Get well soon Bonehead. As important to Oasis’s sound as Liam and Noel.

Gutted to learn that, I wish him a full recovery, I was glad that he was now permanently in the live band before we read the bad news.
Anyone knows how long it takes to cure that type of cancer: if things go well, is it a matter of weeks, months, semesters... before we can expect Bonehead to be able to get back on stage again?

Impossible to know of course without knowing the private specifics of his case or the type but it's definitely a process. Early stage tonsil cancer is typically treated with multiple sessions of high-dose targeted radiation, sometimes combined with surgery and chemotherapy. (In very early stages sometimes a tiny cancer can be completely removed by trans-oral surgery alone or in combination with radiation, which I deeply hope it is small and early.) However, if needed (and it often is), radiation to the throat tends to cause some problems with eating, swallowing and getting nutrition so it's not the easiest of treatments. The very promising news is that it has an excellent success rate in terms of overall survival, though it can take some time to recover and get used to the changes caused by radiation.
Everyone is different, and while there may be some tough times, he seems to have lots of necessary love and support surrounding him and encouragingly, there are many, many people on the other side of tonsil cancer doing well.

Really upsetting. Was looking forward to seeing him as part of Liam’s band in his NZ concert. But hopefully he has a quick recovery and I’ll catch him next time around 😊

oh, dammit, bonehead! it's probably the price he pays for his style of living back in his early days of heavy drinking and smoking.
one can only hope that it might be a trigger for certain people to reconcile in a way, because it's a heavy reminder of how soon everything can be over.

Nah, I understand the sentiment, but it's not about paying a price. Some people get cancer and some people don’t and sometimes it happens to the best, coolest, sweetest people while nastier folks do the same things and are fine. Anyway, a lot of tonsil cancer in younger people (under 60) these days is caused by HPV, a virus.

oh, dammit, bonehead! it's probably the price he pays for his style of living back in his early days of heavy drinking and smoking. What a stupid comment is that. Not everyone who "has to pay the price" gets/got this illness. Cancer took my dearest mum away despite she had a healthy lifestyle without smoking and drinking. It could happen to everyone. Anyway, back to the topic. Stay strong Bonehead and his family! You will beat it because you're a Mancunian!
