Hate to say it, but I found this one to be a real snoozer, and reminded me way too much of Heathen Chemistry from a songwriting and production standpoint. The best part was his little high note before the chorus. Pretty Boy has a way better hook in my opinion, and still has that elevating Noel melody that we all love.
Creatively it kinda makes sense after a long wait (and what he is going through personally) to return to familiar sounds and themes. I love a good Noel ballad, and think no matter the era, his best songs shine with just him and guitar - but I personally really like WBTM and thought Holmes was a prefect 90's survivor creative foil to Noel. That record has scope in songwriting and production that a lot the Gallaghers are missing.
Big picture, my biggest worry for the record is that this was produced by Noel and Strangeboy - we have over two decades worth of material now and frankly I just find their style muddy and dull - nothing bites, and the guitars hardly ever rev. Very MOR, but unlike a lot of MOR records, Noel isn't a producer, or mixer full-time and you can definitely tell. Oasis was always mid heavy, but Owen had personality and Spike is a industry pro. IDK at least Sardy got drums to sound good?
Lucky I listen to Noel for the songs, and after being a fan for so long kinda reasonably know what to expect from him, and this one is "nice", but not really memorable. Definitely something he could write in his sleep.
In summary my feelings in a forced restaurant metaphor - I go into Noel's joint, knowing I'm probably getting "the usual". WBTM was like throwing a special up on the board - it went outside my expectations and exceeded them to and extent (probably just because this place NEVER does specials). Hearing Easy Now, is like going back and not only being a little disappointed that the special board is gone, but the ingredients for "the usual" are kinda "meh".
Noel hasn't put out and outright bad record in two decades, so I have faith that the album will pull through.

I actually value this forum for being tough crowd. Obviously we all love these guys and expect greatness with every release.
We got way too excited, then sometimes dissapointed, but that's just because we care. We're the Oasis maniacs, I don't think there's any actual haters on this board.

Ah come on Travis, the first album is alright, fun little record. The second one has some big ripp offs but the sound is interesting. And you got this beauty, that couldn't be made today the 90s Cant imagine how it was in the 70s regarding that subject.

Agreed. oasisinet was hijacked by haters who dedicated every day of their lives to it. Was very strange

I have no particular desire for Noel to re-create the "Classic Oasis-y" sound. I do. I just don't want him to sing the songs unless it's just him and an acoustic.

Noel can't forever make hit after hit.
I loved everything even most of the ep releases. This is a bit of a quality drop.

The melody in the chorus is gorgeous, so much better than Pretty Boy which was way too monotonous for me

Rised big time for me since this morning. Put it at an 8 now, great little tune. Sometimes simple Noel melodies is all you need man. Take it for what it is.

Listened more to it. Some great singing by Noel that I missed first couple of times so that stands out. Can't get chorus outta my head so that ticks a box. The song has gone up a notch but I still fucking hate that guitar solo. It's a shocker. Hope he wasn't responsible for it. Social media reaction on all platforms overwhelmingly positive, makes me happy for him. Thank fuck Liam has stayed quiet, hasn't trashed it yet, which he did right off the bat for Pretty Boy, so hopefully that's a good sign for those two. All in all, a good start to the new album cycle.

I want to try to throw a spear in favor of Noel's album, Liam also released an understated single in my opinion, like 'Better Days', but basically we saw that the rest of the album showed gems like 'Diamond In The Dark'. So I'm sure 'Easy Now', is that wrong single to be part of that album with songs worthy of Noel Gallagher's name. One thing is certain however, by releasing certain singles I don't feel like pre-ordering the album, especially if like Deluxe you put me the instrumental sounds. Don't make me want to buy it.

Liam is often stupid but with the divorce I think he might see this as an opportunity at a reconciliation. His mum probably does as well.

It's a decent song. Not a classic or anything, but good enough. I like chorus and guitar solo. Is that Johnny Marr again?
I also feel some people put too many expectations on Noel. He isn't going to produce a rock record like Liam, and he isn't going to do cosmic pop stuff without someone pushing him. Noel is Noel. A good songwriter, a great songwriter on his day. His albums are not meant to be groundbreaking or bonafide classics. Unless you are talking about 1994-1996 but that's way behind us.

Given it a few more listens and its grown on me a little. I still think the chorus is less memorable than the verse, but both are passable.
The real hook is that recurring “i’ll be there, i’ll wait for you I swear” link that does admittedly sound like the Bee Gees’ Run To Me, but it works well here. I also feel Noel’s vocal is his best in a while, helping to give the melody more flavour.
Solo is take-or-leave, though certainly better than i expected given some comments, while the outro does get a bit plodding. I’ll maybe up to 7/10.
