I think it’s almost there. Its needed upping to 16x for about 4 years now, and it must have sold around 5 million now as I remember one official list stating its UK sales as 4.95 million.

Given its constant Top 40 presence and what it continues to sell on vinyl, as long as BPI stay accurate it probably won’t be long til it reaches 17x.

Well how much its sold and what it’s certified aren’t always the same thing; quite often BPI fall behind.

Like I say, it reached enough sales for 16x a few years ago, but prior to Friday its previous certification had been for 15x.

So im guessing it’s almost there but not quite at 5.1M yet?

There are different numbers due to estimated sales in 1995 and 1996, therefore the totals differ. 4.8 million is the official number moe, although the OCC have indeed mentioned 4.9 in 2018. Chartmasters.org, who also included club sales, which the OCC doesn't, had MG at 5.115 million in 2017.
