Am I the only one who has realized that this is almost definitely a song Squire dusted off from the Stone Roses reunion that never fully happened in 2016? It just sounds like it came from the same session of One For All and Beautiful Thing, but the rest of the song a will never see the light of day so he cut Ian Brown’s vocal take and pasted Liam’s in. (who does Ian Brown better than Ian Brown). I mean it sounds like John Squire. I don't think anything has been said to suggest it's from those sessions?

Kind of OK. That said, this kind of song was dated in 1997. Don’t care. I love that year.

I dig it!
I agree that it feels somewhat disjointed - there is this dreamy-jangly start with Liam sneering over it (you can sell me pretty much anything with this) and it creates a kind of soundscape, then the guitar solo (which is very good by itself, albeit a bit too long) is quite different.
It reminds me the difference in the verses and the chorus in Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - the verses totally draw you in with the trippy, swirling, dreamlike sound, then BAM, BAM, BAM, BAM, chorus, as if you were very rudely awakened.
And yes, someone should've shot down the idea of Liam singing the colours of the rainbow.
Liam sounds good, Squire sounds good. I believe the song could've done with a bit of editing. But I enjoy it a lot.
Also, no matter how hard all Britpop musicians will try to write something like Rain, that song will piss all over their efforts from a large distance. It's just too good (the guitar sound, the insane baseline, the drumming, Lennon's vocals, everything). But I guess I'm biased, because it's my favourite song. And it's a bloody B-side.

Whilst the 2016 songs are a bit shitty, they are not that compressed and have more dynamic. Or the track has been remixed and remastered. the 2016 songs sound exactly like Second Coming too. I Guess Squire can replicate that sound anytime, anywhere, all the pedals are ready to go. It's not that hard.

I just mean, what evidence is there to suggest this is a song from the 2016 session.

The more I listen, the less I enjoy it. Very weak song with makeup slathered everywhere attempting to cover a poor foundation.

It's a bit boring to be honest. I don't even like Liam's vocals on the song. Maybe it's because he sounds more nasal than normal, like if Voldemort discovered the magic of weed, put down his wand and tried being a rock star.

I like the song and Liam sounds great, but I think Liam has many better songs on his solo albums, so just based on this one song it doesn't look like John is taking him to another level or anything and it's mostly John who benefits from Liam's voice and popularity. But it's just one song for now and I'm excited to hear the rest!

For those that said it may be like (Probably) All In The Mind, well... (Probably) All In The Mind > Just Another Rainbow
Hope there's something better on the rest of the album

When you play it with really good headphones or earbuds it is absolutely fantastic. The drums the guitar it's real quality.
Still can't get over how much I love the solo bit and how long it runs for. Nothing like it out right now and that is great for young people picking up guitars

When I was 13, I wasn't looking at a 60 odd year old Eric Clapton single thinking "this is cool" and wanting to pick up guitars. This is about as cool or relevant to young people as Eric Clapton or Rod Stewart or Status Quo or something would have been in the mid 2000s or something. There definitely needs to be music to get young people inspired but this certainly ain't it, some dated sounding song by two middle aged faded rockers, nor should it be.

But it's just one song for now and I'm excited to hear the rest! It’s a perfect marketing move. He has three good solo records. Huge gigs. Them suddenly this. He then goes back to solo. And has another with squire. And does oasis album gigs. He has three ways to make money. It’s brilliant.

Liam is very relevant and popular among young people in the UK. And yes, people like Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and basically any other rock musicians from Liam's time and before Liam's time are not hip with the youngsters, but Liam has basically achieved what no one else has and still has a big impact on British youth culture.

Well its not from those sessions, considering it was recorded in LA for this project Could it have been written around the time of the Roses reunion? Sure but that means nothing, songwriters sit on tunes for years.

Well when i was a teen Clapton did MTV unplugged with that Tears in Heaven song and i tried to learn it on guitar, alongside Noel's tunes (sad song, take me away, Half the World Away...). So it happens. You never know where role models comes from and if that project can make the guitar cool again why not. Vinyls is cool again, fuckin annoying cassettes are cool again. So why not Liam Gallagher and fuckin Eric Clapton. Anything is possible.

I dont think he is that relevant to be honest. Sure some young people will get into his music and Oasis but I don't think large amounts of teenagers are really that invested in Liam Gallagher in 2023, not enough for any kind of impact.

Maybe the Chilly Peppers 🌶 and Foo Fighters in America but not many kids are going to see U2. Liams gigs are packed with young ragers.
