We're one step away from the "we live in a computer simulation" reveal. Can't wait. its pretty exciting really.

We're one step away from the "we live in a computer simulation" reveal. Can't wait. its pretty exciting really. If you believe AI could replicate consciousness eventually (big if, it can't even replicate The Masterplan yet, but still), from there the idea that we're in a simulation becomes genuinely quite serious. All you need to grant is that at some point in the universe, somewhere, anywhere, AI that could do that would be done and the number of simulated realities would then obviously outnumber "objective" realities, making it more likely that we/you/I exist in one of those. It's a bit clickbait-philosophy, of course; no-one has a clue what to think about consciousness yet.

Totally, there's a lot of scientists way smarter than us who believe such a possibility is more and more possible. That and/or parallel universes. It's not clickbait-philosophy though i think, we literally know nothing about the universe and believing that what we are is just that is a bit silly if you ask me. I have no idea what i am. And i am fine with it. What is consciousness though ? How can i prove you or I exist ? Maybe we are just SIMS in a CD-ROM. How wild would that be.

And i am fine with it. What is consciousness though ? How can i prove you or I exist ? Maybe we are just SIMS in a CD-ROM. How wild would that be. Piggybacking off Penrose, there are the main possible explanations to consciousness: Materialist / Scientific: A) Computation: Consciousness is an emergent process from complex enough information processing. Some would think this requires more organic computation (like we find in a brain) and some would think it would be possible on a more traditional computer. B) Science 2.0: Consciousness obeys materialist reality, but is another level/theory/dimension of our reality that we just don't know about. It could be linked to quantum wave-function randomness, could be linked to string theory, or just some mind-blowing dimension of material reality that we have no idea about yet. In any case, it would be unlikely to be computational as we know it. Penrose's Orch OR theory fits this. Philosophical:C) Pan-Pyschism: Consciousness is fundamental. It is a property of physical existence in much the same way that spin, charge, and mass are. All systems have some degree of experience and subjectivity, however basic and alien they might be compared to our sophisticated, evolved version. D) Idealism: Reality IS consciousness. Since science can't tell us what anything is, just what it behaves (we can break matter down to, say, quarks and electrons, but we can't ever say what an electron intrinsically is, just describe it's behaviour), then there must be some substance beyond material to reality. And since our only immediate proof of anything we can be sure of is the reality of consciousness, then consciousness is best idea for the fundamental substance of reality. There is an objective, non-local mentation that underlies reality, and which underlies the objective reality our localised mentations share. Religious:D) Spiritualism/Religion/Etc: God did it. We have immaterial souls that give us consciousness, and it's non-material, non-scientific, a product from the infinite power and mind of God/the Ultimate Dimension/etc. It can only be known with experience/faith/emotion/etc. E) Zen. Don't think about it. Experience it. Breathe. No-concepts. Shh.

The Liam ones are dodgy, but some of the Noel ones are scarily good already, probably about 70% there. Has anyone done "Everybody's on the run" & other NGHFB songs sung by Liam yet? If you search on YouTube you will easily find versions of If I Had a Gun and Everybody is on the run. But they are not great, probably someone will make better versions soon

Piggybacking off Roger Penrose, there are a handful of thoughts about what consciousness will end up being down to: Materialist / Scientific: A) Computation: Consciousness is an emergent process from complex enough information processing. Some would think this requires more organic computation (like we find in a brain) and some would think it would be possible on a more traditional computer. B) Science 2.0: Consciousness obeys materialist reality, but is another level/theory/dimension of our reality that we just don't know about. Some think that physics/science can't tell us what anything IS, just what it DOES. We can break matter down to, say, quarks and electrons, but we can't ever say what an electron IS. Just describe it's behaviour and effects. Therefore, since there must be some substance beyond science to reality, and our only immediate proof of anything we can be sure of is consciousness, then consciousness is best idea for the fundamental substance of reality. Electrons ARE consciousness. Reality doesn't have it, it IS it. But our brains are the most complex organisation of this and so have the most complex form. This is pan-psychism. Shh. All valid ! or not... who knows. But needs and update to A/ BinaryConsciousness is just a line of code

Semi-relevant, that Drake/Weeknd AI song is pretty good. Has it flipped any of the naysayers about the potential of the tech?
