First you mention his in ear monitors were a problem, but as far as I can see he wasn't wearing any. All those wedges at his feet? That is his mixes. His hand gestures also indicate which ones need more. Doesn't like the light on him? Unusual frontman. But the reality is a good lighting designer can work with a variety of lights and techniques that limit that. It was simply piss poor lighting design. I think it was at Barrowlands 2001 he didn't like the lights straight at him and got them turned off. Both he and Noel complained all throughout Familiar to millions at Wembley Stadium in 2000 about stage lights. Ross Halfin (music photographer) photographed them in 2005 and said that stage lighting was awful then as well. Something must have changed between 2000 and 2005 but I don't remember any of the Oasis gigs being particularly dark. Even Knebworth 22 Liam was well lit!

I was in 101, about 50 feet from the stage. Gave me a great view of watching the folks on the floor too. My section was mainly folks over 40. They stood the whole time, some singing, lots of beer tossing which as an American strikes me as pretty odd. A few guys doing their damndest to look like Liam, older guys, which is cringe. Just an observation - US crowds and UK crowds are wildly different. In the US, if you really love and respect a band, you tend to watch silently, taking it all in. There are exceptions of course (if someone is a party band, say) but the vast majority you watch and clap. Someone trying to sing over the band would not go well unless it was an invited sing along. I've seen some UK bands performing in the US take this the wrong way - one lead singer aghast that people weren't pogoing and shouting. And the crowd was REALLY into them. But the band couldn't tell. Edit: here is a pic that shows the lighting situation. Yup, that is Liam in the dark section. ibb.co/k0DhjcSI was in 111, along the side about 12 rows up from the floor. Area around let me was (checks email above) mainly 40-50 year old men and women, plus a lad of about 16 who knew ALL the words. We stood the whole gig. Totally different to Noel at Wembley at Christmas where I was similar position but slightly further back and no-one stood other than me (back row of the section) until the encore.

Yet this sounds decent here. Maybe standing tickets ain't the one anymore. Liam raging during the middle as well.

Seem's strange as I'd have thought there would be a gate on Liam's mic to help with this. I guess the issue could be loud stage volume especially with Liam having 4 monitors that he was constantly asking to be turned up throughout the night. Someone mentioned there was some feedback on stage so maybe it peaked around then. Perhaps Liam would be better getting an IEM system and moving the amps off stage.

Really enjoyable couple of nights at the 02. The sound to me was pretty good overall, with a couple of exceptions here and there like others have mentioned with one of the guitars coming in way too loud into the mix on occasion, overpowering the others.
I for one was buzzing at the B-sides played - I Will Believe, Cloudburst and Half The World Away were personal favourites. I get that a middle section comprised only of them may not hold interest, but that's the difference between us hardcore fans and the casual goer - there were plenty of folks who just chatted to each other or were on their phone through this section (to each their own and all that).
I also wish they just finished off a couple of the songs a bit more - like playing the full outro solo on Live Forever and C&A (both of which were superb, got the crowd proper going) and the intro on Shakermaker (the song begins with a riff, yet could hardly make it out). They're small, picky gripes if truth be told - it was joyous to revisit the seminal album that is Definitely Maybe live in all of its glory

I went yesterday as I thought that crowd on Friday will be the best and I wasn’t wrong! I was near the barrier so it wasn’t easy (there were few times when people nearly ripped my hair) but really fun. I’m all for sweaty gig and loud crowd

Don't they do a proper soundcheck before every gig? Sounds very amateurish when it's a top artist and the sound is all over the place. There's three guitar players in the band? So I get that it might be harder to get it right. I don't think Liam likes the in-ear monitors so that's why he's using the monitors around him.
It's very saddening to hear that the majority of the crowd don't seem to care about the b-sides. I guess that it's the younger generation mostly at these gigs and they don't bother to listen to the b-sides at home? But each to their own. Why pay for a high price ticket and not to listen to every song...
But then the positives, Liam sounds great and I've been really impressed with his voice when listening to the audience recording bootleg that we have. It's an amazing setlist and hope he keeps it, but maybe spread the b-sides around the set a bit more.

There's more of those every day.

The reality is most people who go to these shows aren't gonna be massive Oasis fans in the same way we lot here are, that's just not feasible for thousands upon thousands. And certainly not massive fans of Definitely Maybe which has always been behind WTSMG sales wise. So of course they aren't gonna know most of the songs.
The other thing that was really driven home to me Thursday night and that I never thought about before is that Definitely Maybe is not the kind of album you go off to, bar Cigarettes and Alcohol and Supersonic. You can't jump up and down like a maniac to Shakermaker. You can't start moshing to Columbia. It's just not that kind of album. Digsy's Dinner and Married With Children are funny little novelty songs you can't do much with either. Lock All The Doors is slow. It's slower tempo album. About all you can do for most of the album is sing, which the Thursday crowd did when they knew the words. Crowds like a giant sing along but there's only three times they get to do that with Whatever, Half the World Away and Live Forever. So it's not really anyone's fault. It's just this is the risk Liam took touring an album. Unless the album is filled with banger after banger and your b sides are bangers, you gonna get a lot of lulls in the crowd.
Thinking about it, Liam's made his solo reputation off the back of a setlist that is packed with the best of Oasis or all the bangers across his choice of albums. This isn't like Liam's normal setlist. The energy is bound to be different.

I was at the O2 last night and let me tell you, it was a dream come true. As an Oasis fan of 29 years (and an active, forum following fan for 23 of those years), I really couldn’t ask for more. Except Listen Up. I figured it was my one chance to hear (almost for sure) my #1 favourite song live, but given how many other surprises we got (and we did hear Listen Up a good few times in 2018), I’m not complaining.
It was just an incredible night. I didn’t look at the setlist as I wanted to be really surprised. I didn’t know they weren’t playing the album in order so once the intro to Columbia started pounding , I realised this would be another surprise for me. I couldn’t understand why so many people were looking up the setlist during the gig, skipping right to the end to see the last songs of the night. It’s one thing to go in knowing it or want to know a specific song that’s being played t but to spoil the whole setlist while you’re already at the gig?
And as great as it was to hear RNRS and Columbia, Shakermaker was where it hit me. That’s when it sunk it for me what a big deal this gig was and for me personally. Thinking back to myself at 10 years old, hearing Shakermaker for the first time at a listening station in a Future Shop (Canadians may relate) and just being so curious about what this song was and loving it’s soft and fuzzy guitar feel and playful lyrics.
My inner child was very happy, my adult Oasis nerd self was very happy and the visuals and stage set up they had made my concert goer self happy, even from way up in the 405 section. It wasn’t an ideal spot but it was a ticket and it was incredibly difficult to get a ticket - I had three of my friends offer to help me, refreshing the webpages from work while no one looks!
Shakermaker, up in the sky, Digsy’s dinner (terrific visuals with the flamingoes) and married with children were definitely highlights I expected. But hearing cloudburst then I Will Believe stopped me in my tracks. Liam was actually doing these ancient songs! I couldn’t believe it. The crowd was massively indifferent but that’s their loss. This was a moment for us fans.
And as much as that threw me, hearing the intro chords to HTWA brought a sudden “no way, this is not happening” response - and of course he sang it and it was just the most natural thing in the world! Probably the biggest moment for me. I may have even had a tear in my eye.
Then Lock all the Doors was a complete surprise. As much as it was brilliant to hear, I have to say the song was definitely the weakest link in the set. Felt too slow until the chorus, a little disjointed, and there were definitely people who thought he was covering Noel. Would have been a perfect spot for Listen Up actually, following right after Fade Away here and before Good to be Free. Seemed odd he’d go for LATD in place of Listen Up or even Alive but I’m more than beyond overjoyed I got to hear it.
The crowd was definitely into C&A the most, that’s when things got going again (or Whatever before that when all the mobile phones came out). I was curious whether we’d get the electric or acoustic MWC but was happy with either. Liam sounded terrific on it as he did on almost every song. I Am the Walrus was the encore I had expected him to close the show with (after Live Forever) was definitely pleased to hear it but it did feel a bit half hearted. Not sure, maybe it’s just me.
Last thing: was Bonehead there on stage? The stage lighting plus where I was sat made it hard to tell but I didn’t think I saw him. Catching up on this thread, it seems he was indeed on stage at other gigs. I’d feel so foolish if he was there and I didn’t even catch it!
Merch was great, I even bought three shirts. Can’t wait to do again Monday! Anyone else there last night?

Stayed strong and avoided the setlist for the best part of a week before Thursday night, was glad I did. HTWA was spoiled via a YouTube notification but other than that I went in totally blind.
Incredible night and setlist. As a fan who didn't arrive until Lyla it was great to go back in time and get a whole gig of DM.
Don't usually go for standing anymore but grabbed the first tickets I could get when they came on sale. Everyone around me was very friendly and enjoying it. I was just infront of the sound mixer area.
Anyone know why Tony wasn't a part of it? I expected him to come out and do at least one song, maybe he's fallen out with Liam?

Anyone who went to o2 Thurs night, how did the crowd compare to the crowds at other venues for the DM tour (if you’ve been)? It seemed really flat, one of the worse I’ve been in. But not sure if that’s specific to that night / venue or what everyone else is experiencing. I avoided the setlist too 👍🏻
