The Democrats are winning this election, and it won't be close - Obama's victory margins in 2008 may very well be surpassed. This wins the worst take in this thread. 2008 Obama numbers, really?

Trump does not know he has just declared war on the CJNG by saying he'll close the border How will I get my Ford Bronco then? Actually closing the border obviously would create massive problems for good coming in, but also I know there's some (few?) elderly people that cross the border for medical care, so those people would suffer. But, I imagine it can also be worked in some way. Tunnels as well I'm kinda glad Juan Brujo is dead so he didnt see this.

Harris should have supported the enforcement of international law, acknowledged the genocide and promised an arms embargo. This isn't the fault of non-voters or third party voters. This is the fault of democratic politicians not doing their job, continually failing to represent their voters. 77% of democrats wanted an arms embargo. 40% of conservatives wanted an arms embargo. Alienating your minority voters, like Arabs, which indirectly effects all voters who identify as people of color, doesn't play well. It pisses everyone off. It was Harris's job to promise that she would represent us. She failed and the voters responded. This must be a learning moment. These people don't deserve our votes just because they have a little D or R next to their name. They must represent how we want the country to change. They must earn our votes. -Ending genocide -Enforcing international law -Medicare for All -Leftist immigration policies -Abortion codification -A minimum wage = to a living wage and adjusted for inflation -A non-existent homeless population (housing for all). -An end to wars (including end to our imperialism) -Get BIG fucking money OUT of politics. Israel is the greatest offender among these. Start with FDR's 2nd bill of rights. It was a good idea then. It's a good idea now. Don't let shitlibs (corporate liberals) get into the primary. Get people into the primary with a fucking backbone willing to actually tackle America's flaws. The fact that these assholes wouldn't support the SIMPLE position of ending an ongoing genocide paid for by our tax dollars was the big fucking surprise that this country was utterly doomed. Good luck if you think the Dems lost because of Palestine, and massive good luck if you actually think Trump is going to go harder on Israel. The dems lost because the dems didn't listen to a majority of their voters.
If you don't listen to voters, how can you expect to win? Look at the exit polling.
Black Americans swung for Trump. Americans making under 100k (middle class) swung Trump. Both groups are economically in bad places. But we had democratic politicians claiming the economy is great and functioning well. Well, it's not great for low income and middle class voters. And they spoke to that pre-election, but were dismissed.
So of course that pissed them off.
I was not under any illusion that Trump was going to do better on Gaza. I've been SHOUTING from the rooftops for the last fucking year for Biden and Harris to LISTEN to their voting base. I've been encouraging fellow Americans and people around the world to pressure Biden and Harris into doing an arms embargo. They lost Arabs. They lost people of color. They lost the middle class. And now here we are.
That list above are all the places where they utterly failed their base. And it's resulted in Trump. Don't say I didn't warn you. I fucking did. I tried my best to spread the word.
But the key here is to NOT blame voters or non-voters. This is what they WANT you to do. Because if you're bickering with your fellow victims, you're not focusing the blame on the politicians responsible for this fiasco. Blame the shithead politicians who don't care enough about us to LISTEN to our concerns and address them honestly.
If politicians can't represent their voters before an election, they won't after they've won. This could have easily been avoided had they just represented the majority of their base and earned more votes in the process.
Instead we get dems campaigning with the fucking Cheney's. We get Bill Clinton getting on stage and shaming people for standing up against a genocide.
Fuck these corporate democrats. Stop voting for them. Period. How many elections do we have to lose because of corporate democrats failing to do their jobs? Why wasn't Trump prosecuted first thing for Jan 6th? He should never have been allowed to run again. But the democrats failed us on that too. We had four years to make sure that a felon couldn't qualify for any office in America. But fucking a pornstar took precedence? Come on ...
At the end of the day these corporate shitheads are richer than we are and profited from all of this. While we toil, they live in luxury mansions. They don't actually care if Trump wins.Their lives don't change one bit. If they cared, they would have fought harder for votes. All they had to do was represent the majority of their base and they would have won. It's because they didn't that we lost this election.
It's the politicians faults. Americans were fighting. Politicians didn't. Never forget.
Rant over.

Stop blaming voters and start blaming politicians.
This is their mess.
Voters only respond to bad campaigns in a way that they believe is in their best interest (irrespective of it's actually in their best interest).
Harris ignored voters and she lost because of it. Harris did what she was told by mainstream democrats, like Biden, Clinton and Obama. Harris should have ignored these asshats and instead based her campaign around what the majority of her voting base wanted for the future of America. It's how FDR won four terms.

Philosopher John Rawls proposed a theory of justice that we design a society not knowing who in that society we may end up being. He called it the veil of ignorance. It's meant to equalize conditions and create a fair state of living for all.
When politicians start embracing that concept, the United States will improve. Until then, we are on the decline.

Rant over. Preach. In my existential doomscrolling dread last night, I boiled Kamala's loss down to these points: - Biden's health - Addressing the economy - GOP standing by Trump after Jan. 6 (the overall inaction after J6 as well) - Trump's "any press is good press" approach compared to Democrats' more traditional, calculated approach People I think really lost trust in Democrats after Biden had that awful debate performance that exposed his health decline, and then elevating Kamala after the primary process was done. I think that made people balk at their concerns about democracy which, along with reproductive rights, was their key issue, which were fair and very valid issues to go hard on. But I think it led to people feeling like their very real concerns about the economy were being ignored. And even when Kamala got in the race, she had so much momentum at the start but then it just died, while the usual "Did you hear what Trump said!?", "Did you see Trump fellated a mic stand?!", "Trump worked at McDonalds!" cycle rolled on while Kamala was business as usual and always a step behind him. Immigration I think played somewhat into it but I don't know if it was enough to swing the election, neither do I think Israel/Palestine had as big of an impact as some people may think.

I only hope that the major coronary attack of stroke that is headed Trump’s away is soon in arriving, putting the grotesque clown out of action. would that not mean the VP takes over? trump is a fuckin idiot but anyone with half a brain can see it, that boy vance on the other hand... that's a slimy lookin shite Yeah, but there’s not a cult of personality around Vance. He’s a deeply unlikable and unimpressive figure, scarcely a better public speaker than Elon Musk. If he was the main man MAGA would surely collapse in on itself in no time.

Will they learn from this mistake? Probably not ... Might not even have the chance now ...

MAGA is all about Trump and there really isn't anyone else like him or anyone who is come even remotely close to him. Like Speaker Mike Johnson, Vance is the perfect supporting cast member in the MAGA movement. They've molded him into as the normal archetype who doesn't say much but is in the perfect position to support the agenda and get it through, unlike Pence and McCarthy who had a way about themselves that didn't work for the movement. The direction I could see MAGA going is with someone like Nikki Haley taking over and playing into identity politics. I even think if the country is in a good place and if we're looking at a 2028 election, JD Vance might even be the guy to run on the coattails of Trump, a la George H.W. Bush. The Democrats just need to clean house on their strategists, advisors and communication staff, and lean more into grassroots coalitions and the concerns of everyday people. The party could've swept the 2010s and 2020s, hell even the 21st century, by doing a better job at that. Woof.

I don't understand why someone would want to vote for a criminal like Trump who's not even right in the head. In fact it's beyond me. Forget about that, let's say he wins, he won't run for reelection, so who will be the nominee in 4 years? The days of McCain and Romney are long gone, so whoever is next will be cut from the same cloth, probably more extreme in some areas. True but the fact is he has sadly won.
