You could also check out his work with the Bill Evans Trio and from the older jazz greats explore offshoots such as Jazz Fusion
