I reckon they should have at least stuck the word 'Christmas' in it, would've given it more chance to get played every year and make more money.

Best selling vinyl single of 2020 is amazing enough to be fair.

Imagine if he is genuinely no.2 and releasing it for streaming 2 weeks ago is what costs him his only chance at a Christmas no.1

It's currently in the trending chart on Spotify so that'll help the chart position too.

I've just had a quick look at the official singles chart and the song is down to number 60 from yesterday's chart. So I don't know where Liam got number 2 from unless he ment a different chart or something. This is another chart week, he's #2 counting just yesterday's sales as all the vinyl preorders automatically get taken into account from midnight of the day of release That's great news then. Actually I did wonder afterwards if that chart I saw yesterday was an old one. That's a hell of a lot of vinyls and streams he's shifted then . Weren't the mid week chart announced today on the radio?

He’s Number 5 on today’s Official Charts first look. He’s going to fall especially with songs like Ed Sheeran’s new Xmas song being released tomorrow but surely he has a chance to beat the high peak of 35 that it got to in its first week

Hopefully Liam will be able to hang in the top 10 or at least the top 20 until Friday's chart but we'll see.

First look today and he's #5, then midweek tomorrow, and then we'll see if we'll be able to get "unofficial" news throughout the week, it usually happens but Christmas week is a bit different for obvious reasons

I don't follow the charts so I don't really know what's what. Number 5 is a good persistion to be in even if it's just for today and I'm happy for Liam.

Yeah, he's clearly sold an impressive amount of physical records so far There's no hope for a number 1 (LadBaby is already set, selling like it's the 90s again), and realistically for a top 20 as well, but would it be nice if he got a top 30 or even just a new peak

I know his label and other brother read this for advice sometimes, so please stop releasing singles like this and just do it in one go. Thanks

Top 20 would be massive.
Feels like he did his promo a little early?

Top 20 would be massive. Feels like he did his promo a little early? He did the promo when it came out as he always does, it's still Christmas time so no much space for new music, but with even less opportunities due to Covid The "problem" is that this has been treated by the general public as a normal Liam new release, so its chart history is following the usual path Now as much as they tried their bit of PR with the whole "Liam for Christmas number 1" I doubt they ever truly believed in it at Warner, so they went with the stacked release counting on first week sales being high enough to guarantee him a good spot, taking into consideration that not much new stuff got released the same week, and then the vinyls doing their job in giving him another run for a nice spot on Christmas Week If it makes the top 40 their strategy worked as you'd rather have a longer chart run than a top 30/20 peak and then gone Aiming for more is completely unrealistic at this point

Anyway, went down my local record store for some Christmas shopping, small city in the south of Italy and all, and they are selling the vinyl
Not shocking, as I always found both Gallaghers solo stuff, but still very nice to see

It's not my favourite Liam solo single but it would be nice if like you say he got a top 30 or even just a new peak. However it's a shame that he's dropped out of the top 10 already.

I love how they released the three different versions ... have them all downloaded and in my iTunes now ... almost feels like an old school 3 track cd single!

looking at about 27 then i reckon by end of the week. A great success, but the talk of going for no.1 will make this look like a failure.

Honestly don't think anyone at all will see this as a failure (except maybe a few on this forum.) I meant more the journalists who hate him and want to create an angle. "Liam goes in at #30 after proclaiming chase for Christmas no.1 single" makes a nice headline for the tabloids, even if they know it's a good achievement for a man in his 40s. That's one of many things i despise about Dan Wootton. He did an article claiming Wall Of Glass going in at 27 was a flop. Then compared it to Noel's 2 no.1 albums. I can just about accept maybe he is just used to big acts getting no.1s and doesn't realise that acts like Liam don't usually chart, but its the fact he'd have checked Noel's singles charting and seen hardly any of them chart as well as Wall Of Glass, and still try to create a narrative to fool his readers. Too much power in the hands of these cretins.

Too much power in the hands of these cretins. Don't really think Liam proclaimed anything, though did he? He said something along the lines of "it would be nice" in a dreamy sort of way in one interview and qualified it with being unlikely in another. Anyway, would take a pretty ugly person to go after him for doing a well-liked (albeit not chart-busting) charity single in a pandemic. Even for Dan Wootton (who fits the bill), not sure there's anything to be gained from that. Haters gonna hate and all but seems there are far easier things to go after Liam for (if one is so inclined) than not getting a Christmas No. 1 that wasn't really expected.

Who tf cares what Dan Wooten thinks, he can get blasted into space as far as I'm concerned.
