Kevin Carrion has worked out the chords
I think it’s just a D in the chorus and not back to the Dmaj7 but other than that sounds great
He has previously figured out Gem’s guitar parts for Helter Skelter and who feels love. He’s really good, hope he will do more videos

I like the ease of the verse chords, and I’d be shocked if Noel didn’t play it that way given his style.

Chorus is getting better and better and it's magical. And chorus wasn't even my favourite part when I first heard Dead To The World and it still isn't.

Anyone think this could be Noel’s best work so far for HFB ? Was watching that lyric video for it the other night thinking it’s a classic, not sure how it will go down live though as it will be difficult for the crowd to raise the roof for it, amazing song though.

I think it is. I loved it immediately upon hearing it. I had a concern, though, that repeated listens might see it’s charm diminish. That doesn’t seem to be the case though, I’ve hammered this song and it continues to move me.

Would this be the first explicit Noel written break-up song?

Nitpicking, but I don't like how it goes back to the first verse in the end, like so many of his solo songs. Id Rather it finished in the Im sleeping line

Would this be the first explicit Noel written break-up song? Yeah, you might be right. Other candidate could be Dead in the Water, though I guess that's more lament for lost love than breaking up.

Would this be the first explicit Noel written break-up song? Well no, since Slide Away from the first album, was written for pre-fame girlfriend Louise. It's about the feelings it brought up and his attempt to save their failing relationship. He moved to London in 1994 and she refused to move with him. And, according to every biography the line in Married with Children "Your music's shite" was inspired by rows they used to have too, she apparently said this to Noel and he put it in the song. ________________________________ Slide Away... "My today fell in from the topI dream of you and all the things you say I wonder where you are now". ________________________________ Don't Go Away is also a song where they are breaking up but has the element of reconcilation / apology in the final section.

I never thought of Slide Away as a break up song. Not in the same way as Dead To The World.

Nitpicking, but I don't like how it goes back to the first verse in the end, like so many of his solo songs. Id Rather it finished in the Im sleeping line Yes! I totally agree. It worked well on a song like Strand On The Wrong Beach for example, but it just comes across as lazy on Dead To The World and it somehow ruins the integrity of the song entering b-side territory. Replace the cheesy accordions and end it after the last sleeping and it would be a 7-8 for me. This is why I like A World That's Been And Gone better.

Like I said, nitpicking, but yeah I could do without it, especially since he's done it sooo many times. In his first solo album, for instance, almost every song ends like this

I think he’s already said he won’t be doing it live He did, said he would only play if he did a gig with an orchestra which makes no sense to me. Even though the orchestra is beautiful it's much more subtle than Whatever, All Around The World or Masterplan. I reckon an acoustic guitar and a piano would sound absolutely brilliant as Dead in The Water did. Add some keyboards and the backup singers and you've got pretty much the same atmosphere.

I continue to think what he says now doesn’t really amount to anything, in five or six weeks when rehearsals happen I’m sure they’ll give it a go and see if it works.

Doubt he would say that about a break up of Noel's

Doubt he would say that about a break up of Noel's I have never believed for a moment it was about their mom - I think Noel uses that when he doesn't want to admit what it really is about. DGA was written after the blowout in the US when Noel flew home ("as the day was dawning, my plane flew away") and is about Liam I believe. I doubt very much Noel would say "I don't wanna be there when you're coming down/ I don't wanna be there when you hit the ground" to his mom - that's what you say to someone whose behavior has you worried and not wanting to watch them self destruct. And would you say "you and me what's going on/all we seem to show is the feelings that are wrong" to someone with cancer? Nope. It's a song about Liam and that is why he cried.

Noel comments, Track by track run down from Q Mag in Sept 1997, the month coinciding with BHNs release. Taken from: oasisinterviews.blogspot.com/1997/09/_____________________________________________________ "It's a very sad song about not wanting to lose someone you're close to. The middle eight I made up on the spot -- I never had that lyric until the day we recorded it: 'Me and you, what's going on?/ All we seem to know is how to show/ The feelings that are wrong.' It's after a row. Quite bleak.
We put Burt Bacharach horns on because he was the master of break-up songs. _____________________________________________________ Of course the lyrics of NG were always quite vague, Live Forever could be a love song, a song of friendship to a family member or someone close to the singer. Wonderwall too is the same really "You're gonna be the one that saves me" - you can read many things into it. It means whatever it means to you. I guess I 'projected' that because Slide Away was written about Louise and they split soon after, it's a love song but the relationship didn't work out, it's about the end, losing rather than gaining love.

Now that you've mentioned these lyrics, it always bugged me. The official lyrics claim he says "And I Wanna be there when you're coming down...", this makes no sense whatsoever to me and he really seems to say "I DON'T wanna be there..." That being said I love this song dearly and wish Noel would give some more love to it, it's such an iconic ballad
