Let's go to town here.... Rolling Stones are middle class posh boys pretending to be rebellious Americans, playing derivative blues with a singer who’s voice is weak as piss.
Now we're getting into it. Stakes duly raised. Well played.

The Beatles are 100% over rated. Their shit songs definitely outweigh their awesome ones.
And btw I LOVE The Beatles

I actually dislike most British ‘indie’ music, stuff like the Stone Roses, Smiths, The La’s is all a bit dull (I’m aware all three of those bands sound different to each other) In the same vein, Britpop is the single most overrated period of music ever, you have 2 or 3 good bands and the rest is derivative rubbish. Oasis are not Britpop, they are a Rock band who came out at the same time. Early Manics and Suede are great also but the rest of the bands can do one.

I like some Stone Roses/Smiths songs but most of them I find dull. Britpop sucks besides Oasis -- and really none of the other Britpop bands sound anything like Oasis. This is a bit off topic but does anyone know of any bands that sound similar to Oasis? I'm rather new to Anglosphere rock music and after falling in love with Oasis music, I tried going through the other Britpop bands as well as bands that supposedly influenced Oasis (the Stone Roses/Smiths/the Beatles etc) to find a similar sound to no avail. The closest I found was actually Ride because the noisy guitar sound is similar imo.

The closest I found was actually Ride because the noisy guitar sound is similar imo. I had a similar experience. Oasis were the first band I really got into (albeit 23 years ago) and having listened to their then 4 albums to death I went looking for my next band. Like you, I went looking in the obvious places but it fell flat (apart from the Beatles, who I fucking love). The thing is despite what the critics and haters say Oasis do not really sound like anyone. Their music isnt original, far from it but that mix of The Beatles, Sex Pistols, T-Rex and The Jam which was Definitely Maybe was a blend bands hadn’t done before and struggled to replicate since. The issue is every band who have been heavily influenced by Oasis just aren’t very good and don’t have Noel’s songwriting talent or Liam’s vocals and charisma. So in short, it’s tough!

Franz Ferdinand's debut is a far greater album than any of the other more heralded indie debuts of that time (Arctic Monkeys, Strokes).

Maybe try Bandwagonesque by Teenage Fanclub, from 1991. They were signed on Creation Records and that record definitely has clear noise pop influences.

**deep breath** Firstly, agree Arctic Monkeys are overrated. I really like a lot of their songs, but I still think broadly they aren't that incredible. Can't stand Bob Dylan, or any music of that sort of genre. Country sucks. Rolling Stones = meh (other than a few songs) The View are a massively underrated band in the UK, their new song "Feels Like" was huge, but they still get no attention. The first two Gorillaz albums are light years ahead of anything they have done since. I still enjoy a lot of their new stuff, but those 2 albums are masterpieces, for different reasons. Plastic Beach ain't got nothing on them. Miley Cyrus should quit pop and launch herself into the rock genre, she has an incredible voice for it The three best artists in the UK right now are Wolf Alice, Sam Fender, and The 1975 (fight me) Aaaaaand finally, excluding the dreadful Beady Eye, and the awful Noel EP title tracks, I enjoy almost all of the solo Noel/solo Liam output. Most of it is really good. People here are too critical/analytical about it. I listen to post 2010 gallagher MUCH more than anything between 2000-2010 **phew** NOTE: Emphasis on opinions^ I agree about those first Gorillaz albums, particularly Demon Days which is a masterpiece. But I think Albarn has been shite since Plastic Beach onwards. His solo stuff is just some bloke mumbling into a pint glass in the corner of a pub, that Blur album was rubbish, and Gorillaz is now nothing but tuneless dirges with some fancy window dressing. Maybe the most recent Gorillaz albums are okay, so I’ve heard, but his output in those large swathes of the 2010s made me stop caring.

Nah, it's a great album, but you can't say the weaker songs off it are better than the weaker songs off Whatever People Say. I’d say all three are pretty much perfect. What all three bands have in common is that no one has ever reached the quality of their debuts again though

I don't mind certain songs by both bands but to me they're nothing special and they're both very over rated.

....Revolver? Literally a perfect record. The new stereo mix may change your mind. The best the album has ever sounded sonically. Will give it another try soon! glider After having done so, I stand by my former opinion that it's an 8/10. Very even quality, but not as many peaks as I'd like. Made a ranking below. 1-6(great) Eleanor Rigby For No One She Said She Said Yellow Submarine(100% unironically) And Your Bird Can Sing Tomorrow Never Knows 7-11(Good/decent) Taxman Doctor Robert I'm Only Sleeping Love You To Here, There And Everywhere 12-14(Not shit, but not good enough) Got To Get You Into My Life Good Day Sunshine I Want To Tell You

Got to Get You Into My Life is a fantastic tune. Just came into existence too early; would have ripped it up as a four-minute Abbey Road track rather than fading out as soon as it does.

However I can't see Got To Get You... and I Want To Tell You being mediocre , two infectious, timeless bops.

That outro getting cut off for being a victim of the mid-60s runtime status quo is criminal. Should've gone another solid two to three minutes! Paul was getting into it!

The most overrated bands/artists of the last two decades: Arctic Monkeys Tame Impala Muse Is Tame Impala even a band anymore? Ever since Currents I've thought of it as a Kevin Parker solo pseudonym.

And I Want To Tell You is hardly George Harrison's best vocal performance(at 0:44 specifically), though that isn't my only problem with it

Demon Days really is a masterpiece, I literally never tire of that glorious album.

I would have loved a Motown artist/band to cover Got To Get You Into My Life (even though Earth Wind and Fire did a fine job). Pure soul number that one.

There's a top, top song in there but is a victim of the era. Still good, mind.
