A vast stretch of the ocean floor earmarked for the deep sea mining is home to thousands of oddball sea creatures and most of them aren't known to science.

This should be a spoken-word passage in the middle-eight of an obscure French indie-dance track. The reason why I mentioned it is because I read it on the BBC science news pages the other day. Ha,ha, I'm not sure about the indie band thing though.

This isn't good, Orcas have sunk three boats in Europe and seem to be teaching others to do the same. Scientists are investigating.

Bees are critically endangered all over the world and something needs to be done to help them.

Oystercatchers are such lovely birds and I love them. I've never seen one myself but they usually make an appearance on Springwatch every year.

Some good news, nightjar numbers are on the up at RSPB reserves after years of conservation work. Another lovely bird which is sometimes featured on Springwatch.

Snakes are strange creatures really and they're not exactly my favourite creatures either. The rattle snake is critically endangered now though which isn't good but I'm not sure if any other species are endangered or not though.

A species of butterfly which was extinct in the UK for 100 years has been found which is great news. It looks like the white cabbage butterfly except for its black markings.

Some good news, Costa Rica's scarlet macaws were on the brink of extinction but a community led effort turned things around with education, nest production and habitat recovery.

I read on Focusing On Wildlife that a TV newsman witnessed a rare birth of deer triplets in his backyard. How wonderful is that and apparently it's not the first time this deer has used his yard to give bitch.
