Something that really grinds my teeth as an Oasis fan, is the amount of people calling for Knebworth to be released.
Others may feel the same, but it's a legendary gig that isn't even in the bands' top 20 gigs of all time. Liam's singing isn't the best (for some reason this is when he started rubbing his top lip up his teeth when he sang... becoming more of a grindy voice that was different to say Maine Road just a few months prior!!!), the band are decent, but compared to other gigs, it's miles behind their best.
I'd rather have a number of other lesser know gigs released, maybe Finsbury Park.
Thoughts?

I agree that it isn't one of their best gigs, especially when you have concerts like Earls Court and Maine Road from the same tour. But it was definitely one of their most important ones, and we know that they filmed the whole thing.
The release of Knebworth, especially after Supersonic, is more likely than some concert from the Be Here Now tour or Heathen Chemistry tour.

I agree, it's not that great. If it's not great, don't release it. We already have the definitive performance already with Maine Road - in their own backyard with an amazing performance. Knebworth in that sense is pointless - it is only a marker of how popular Oasis were.
What Oasis need to do is release a wide spanning live album like Bruce Springsteen Live 1975-1985 - it's not one gig but spans a number of years from various gigs, with bootlegs of great performances tidied up offering the best live listening experience.

I don't mind Knebworth but I'd rather have them release something that isn't already widely available

Would love a live compilation. Especially with Liam's live album doing well, an oasis live album would suit I think.I agree, it's not that great. If it's not great, don't release it. I think the reason a lot of folk, myself included, would like to see Knebworth released is not because it’s one of their best gigs, but because it’s a point in time (“this is history”). The culmination of two years of mania (and the start of the end of Britpop in hindsight). If you were there from 94 like me, then surely these gigs were a big thing and would be great to look back on them - especially if all the other footage other than just the gigs themselves were released too. A snapshot in time. It would be great to have some of those other gigs officially released too though - Loch Lomond, Maine Road etc etc

The mega gigs of Loch Lomond, Knebworth, Cork and Stockholm in 1996 should be included as a moment in time The footage we have (In HD) stuff from Supersonic and what we know exists would be amazing as a There and Then style edited footage with different songs from the different gigs on Bluray. - That is a big ask though! I have to say that any type of future Knebworth release would be a massive money cow for Oasis and a MUST for all fans.

LIAM Knebworth's voice is phenomenal. The 2 concerts contained the best Slide Away, the best Morning Glory of the 90s and an outstanding performance of My big Mouth ... The rest of the concert is obviously magnificent ... Sure in the top 3 of their career

Oasis at their literal zenith: "Wonderwall" at Knebworth, was officially released, but only as a Japanese bonus track, SMH

I personally would love a Knebworth release on dvd. But whether it will ever be released is another question. Maybe not if Guigsy and Alan won't agree to using their footage. But I'm not bothered about a cd release as I've already got them on bootleg anyway.

I want the Knebworth doc more than just the gig footage. They have tons of footage it seems, how it was organized, people who participated, everything. Not their best gig (although some songs sounded massive) but one of their crowning achievements

I'd want the 'Operation Gold' documentary - and there's obviously plenty of footage from backstage from the day. The gig itself, I agree, not their best, but there are some songs (Columbia for example) which sound brilliant.

Didn't Noel say that they had it professionally filmed? That's what I want to see, I don't care about the audio.

The Masterplan (from the first night at Knebworth) is on the Chasing the Sun release of WTSMG as well. All true, but I would consider "Wonderwall" to be their most popular song. So I'm saying that that song, at that concert could easily be considered the utter top of Oasis's career. (Even though it's not the encore.)

I'd love a release, totally agree it's not their best gig by far, but still. It's about the event

Do people outside of a band's hardcore fanbase even buy concert DVDs these days? No money in a physical release, surely?

I agree, although Knebworth is fantastic, he is not at the level of other Oasis gigs, mainly from the vocal of Liam. Gigs like Oslo 1997 and other Be Here Now tours are better!
Although it would be biblical to see images in full hd of Knebworth or complete Finsbury Park 02
