Alter them how? The masses consume music differently now. Making physical sales count more in the charts wouldn't be accurately displaying what is happening with consumption of music. We gotta give up on the dinosaur ways. New era. the whole thing is a mess. The act of buying music and listening to music used to be two different things, and the chart was the record of the former. The advent of streaming means sales fell through the floor and to try and retain some respectability for the idea of music charts they have tried to make a combination of the two that really pleases no one. The obvious solution is to have separate charts without trying to force them together to create a 'master' chart. But this doesnt satisfy the marketing need to have a definitive #1. Exactly. It just isn't a reflection of what was bought the most that week. Lennon quite rightly says the way we consume is different now, but the way its been done is just wrong. |

Vinyl arriving today. Nice one. Is the demo the full band version or was that juicy forum speculation? Asking for me. just listened. It's not full band I'm afraid. Just Liam and a guitar being plucked. Not as forced as the released version and obviously without all the brass and stuff doesnt really sound that xmas-sy either imo. Just a lovely song. |

Liam sounds great but that awful strumming (reminiscent of the once demo) sounds off pace.
I've mentioned before i find the way of Liam recording and sending off the vocal for everyone else to do as they please a bit soulless, but i really hate the way they edit his voice. It's like they ask him to sing in a lower key and then make it faster afterwards. Then completely take any of the rawness out of his voice.
Since Liam has gone solo I continuously find myself downloading superior live versions to the lazily produced album tracks.
