Ok, think I have figured out how Noel is playing this now on acoustic. Capo in first with all chords relative to the capo. Verse is two chords, not sure what they are called but: First chord : x-0-7-6-7-0 Second chord : x-0-0-5-6-0 Alternate between these for 4 bars of 3/4 and I that’s the verse. Middle eight is open chords G, Bm, G, E Chorus is open chords D, G, Bm, E then back to G for the last “cause I’m sleeping”. I don't hear the A on the D string on the first chord and it sounds to me like there's a lower A hanging around the chord, but the D is still the root. Now I've got my guitar I've playing it just like that, except that Dmaj7 which I've been fingering like so: xx0670. (Everything related to capo on 1st fret, of course). Guess we'll have to wait for a video of Noel playing it to figure the chord exactly, but it's pretty close so far! I agree that the D string open for the first chord sounds best for strumming the chords but to replicate the accordian I think it sounds better fretting the D string at the 7th fret. B: -7-------
G: ---6----- (play 4 times) D: ------7-- A: --------- Then: B: ----------6--------- G: -------5-----5------ (play twice) D: ----7-----------7--- A: -5------------------

Thanks god all WBTM era is over. Noel´s still Noel. He can still write great songs. In some ways it reminds me "The Death of you and me". A perfect little tune. I'd take pretty much all of WBTM over this, to be honest. And I think "The Death of You and Me" urinates over every track we've heard from this album from unimaginable heights. Easily since it's Noel's best solo song, and one that rival his early oasis singles. Pure melodic Gold. Dead To the World is everything Dead in the Water should have been, only a bit less good. alas, i suppose Noel doesn't listen to people around him. Classic case of the solo artist losing the plot. But it's not a first for Noel, his solo career has had ups and downs (yes you CY). The remaining tracks need to be really really strong, because so far only one in three is album material. Can we dream ? Single: Side A - Dead to the World Side B - Dead in the Water (studio version)

Justin Hawkins from the Darkness a has reviewed the track, he really likes it.
He said the strings were arranged by Rosie Danvers from wired strings

Happy to see people loving this track the way they do.
Love to see the Gallaghers get more of the respect they deserve.

A good 7/10 at the moment.
I like it, a really nice tune. It's very dreamy, more haunting than his usual stuff and I'm liking that style - yes I am all for Noel becoming the male Kate Bush! I can hear bits of Scott Walker, Nick Drake and Burt Bacharach again (the latter influence always a welcome presence on any Noel song) and great news that he's diverting away from the usual 'yer da's' Britrock inspirations.
I'm not blown away by it like others though, it and it doesn't have the emotional impact of Dead In The Water (which is the benchmark tune of this kind). It seems a bit slight, for me it just lacks that killer touch to move from very good to genuine classic. But overall the song is definitely a vibe and direction I can get on board with.
That's just me though. I get why folk love it though. I also love seeing so many folk bowled over by it and if it works for so many of you, then that's the main thing.

I'm definitely looking forward to it but I'm certainly not hyped for it. The moment he said he was producing it himself a few years back is the moment I mentally put it by the wayside. It's nowhere near the sonic drudgery of Dave Sardy but Noel's production is workmanlike at best. Heck, it doesn't even need to be an experimental producer for me to be excited, just somebody who would be a better arranger for his songs. On the actual creative front for a conventional sound, even somebody like Nigel Godrich or Rick Rubin would ensure quality control. Sure enough, I don't find any of the new songs awesome. I like them though, they're all different from one another in mood and I hope he keeps up some kind of eclecticism that failed the first two albums (barring a couple of exceptional songs on each album, I never revisit the albums as they've become increasingly dull over time). In that sense, I'm still hoping - and optimistic - it will be better than the first two. I expect to file it alongside the EPs in terms of quality. Solid if unspectacular.

A-side: Dead To The World B-side: Moscow Rules With Liam singing the a side and Noel singing the b side! Would be interesting to hear both of those sung by the other, I reckon.

Liam can't sing Dead To The World. I mean he can, but Noel's version would be better so if this was an Oasis song and they were smart, they would use Noel's version.
I love Rolo and his work but I don't like that much his cover of Dead To The World. And his voice is similar to Liam's.
To me, Dead To The World is not on of those NGHFB songs that I wish or wonder how it would sound if Liam sang it.
I would say that is most similar to The Masterplan.

Hey Noel, you can’t trick me into liking this song just because you put some strings on it.It’s still boring. I had to listen to holy mountain just to get my energy level up again

The first chord is XX0222 with a lift off to 0 on the 6th string, no? Noel is too conservative to play XX7670 😆
