Serge seems like a tough hang. It's a huge lame shit show...SLP2... basically. I loved them and saw them plenty of times but they are dead now as kasabian You can tell now how much influence Tom had because as others have mentioned it just sounds like SLP - Serge tricks me as a very controlling artist who has a particular sound he likes and he isn’t flexible nor does he care what the fans want.

Tom says the album is better than the first, sold out acoustic tour which also looked amazing. Kasabian aren’t getting much buzz for their new releases from what I can see online - I do wonder if they’ll end up regretting their decision

They have their big summer solstice show coming. Tom struggles to sell out places like Frome Cheese & Grain and Papillon in Southampton.

On this forum..it's like the age old Noel vs Liam tribes. Looking forward to White Lies. I was hoping Sky would stop being tight arses and post more of Tom's own material.

Every now and then, I’ll hear a snippet of a song that instantly hits me like a ton of bricks. It’s happened a few times with Liam, it happened with Don’t Give In by Tom and White Lies it happened. I can’t wait to hear this song. I feel like Tom has had a very similar uprise to Liam, not to his level obviously but he was the underdog to his former band but slowly he’s over taking them and I feel will eventually become bigger than them. But he will always have the cancellation hanging over his shoulder from 2020 - not sure if he will ever completely get past it. Time will tell

Tom won't ever shake the shit storm but people will hopefully concentrate on the music as his solo progresses.

Kasabian did very well as the secret act on the John Peel or “Woodsies” stage as it’s now called.

Saw Kasabian 2.0 at Knebworth and while they’re pretty good live still, it’s down to the crowd knowing the songs. Serge is a good hype man but a poor singer.
I don’t know how anyone can say they’re better now, which quite a few on Twitter/X are saying.

No matter how much the hardcore TM fans try to write the narrative that they are done and he is overtaking them, Sergeabian, Kasabian 2.0, SLP, whatever people want to call them are still doing really well and many people are enjoying them.

Personally I think they are both done. Been done for a long time. For me and many others, the pair of them were done the moment Chris Karloff walked out the band. Both of them write unlistenable stuff these days and both have been irrelevant for years. Serge and Kasabian would have been better finding a co-writing partner after Karloff left (and lets be honest, kicking Meighan out the band ten years earlier). But I don't understand the Tom Meighan fanboys who hate on Serge for kicking him out the band, of which this thread is littered with such bullshit. What was he meant to do? He had no choice. It's still strange they'd hate on him more than a man who battered his partner in front of a kid. The mental gymnastics to make Meighan as a poor victim and pin the blame on somebody innocent like Serge is astonishing and shameful.

Excellent point with Karloff. Nothing else in their catalog sounds as unique as their debut. Not sure what happened to that guy.

New track - Above my station from Tom...Nice little driving track. From signing up to Road Runner 2nd album info I signed up, downloaded the song and it’s bloody excellent. I don’t know why he wouldn’t include it on the album but I guess the other songs are better? New album is called ROADRUNNER which sounds good but wouldn’t have been my choice for the album title. No official release date yet or track list He’s playing a gig soon where guests will have a chance to listen to the album playback before the gig - are you going to that?

I would have loved to have gone but being in Australia it’s not an easy task 😭

Also, has anyone listened to Kasabian’s new album Happenings? Thoughts?
I’m about to give it a listen now.
Edit: it’s average. 2/5 They should just stop making music

Serges vocals sound so strained and high pitched at Glastonbury- It sounded like a screechy mouse was upon the stage. Crapola it's over

I was literally waiting by my phone until 8am local time and boom, email with all the goodies. I agree with you, I’m disappointed in the bonus CD I don’t care much for live songs on a CD which doesn’t make me inclined to get the bundle - unless that changes I’ll just get the signed vinyl

Tom released the lead single for his sophomore album called 'White Lies' and it's fucking great. Above My Station was pretty mid imo but luckily it was just a leftover song, nowhere found in the tracklist.
Noticed the album ends with Would You Mind, and unless it's a new version (maybe with drums just like the live one) it doesn't make any fucking sense. Song came out 3 years ago and it was his debut single, appeared on his debut EP and made it as a bonus track for the first album. Wtf.
Yeah and about Happenings I don't know. I understand why they kicked Tom out but they should've ended the band there and started a new project. While there's a couple tracks I've enjoyed, I have to admit the identity is lost. It was a brave but poor decision. Maybe they didn't want to have a Beady Eye situation and the band's name sells enough by its own. But at this point doesn't make any sense to call it Kasabian.

Yeah ‘White Lies’ - absolute banger. Fucking love it so much, blows anything Kasabian come out with by a mile. While I think Above My Station (bonus track) was amazing & should have been included on the album, I certainly agree with you; a bit odd to end with ‘Would You Mind’ unless it’s a different style. Noel Gallagher has done this before though, where he included a song(s) we’ve already heard on his albums so who knows. Regarding Kasabian, I think they should have ended the Kasabian name and started again but they wouldn’t have wanted the same fate Beady Eye had.. Imo, there’s no competition between Kasabian / Tom Meighan - it’s very simple. Kasabian are shit and Tom Meighan is great. Serge isn’t the frontman Tom is either.
