Can’t believe how great Noel looked in the Rockfield doc.
Unbelieveble.

So, I listened to Miles Kane cover of Hey Now, and as much as I don't mind the guy and I appreciate the effort of trying to make it his own and the fact that in the end it's just a way to celebrate a great album, he somehow managed to take away all the elements that make the song good
This lead me to think about how many times, because of how simple sounding the songs are and how the band appeared and presented itself, people don't really seem to get the cleverness and crafting ability of Noel's pop songwriting, nor the power and variety of feelings Liam's vocals can deliver
Everyone with an ounce of talent and some practice could probably play WTSMG in full on an acoustic guitar, very few people could write it and wrap it up the way Oasis have done

To be fair to Noel after watching it its looks like he didnt want to do it. So the Liam controversy...

Can’t believe how great Noel looked in the Rockfield doc. Unbelieveble. He must weigh 98 pounds.

I wonder what has happened to the thing where Noel was supposed to answer fan questions? Oh yeah!!! I was looking forward to that!

Can’t believe how great Noel looked in the Rockfield doc. Unbelieveble. He looked healthy but also for the first time looked 'older' like it was a retrospective of something decades in the past (it was). I feel when he's on stage he looks very much still someone in his prime but this made him seem older. Also, Noel was very complementary of Liam's performance but the way the documentary was produced it made it seem like WTSMG was a Noel Gallagher/Owen Morris collaboration where the other band members were session musicians albeit Noel admits Liam was fantastic on it. I genuinely don't think Noel was trying to discredit Liam at all but the way it produced definitely made it seem like it was a Noel/Owen special.

Plus there was the tease of the DYKWIM rethink but Noel couldn't be arsed with the rest. I'd at least have loved to hear the My Big Mouth one he allegedly finished. Oh did he?? That's definitely on my shortlist of other BHN songs I would really love a rethink treatment of. I do really wish he'd finished the whole album, but if he were taking requests (ha ha no), My Big Mouth, I Hope I Think I Know, and Fade In/Out are the ones I'd especially love cleaner versions of.
(Confession: the DYKWIM remix is what got me into Oasis. Latecomer, I know! But I stumbled onto that version first because the music video for it looked so much better than the 97 music video, and I promptly listened to it about thirty times in a row before venturing out to find other Oasis. It's still my very favorite Oasis song.)

First day, Wonderwall at 69 on Spotify UK, DLBIA 97 and CS also in the top 200. Off to a good start! Does anyone know numbers of physical sales?

I haven't watched any of the documentaries. I haven't either. Has any previously unseen Oasis footage or unheard Oasis music turned for this anniversary? I don't subscribe to YouTube anyway especially as I can go to Tubidy Blog on Bing (I can't find it on Google) and download Oasis/Noel and Liam concerts and documentaries etc for free which are all off YouTube. Anyway I'm not really too bothered about watching these documentaries to be honest.

So, I was born in 1993 and was around 7 when SOTSOG came out. It was the first album I loved and I adored Oasis from that summer. I subsequently listened to a few of their other songs but, being 7 wasn't a music freak. When I first heard WTSMG I was CONVINCED it was a burned CD of their greatest hits. There was just no way an album could have that many perfect songs on it.

Watching the Return to Rockfield doc, there’s a song in the background at around 17:55 with Noel singing. It’s very short, but I can’t place it... Something unreleased or just a random snippet of an outro with him singing that sounds strange out of context?

What a soulless documentary and celebration. This and nothing was the same thing. I get not liking it or not finding it particularly exciting, but what's soulless about it? He seemed genuinely happy about going down memory lane for a bit to me, and he was much more relaxed than he's been in interviews lately. It's clear that as much as he's moved on and can't get on with Liam that record, its legacy and those times mean something to him Soulless: "he seemed genuinly...". No, he didn´t. He was bored as hell, always coming with his usual answers "I don´t remember anything". "mean something to him": yes, more money. Let me tell you what is the problem here. It´s the mediocre management team and their lack of understanding of what Oasis was all about and what marketing/promotion/social media are today (just look how easy Liam´s tweets overpower whatever they post). If there´d been a great team, they would´ve found the way to skip the Noel/Liam feud and do something truly special to commemorate such an iconic album and cultural artifact (and without spending lots of money of course): people playing/singing the songs from home, telling what the album meant for them, a whole week teaching new generations the song´s chords/notes (I learned to play guitar with that album), people posting their photos of them in Berwick street recreating the album cover. Oh so many things. It was about people, fans. But no, they had to take the "one-man band" approach. This anniversary will go as a truly lost occassion.

The whole thing could have been so much better than what it was. Infact I think it's pretty pathetic just include Noel and nobody else from the band.

This is much better. I was still looking for something like the Classic Albums series were the artists goes track by track at the mixing desk and isolates different things and talks in detail, but this is at least something
