Also, at least they didn't announce the album release date around six months before it was actually going to be released unlike how it usually is.

In hindsight, it is hard to see what Gem brought to the band apart being a friendly placid character who they both go on with and 'Eyeball Tickler'. There is a long list of guitarists who could have offered better tunes, challenged Noel positively on the sound and direction of the band etc. Noel wanted to The Chief though so got the two friendliest people he could find in to fall in line. Gem's a great guitarist. Not sure Squire actually would've fit in with Oasis at all - everything would've just been about guitar solos. Look, I love him in the Roses. He's a fantastic guitarist. But I don't think he's a standout songwriter.

Their albums and B-sides had a foundation of brilliant songwriting.

Now this is more like it. No complaints here. Love the bassline, Liam sounds great. Catchy as fuck, a real ear worm.

Don't underestimate how necessary a 'yes' man was to fit in between those two and keep some peace. Imagine if they'd hired an 'artist' type with an ego as big as their own.

UK tour is in March apparently theres a 7 day event on facebook made by Manchester events for LG and JS gigs from 18th - 25th May, it was made 3 hours ago. So potentially they could be touring April into May?

Yes Men are a necessity for NG. People like the Staceys, Gem, Andy etc are more than happy to contribute largely to the songs and let Noel take full songwriting credit. People like Gaz Cobain, Real People…. Not so much and thus they are shunned. Squire would have been like more like these guys.

So potentially they could be touring April into May? Just looked at the O2 Apollo website and there are no gig scheduled at all for that week so potentially a couple of nights there that week
