Maybe someone should tell this guy? Well what a surprise that Trump still thinks that he's won the election. The truth is American people have got fed up with this arse hole and voted him out. As for him not wanting to leave the White House is just typical of him isn't it? Also what a shame that we've got to wait until January before he leaves the White House.

I just hope that Trump doesn't decide to run again in an election. Mind you even he does I don't think that he would win again anyway.

I just hope that Trump doesn't decide to run again in an election. Mind you even he does I don't think that he would win again anyway. Once Biden/Harris take over, the whole tone of Republican media is going to change to focus on what they're doing in office. Twitter will ban him and they'll probably look the other way because they aren't going to want a nominee who couldn't win that second term to begin with. There's going to be like 99.9% less noise coming from the left that will agitate the right, the economy will get better, and people are going to be less responsive to his rhetoric because of that.

Just watched Biden's victory speech. Christ almighty, it's been so long it's actually emotional to simply watch a leader who doesn't evoke hatred.

As an American who has felt the hell that this country has been through this year, I cried at this speech. Today is an amazing day for this country. There's a lot of work to do and two months left with Trump, but damn it feels good to have hope and faith in something!

Going to enjoy Monday when both Alan Jones and Ray Hadley in Sydney have meltdowns because Uncle Rupert Murdoch lost the election for their favoured Trump.
EDIT: Paul Murray from Sky News (guy with beard in this photo) has apparently 'burst' on Trump's defeat according to sources #TrumpgoneScottynext

I guess the lesser bad won but not particularly excited about the results anyway. I hear you. I'm really glad about Trump's demise and the crying from his supporters, but when people start going on about how great Biden and Harris are I get the urge to be the party pooper and go "well, actually..." When following the election with my dad and he said "let's celebrate Biden's win!" I made a point to say "Trump's loss!" because I think there is a significant difference between the two. With all of that said, let people(and especially Americans of course)celebrate, getting rid of a fascist certainly is something worthy of celebration. But when Trump is out, just don't forget to hold him accountable so that another Republican doesn't win again in 2024. Because if Joe "nothing will fundamentally change" Biden doesn't change his current ideology one bit, that could very much happen.

I guess the lesser bad won but not particularly excited about the results anyway. Thing with this is that the majority of voters understand this though? This isn't anything new for anyone. As much as I agree with the progressive causes, the left has a tendency to patronise people with these statements. These 'loaded' and 'controversial' tweets are nothing but cliches now. Trite beyond belief. We hear it and read it time and time again, but what difference does it make? It just seems like political grandstanding without any proper action. It's not politicians, prime ministers or a president that is going to change this. It's individuals and their recognition of the importance of community and organising that will change it. I And by 'proper action', I don't mean 'power to the people' style protesting bollocks and reading up on Marx (because again, that's what the left think is all that is required to change democracy), I'm talking about creation of social capital, giving back to your own community and spreading the wellbeing amongst others. Volunteering, promoting civic organisations and thus promoting widespread attitudinal changes in society from one that is focused on neoliberal selfish individualism (that everyone is guilty of) to one of compassion and community and concern for what is on your doorstep. Then the cream rises to the top and you elect the individual that reflects societal views. The increase of social capital has been proven to change attitudes so there's no point in us sitting on our arses pointing at the politicians to do something about it. Biden ain't a bad man, I think he's a thoroughly decent man who isn't lying about who he is. He's honest about being a conciliatory moderate, who will 'work across the aisle' across the ideological spectrum (and his voting record and allies shows a broadchurch of progressives and conservatives). People know what they're voting for. He's not going to make that cultural and societal shift though but it helps empower you as an individual to have a stable president and one that doesn't repress your freedom to build and promote community and instead encourages fear and anxiety that destroys any semblance of community, like that fucking tosser.

I read earlier on the BBC news pages that Trump hasn't said anything yet about the election result. Mind you, he won't will he. He knows that he's lost and he doesn't want to face the camera.

In 2024 he will either be suffering from long-term covid and completely fucked by it, or he'll be deed, or he'll be in the gaol, or fighting all sorts of legal battles. He is yesterday's man now.

My favorite thing about yesterday was that the entire world celebrated as if the US just overthrew a dictator. Church bells ringing, fireworks, people cheering, dancing, and celebrating in the streets worldwide… may it continue.

I’m still wondering about Dewey/Truman. There’s still a twist or two remaining. You do know he hasn’t been certified, yet, right? You do know it’s going to the courts, right? Media do not decide who wins. I expect Trump to fail in the courts, but Bush did the same thing, and won. Gore didn’t concede until 36 days after the election. I have a tendency of celebrating pre maturely - Don’t fall into the same trap, it’s a bitch.
