Sounds incomplete. Needs a middle eight. These fade outs are the weakest of sauce. It’s not bad, though. Refraining from a numerical rating for now.

How can anyone compare this to any song written by Gem? Gem wrote some pretty good tunes but they're quite different tbh
btw just another rainbow has grown on me really hyped for the rest of the album and for some live rendition of the songs

It’s jangling, British guitar pop. Such as Squire made in the The Stone Roses. It sounds like John Squire to me. Kurstin learnt to copy all these artists too. So its basically the other way around. Mouth has not only invented a situation but a conversation as well to justify why he doesn't like it! People can just not like something, it doesn't have to be somebody else's fault.

New on here but been loitering on this thread for a while trying to gather as much info on this epic collaboration!
Absolutely loving the 2 songs so far! I really do think this LP has the potential to be one of my favourite LP’s of all time. The best frontman and voice of our generation, combined with the Hendrix of our generation who co wrote the greatest LP of all time, it’s no surprise to me if it does end up living up to the hype. I’d also make the point that it’s unheard of that a 61 year old is writing songs that still piss all over 99.99% of rock music of the last 20 years. You think back to even all the greats and their quality of songs fell off a cliff after 40. Noel being one of the major exceptions. Absolutely love his latest LP! I love LG and Noel equally TBH and never taken sides. I love them both and always have.
I know the songs in general have been extremely well received but I don’t get some of the criticism aimed towards the songs as “not original, seen it all before” etc coz the very music I wanted this collaboration to yield is songs that are a mix of The stone roses/the Beatles/oasis (my 3 favourite bands). I didn’t want a reggae LP off them. The chorus for “Mars to Liverpool” for example is every bit as good as any chorus on “revolver”. How is that a bad thing?
On beady eye they never really excited me much though I still got both LP’s. They did though in my opinion have some absolutely astounding songs including the epic four letter word and the amazing cover “sons of the stage” which should’ve been a single.
On LG’s solo records what tends to happen is I love them when they come out but then after 6 months or so I only put 3 or 4 songs off each LP on any playlist. I love wall of glass, come back to me, all I need, the river, everything’s electric, once etc but why oh why did LG have his best solo song “invisible sun” as just a bonus track! And “misunderstood”! Both brilliant songs. As silly as acquiesce, master plan a b sides.
Anyway, thanks to the person on here who put those clyped up links in the chat👍

Hoping for LGA remix of MTL.
Interesting how 2 songs can divide a camp of people who dribble at the hint of anything Liam related.

The Best and only memorable thing Beady Eye ever did is the guitar solo in "Soon Come Tomorrow".
Nothing else they did comes close to that 30-40 seconds on the back end of that song.

oasisserbia If you’re so bored of his tunes then fair enough. Don’t listen and don’t bore us to death by constantly whinging how bored of them you are I don’t listen to Noel much anymore so I don’t bother posting in the motel section anymore and I don’t bother buying tickets for his gigs anymore. Liams new tunes won’t be for everyone but constantly moaning about them Is boring as hell. Its like you want attention or something I don't have a problem to admit that I'm bored because I've been sitting at home for a few days due to illness.
On the other hand, I didn't come here to hate, with an open heart and high expectations, I was eagerly waiting for this release.
I've been following this forum for years and I am reading other topics as well. I don't just come here when a new song or album is released, I come here to discover other music, see what books people recommend, discuss series, movies....
I listened to the song and shared my opinion on what I think about it. Just as others write that it's great, I wrote that I think it is 6/10 song.
I write one post and the next time when I come here, I see 10 notifications of people responding to my post where I said I didn't particularly like the song.
Then I try to explain why I don't like it so much, so it doesn't seem like I'm just hating for no reason and try to have a normal conversation.
I don't see why all members here shouldn't express their opinions and why they would avoid other topics if they don't like something? Is it your belief that a good forum is one where everyone shares the same opinions and only positive remarks are expressed?
Besides, I don't take anything seriously, and I am half-joking 99% of time.

Well, I still enjoy all three of Liam's previous albums and still listen to them a lot. Anyway, no bonus songs on the new album then? On the Kaiser Chiefs I absolutely can't stand that band and I've never liked any of their songs at all.

Honestly baffling to see anyone comparing Mars To Liverpool to Beady Eye. The feel-good, pop-rock BE tunes (the likes of Iz Rite, I'm Just Saying and Millionaire came to mind – listening to any of them back-to-back with MTL really exposes how life-lacking the first mentioned feel) don't sound nearly as cool, infectious and melodic as this, from both a vocal and a instrumental standpoint. I could see it being the case for Just Another Rainbow, but for this one it's really surprising. Just my two cents, of course.

I find myself playing back some Beady Eye stuff from time to time.
The tunes had little flashes here and there of what could have been with proper song writing and direction but ultimately just didn't have it.
Both these songs are significantly better musically than anything BE did. Lyrically they aren't that much better but Squires guitar and Liams vocals alone trump anything BE did.
It's not even up for debate. Sorry to break your hearts BE fans..

Never minded BE, they were all right, not brilliant, but not dire, the negativity directed at them is overblown. I still regularly listen to about 6 BE songs.

Tired. If I had to review the song (Mars to Liverpool) in one word, it sounds "Tired".
The lyrics are actually decent. I just find the melody could've been good but they take it into uninspiring. deflating vocal inflections.
In the big picture, I would rather Liam released one song a year and that it was absolutely inspired, and toured Oasis songs, rather than releasing an album of 10 mediocre songs every couple of years that tarnishes his legacy.
Liam Gallagher stood for something iconic. He is (was) raw energy, enthusiasm, wild uncontrolled passion and youth.
This new music is... aged, plodding, boring, empty, lazy... tired.
Of course, I don't blame him for becoming an old man or having health issues, but I do take issue with him releasing such low quality music.
I mean, that Japanese band with their "Future In The Sky" single are 100x closer to the magic of Oasis than Liam is lately - and that's just...terrible.
I think we're at the party when the party has long been over.
I'm turning my attention to Noel's acoustic album, out of unintelligent hope, and if (and when) that fails to touch the magic we all miss, then it's time for a true Gallagher break for me...
Thank you for the good times! And for the inspired comeback. 🙏 But I wanna cherish what was real, and not see it all fall from grace like this, with the pretence of success and the pretence of passion.
Maybe the Definitely Maybe shows will be a safe haven for die hard Oasis fans to actually experience Oasis once more. Here's to that
