OK, let's release the Milking the Cow exclusive boxset, containing the remastered edition of the remastered edition of Be Here Now with a Guigsy rethink of each song where you can finally hear me playing bass, Oasis management replied.

When you come around to eventually releasing a Deluxe copy of SOTSOG...
Please absolutely include the Maida Vale sessions - incl. the best performance of Rock N' Roll Star and the electric Talk Tonight.
And there's no possible way you can miss of Gas Panic! Rock In Rio. The whole band may never have been tighter than those 10 minutes. What a performance. From the demo to this... Noel's a genius.

Sadly I think Noel doesn’t have the interest or time as he is concentrating on his solo work. I don’t believe he thinks too highly of the album which is a shame as there’s some great songs on it.

I know, to be honest my gripe isn't really with management as such as a lot of what I'm referring to are unofficial releases. But if you think from the period between 94-97 we have: Forever the People Getting High Tony McCarroll book (and numerous other books) The Definitely Maybe 10 year anniversary documentary Definitely Maybe 20 year deluxe re-release Morning Glory 20 year deluxe re-release Be Here Now 20 year deluxe re-release Supersonic Knebworth documentary and live album Definitely Maybe 25 year podcast Morning Glory 25 year documentary and Q&A And an upcoming tbc Be Here Now 25 year release And I get it - that 3 year period was unbelievable, they were the biggest band in the world and the sound of a generation, DM and WTSMG are two all time greats and I will always prefer 90s Oasis to MKII Oasis. Theres clearly a market for it. But there can't be any part of the story that hasn't already been told a million times over by now. 00s Oasis were quite boring in comparison but there is still a story there - Supersonic ends at Knebworth, what happened next? Bonehead and Guigs leaving, Noel quitting drugs and struggling for inspiration, Liam getting his teeth smashed in in Munich, strong rumours of a split pre-DBTT (always remember getting tickets for the 2005 Manchester gig which was billed unofficially as their farewell gigs - incidentally that still hasn't been released in its entirety). Lord Don't Slow Me Down covers 05-06 quite well, but something went drastically wrong after that leading to the eventual split. Noel keeps finding random unfinished/unreleased songs in his sock drawer and talked about a 00s anthology so there is definitely unreleased material there. I just feel like there is a wider narrative that Oasis struck gold with two great albums then had nothing else and kept trying and failing to recapture the old formula. There is probably a slight element of truth there but it isn't as black and white as is made out. If Noel had his way Be Here Now would never see the light of day again but Stand By Me has had a resurgence in popularity and that, DYKWIM and and the Be Here Now song get some of the best reactions at Liam's gigs. But you have to put them out there instead of just milking the cow on those 2-3 years in the 90s over and over.

But you have to put them out there instead of just milking the cow on those 2-3 years in the 90s over and over. I agree with all of that. In a lot of ways I’m much more interested to hear rare material from post 2000. I like that later period more than most and we have a decent idea that there is plenty of it. In regard to the 90’s yes it’s been well mined already but maybe much less than we think. Hearing Sad Song sung by Liam and his Step Out vocal suggests there might be more to had. I would be happy with anything even vaguely comprehensive and complete but I just don’t think they’ll do it. Noel’s idea for an extra disc of post 2000 unheard material tacked on to something else was terrible. It’s so piecemeal. It would be great to see them bookend their legacy with something well thought out, well produced and well put together. The Beatles did it, Dylan continues to do it. At the very least The Jam and Led Zeppelin’s reissues pretty much included everything from the sessions for each record. There’s no will from Noel to put out something good and no competency in the management to be able too.

In terms of a release of unreleased recordings, radio TV sessions, promos and gigs I think there could be some interesting material, however, I just don’t think Noel has the time or interest to do it. Also this is for the die hard fans really.
I know we already have some of these but perhaps from an official source than a bootleg or radio broadcast. How about this:
1999-00 SOTSOG SMC and WFL acoustic sessions, they did record them and released it as a promo
WDIAGW Promo acoustic version
BBC Radio 1 Session at Maida Vale recorded January 2000 - RNRS, WFL, SMC, Talk Tonight and My Generation
Leeds festival 28/8/00 where Noel introduces the band saying “this isn’t the f**king funeral”. It was thought at the time this would be the band’s last gig. They sounded great that night.
2001 Radio Cidade, Brazil January 2001 Noel, Gem and Zeb Jameson played an acoustic set which included Gas Panic.
Tour of brotherly love May-June 2001 - I thought the band were on fire on this tour, good set list and Steve White on drums due to Alan White having an injured thumb. Noel and Gem joined the Black Crowes for a cover song each night.
Tour of noise and confusion Oct 2001
2002 Heathen Chemistry Hindu times demo Songbird demo
CD:UK The band sounded great here.
Finsbury Park, Odd they never released anything from this, a DVD or live album just to keep things ticking over between 2003 and 2004 between albums
2005 DBTT Death in vegas sessions December 2003 or January 2004 - The band returned to Sawmills studios in Cornwall with Death in vegas acting as producers. The sessions were abandoned as the band didn’t have the songs, no TIOBI or Lyla at this time.
During 2003 and 2004 Liam and Gem worked with producer Peter de Havilland at Wheeler End studios. They recorded a cover of the Beatles track “Everybody’s got something to hide except me and my Monkey”.
Goal soundtrack - Noel reworked Cast No Shadow, Morning glory Dave Sardy Mix and WPTWOTWOMS
City of Manchester Stadium - Again odd there was no official release, I think it was broadcast in TV.
2007 For the 40th anniversary of the Beatles Sgt Pepper album the band recorded the track “Within you, without you”. Apparently it was Liam’s idea to record a version like the one from the “Love” album which mixes Tomorrow Never knows and Within you without you.
Stop the clocks acoustic tour - some great moments from this tour
2008-09 DOYS Can’t think of anything at the moment

There must be a wealth of stuff that had been demoed by most of them during the 2002-2009 period. Some released in their later ventures like The Roller. Death in Vegas sessions as you mention, gigs, radio sessions. There must be tons of it and from that later period we've heard literally nothing.

So far, very little in the way of studio outtakes from the 1990s has been released. I don't think they've even accessed the original multi-track session tapes from the 90s so there could be heaps there. All they used were master tapes of the finished albums for remastering and the odd alternate mix that was on CDR or cassette tape for bonus tracks. The actual studio session tapes for each album - if they even still exist - have likely been gathering dust on some storage shelf ever since each album was completed.

Remember, Noel went on a few years campaigning that there were 50 tracks left over from the DBTT sessions. Probably half true with his usual whimsical exaggerations.
And the only music video that deserves an HD release is Lyla. Lyla brings back so many good memories from summer ‘05. Lyla’s video and concept are really cool. The video quality is not.

The problem is, there won't be many Noel-written/Liam sung stuff we hadn't heard, except maybe a couple of vocal attempts at Force of Nature and Little by Little... and they might not even be ready to be released even as an extra track if the vocal's not good enough. There'll be lots of: Noel-sung demos (in the vain of Don't Stop, Record Machine, Stop The Clocks) Liam-sung demos collaborating with Gem and Andy Gem and Andy solo demos. Especially around the Don't Believe the Truth time - there'll be loads of fragments of unfinished songs, demos etc. Soldier On is from one of those sessions - The Coral just found it on a hard drive at Wheeler End and the band had forgotten about it. I fear the sheer wealth of material and the work it would take to sort through it all to give us as fans something satisfactory won't be worth the time and effort when it comes to sales, unfortunately. Happy to be wrong, though.
