It's not the worst thing ever, but the editing looks like it was done on a phone. There's a lot of excess and ugly, crowded visual effects. Why would I watch the video instead of just listening to the song? Whatever. If the video does well enough to push the song up the charts then that's good for Liam, and us as fans. Probably his least flattering video...the filming angle is just so shit in close up. Was there a dwarf filming that day. Cluttered video. Shirt on point though 👌 You compare this to I'm outta time video on slickness...and well. Stings of rushed to say the least.Song still great though!! A lot of the way things are done for Liams solo seems rushed. I get that they've done a great job but a lot of the key ingredients to that have been some very simple decisions. Production wise, seems like someone's writing him a song, sending it Liam, Liams doing a few takes into a mic and sending that off for everyone else to produce and wham bam its done. It worked with WMWN and the "success" of this single probably means this approach will continue. But the vocals on the "studio" version are so rushed and edited that they pale in comparison to the live versions. I dont want to have to rip live versions for all his future albums because of similar issues. |

Love how his voice sounds on the 'upon your windowsill' line. |

The song was at number 15 in the Amazon sales chart yesterday. I don't know about today as I haven't looked.

Same for me after listening to it daily since its release: it's pleasant, reasonably cheesy (fitting for Yuletide), but not that memorable at the end of the day. I'd give it a 6. The backing singers on the chorus of the BBC version add a nice hue. |

I've finally watched the video and it's ok but nothing special. It would have been better if it was in colour but I guess it was shot in black and white to get a better feeling of the song.

I really hope that it the vinyl releases will give the song a boost in the singles chart and as for the vinyl charts Liam's singles always seem to get to number one.

It's done pretty much exactly what you'd expect without the physical sales. when the vinyl is released it'll go back around 30. It's been a success for an artist of Liam's age but the stupid talk of going for Xmas no.1 has just given the haters ammunition.
I'm amazed Dan Wootton hasn't made an article calling it a flop yet.

The song is still in the top 20 on the Amazon sales chart, it's number 18 today and yesterday it was at number 10.

New era. the whole thing is a mess. The act of buying music and listening to music used to be two different things, and the chart was the record of the former. The advent of streaming means sales fell through the floor and to try and retain some respectability for the idea of music charts they have tried to make a combination of the two that really pleases no one. The obvious solution is to have separate charts without trying to force them together to create a 'master' chart. But this doesnt satisfy the marketing need to have a definitive #1. |
