This is a question I think to myself from time to time. Will there be a point in liams solo career where liam will write a song better than Songbird? Or has he already done it in the past? During his solo or oasis days...
If you think he already has, state which song it is please and thank you!

I agree Songbird still remains his best song. There is something effortlessly pretty about it that he never fully managed to reproduce in any of his other songs.

I've All I Need, Soul Love, and Star Anew are much better. Songbird has always been overrated.

He already has Guess God Thinks I'm Able Bold Greedy Soul You Better Run Come On You Know World's In Need Soul Love Shine A Light Those songs alone are so much better than Songbird. Yes, that's a good song but no way is it Liam's best.

Yes, that's a good song but no way is it Liam's best. Most songs you have cited don't even have a decent melody. Of course, Songbird is rather simple harmonically but the melody is really pretty, which easily puts it steps above mediocre stuff like Shine A Light or Come On You Know.

I very much doubt it. There is an ease and simplicity to Songbird that I can't see him reclaiming. Much as I enjoy (most of) his solo work, it generally ends up feeling a bit forced and guilty of trying too hard for me.

No. That's the perfect Liam song. In fact, that' about as good as a love song can get in general.

No
He totally abandoned the idea to be a songwriter
He’s « just » a singer you know

I agree Songbird still remains his best song. There is something effortlessly pretty about it that he never fully managed to reproduce in any of his other songs. I have a bias against this song for its overrating in the catalog but it is a simple pop ballad that gets straight to the point and doesn't meander. I think The Roller was mainly written by him? Is the closest he's gotten to a simple pop track since Songbird - simple melody, catchy hooks in the verses and chorus - very memorable.

The Roller is Gem's, AFAIK I was thinking that cause it was part of the 2007 demos that got released a few years ago. I guess the closest to a simple pop tune he's got since Songbird is I'm Outta Time or Once?

The melody of Songbird could have been written by Noel

Songbird is effortlessly great and I consider it his best. But I do think some of his other songs could be worthy contenders. Born on a different cloud and better man are underrated IMO

I'm Outta Time is definitely one that hits me harder now than it did at the time. On reflection, I'd have that neck and neck with Songbird.

I don't listen to these piano versions of songs as they're a waste of time and it's always better to stick with the proper version.

I think the melody works pretty good on keys and even violin, but you might disagree, and it's fine

They might just be an opportunity to see some songs through another lense, hearing them being played through beautiful instruments. I don't even understand the comparison with the actual version, I don't think the people making those covers have the ambition to replace the studio version, but anyway...
