My thoughts on tonight's show. My view was fantastic, and I could hear the vocals really well as almost no one in my section sang.
- the voice is amazing. He clearly is working with someone and following the advice - he uses a singing straw frequently between songs - the lighting designer needs to be fired. Literally the guitar player had more of a spotlight than Liam. Liam often stood in a dark spot. They relied too much on the (overly bright) video walls and literally did a minimum with lighting. - The sound guy needs to up his game. There often was feedback (not the good kind), and one of the guitars came in multiple times too hot and too loud, dominating the soundscape. Even Liam's mic wasn't on at one point when he started to speak (he noticed). - The B sides didn't work tonight, and Liam noticed. The energy noticeably dropped. When he eventually did C&A it went way up. After he commented he should do 30 C&A and fuck the B sides. He seemed fairly disgusted with them. - At one point some 40-something idiot started a pretty violent mosh pit. Liam noticed, and simply by calling the guy a weirdo got him to stop. - soooo much beer on the floor. Some woman near me repeatedly tossed her cupful. - and finally, the voice. He literally sounds as good as he ever has.

The fact that people weren't responding to the b-sides is so fucking depressing

The fact that people weren't responding to the b-sides is so fucking depressing I think only Cloudburst and Lock All the Doors (not Noel) got a quiet reaction. Although IATW, Columbia and Bring it on Down didn’t get the pop I would have expected. C&A was mental.

Never able to sing The Masterplan. Not for him. Sorry. Liam has proven he can sing any song he wants from the Oasis catalogue that we once thought was impossible. He is the voice of Oasis so it's not unreasonable for him to sing any song in their arsenal For me the b sides bit is where it picked up gig wise, although where I was the crowd was singing all the way through

I think in London you are getting the more casual fans also...people who just want to say they were there.

Whatever, It's Good to Be Free, Cigarettes & Alcohol and I am The Walrus were awesome. Loved the countdown to 1994 and the layout of the stage / props. I was thinking during Live Forever that Liam paired Bob Marley with John Lennon. Why not George Harrison or is it because Liam and George didn't get on from memory?
Smash is spot on. The sound was fucking unforgivably shit, mix was swampy with no definition and just was nowhere near loud enough. Drum mix non-existant, Liam's vocals not present until end of Shakermaker, guitars all over the place, no bass. The stage is massive but doesn't do much for the people stood on it, most of the band in darkness.
The b-sides sunk the gig to the point where Liam kicked off after Cigs & Alcohol then thanked the crowd later for "turning up half way through". He barely said a word all night in general. I don't think this format is suitable for anyone except hardcore Oasis fans, there aren't enough truly well known songs for people to get behind, especially playing 3 or 4 in a row.
This is the reason Oasis never played rarities, the same reason Noel almost never plays rarities anymore. I'd suggest if there was a Morning Glory 30th Anniversary tour and the audience response to the b-sides on this tour doesn't improve, it'll be be the album + greatest hits instead of B-sides.
So disappointed but going again on Tuesday, maybe I'll walk around a bit and see if the mix improves.

I was in 101, about 50 feet from the stage. Gave me a great view of watching the folks on the floor too. My section was mainly folks over 40. They stood the whole time, some singing, lots of beer tossing which as an American strikes me as pretty odd. A few guys doing their damndest to look like Liam, older guys, which is cringe. Just an observation - US crowds and UK crowds are wildly different. In the US, if you really love and respect a band, you tend to watch silently, taking it all in. There are exceptions of course (if someone is a party band, say) but the vast majority you watch and clap. Someone trying to sing over the band would not go well unless it was an invited sing along. I've seen some UK bands performing in the US take this the wrong way - one lead singer aghast that people weren't pogoing and shouting. And the crowd was REALLY into them. But the band couldn't tell. Edit: here is a pic that shows the lighting situation. Yup, that is Liam in the dark section. ibb.co/k0DhjcS

Why anyone wants to toss a £10 pint is bizarre, it's an expensive way to pass the night

I'd say this with more confidence here in the U.S. -- but is it possible that in the U.K. people don't KNOW the B-Sides??
Can't be...could it?

A sizeable chunk won't know Cloudburst/I Will Believe/Spaceman (the ones that weren't on the Masterplan, basically). The chorus to Lock All the Doors will be familiar to some more.
Half the World Away is popular, so that livens the crowd up a bit in the middle of that section, but I think loading a seven-song B-side/rarity section into the middle of an arena gig is bound to lose the attention of more casual fans.
I get that the idea will be to finish the gig with classic after classic in the final stretch, but I don't think it would have been a bad idea to bring Supersonic and C&A in earlier on to keep the energy high.

I couldn't really give two shits about the crowd knowing the words because i'm there for myself & i'm singing my heart out to every tune. Blessed he's doing these bsides, hope he keeps them coming

All those wedges at his feet? That is his mixes. His hand gestures also indicate which ones need more. Doesn't like the light on him? Unusual frontman. But the reality is a good lighting designer can work with a variety of lights and techniques that limit that. It was simply piss poor lighting design.

It will be interesting to see if Liam makes some adjustments in London and moves some songs around or throws a Sad Song in or something lol

I think it was at Barrowlands 2001 he didn't like the lights straight at him and got them turned off.

So disappointed but going again on Tuesday, maybe I'll walk around a bit and see if the mix improves. Yeah you've summed it up for me. They fucked up Cloudburst and the intro to Supersonic, weird sound issues, lighting bad. At one point during Cloudburst, where I was anyway, it sounded like the drummer was playing a different song and people around me were wondering what was going on. It was like there was some weird delay effect? Agree on the format. There's simply not enough people who know that album inside out and back the front, never mind the b sides. It made me think when casuals say they like Definitely Maybe, they mean Supersonic, Live Forever, Slide Away and Cigarettes and Alcohol. The rest they skip. And you could tell last night. Lock All The Doors was a disaster I've never seen such a mass exodus for beers/loos etc Same with I Will Believe. But look, Liam's got be realistic. this was always gonna be a massively hyped thing that appeals to casuals. That's not 20k hardcore fans he's playing to for 4 nights is it. I had a blast and was a top night for me and my mates. I'm also going again Tuesday. Hopefully Liam's mood improves
