At last Trump actually admitted that Biden won the election but then he typically said that the results were fraud or something like that.
I know one thing though I wouldn't want to be Biden having to clear up all Trump's mess which he's created once he takes over.

Believe me when I say that very well could happen in the next few years. Even if he's pardoned, that would only be on the federal level. The Southern District of New York District Court is still actively investigating him and the Trump Org for state and city level. New Yorkers want Trump's head on a platter, and after AG Barr personally intervened in the SDNY's business earlier this year, they seem quite willing to give New Yorkers what they want. But let me expand on that. I hope Democrats publicly investigate everyone in the Trump administration. DeVos, Mnuchin, Barr, Meadows, Ross, Chao, Jared, Ivanka, Don Jr., Eric, the whole lot. No pardons or leniency like Ford did with Nixon and his corrupt cronies. Make them all personae non grata. (Oh, and expand the Supreme Court and pack every court they can with young judges so leftwing that they make AOC look like Matt fucking Gaetz.) |

This is mostly true, though there are some loop holes to this and as with everything Trump has tested we don't know for sure until it is tested in the courts. While the Constitution states that you can only be pardoned for "a crime against the United States" (ergo the interpretation that it must be a federal crime), there is a belief that if the crime that was committed is the same in both jurisdictions (federal and state) then the pardon might apply to both. Given that Trump's crimes are mostly related to tax fraud, one could argue that a pardon for tax fraud would cover him in both jurisdictions. This is probably why NY has been careful to go after his charities and not him directly so far. I'm guessing that there is a distinction between being pardoned for personal tax fraud against the US government and being charged as an officer of a charity that engaged in local (state) tax fraud. That is all a long way of saying that I would not be surprised if this is yet another boundary that Trump tries to test the limits of, especially now that he has an originalist heavy Supreme Court in his favor. |
