i wonder where in the setlist AYDO is supposed to be cos its not on the end cos its still daytime ish Its was first by the looks of it. Probably because they were further away from the city and didnt want people recording it as it was unheard at the time. Thought it sounded very polished as well so it wouldn't surprise me if they filmed multiple takes and touched it up and that becomes the official video. Then once that was out the way they recorded the gig.

They should get whoever mixed the sound on this to produce the next album. Sounding incredible and takes the solo songs up a notch or two - especially the WMWN tracks.

Would an Oasis reunion even be that good? Feels like it can’t be topped.

Pretty much outshines anything Oasis did in their last 10 years or so. Well done all. I mean, massive overstatement. I'm glad it sounded like an ace gig (I'm downloading now as I couldn't watch yesterday due to work). Oasis gave some amazing moments in their last decade - Barrowlands, Finsbury Park, Buenos Aires to name a few. In terms of Liam's voice - well it's sounding as good/better than it has at any point in the last 20 years.

Another thing to be said is that no matter how many people complained about the price (or intended to never pay for it knowing they'd easily scrounge it), the money was on the screen, as they say. There was no skimping.
And it is ultimately that mix of cheeky punk spirit and ecstatic beauty (taking a turn from the mayhem of the Pistols' jubilee) that I think makes it work not just as a gig but as its own little piece of 2020 cinema. Liam on a tear, the city at a distance twinkling and shining -- it's a snapshot of the times: anger, isolation and promise all there.
Anyway, certainly throws up a high bar for what can be done as a virtual concert and hopefully puts a stopper on the era of people performing in their walk-in closets with static cameras.

I am extremely curious to know what the sales numbers were. I don't suppose they'll ever publish them publicly, though.
As far as setting a high bar, I think we have to remember that most artists don't have the kind of money to throw around on something like this that Liam does, nor the kind of fanbase that would give them a hope of recouping it in sales.

“This one is called Fade Away. It’s a bit emo” hahahaha, love him. I watched it today (au stream) as I was busy yesterday. I was alone so it was as loud as I wanted (thankfully my neighbors were quiet)! Great, great gig. London is beautiful as always. Headshrinker, Fade Away - brilliant, smooth AF and these songs were hard for him to sing when he was young (mostly bc of his wrong singing technique), so wow. Halo, River and Shockwave sounded really good. Once and CS - 😭 They all have done a very good job 👏 Thought he said "it's for Nemo" - as in Finding Nemo, given he was on the river? Was an excellent performance of Fade Away either way!

Would an Oasis reunion even be that good? Feels like it can’t be topped. The anticipation would be amazing, but it'd be full of coked-up arseholes causing trouble and Liam would be shouting over the top of the crowd. Plus I think what is great about their solo careers is they can both play what they like, you'd never get Headshrinker or Gas Panic at a big reunion gig.

This is never going to happen, but for me the dream would be Noel and Liam making up and then very occasionally contributing to one another's solo efforts. Like, Noel writes a song for Liam to sing on Liam's solo album, and then Liam guests on a song for Noel's solo album, that kind of thing. Friendlier terms and some creative cross-pollination, while they still on the whole each do their own thing.

For sure, not all, although some have quite a bit more and haven't done it. It's also always been true that lack of funds can be the mother of invention. You don't need helicopter shots to do something cool (but if you can afford the helicopter shots, it's awfully nice of you to give them to the people.) (Would also add that there was a definite risk taken here. When they went out on the barge, they did of course have reasons to hope it could generate sales and maybe even be something great, but no one knows for sure going into something like this if it will work. The footage could have sucked. People could have not responded. So points for the risk-taking.)

There was a moment last night at which it dawned on me that it would’ve still been incredible had he only performed songs from AYW and WMWN.

Agreed on the risk. And who knows, whatever its artistic success, it might still have been a loss financially. We may not ever know if it was profitable to do (although surely good PR in any case).

All these drives have exceeded the allowed number of downloads. This seems like a good reminder for people who have already grabbed it to pay it forward 😊
