^^^ *was. I’ve also since learned he’s dead. About 10 years ago Noel praised this song by Aphrodite's Child: I read on this forum (so its hearsay of a hearsay) that Noel and Richard Ashcroft when they were coming up in the 90s had a competition to see who could write something which took aspects of this tune and rework it into their own composition. We know this is a frequent tool Noel uses for his songwriting, open in interviews about taking bits from Pretty Things Baron Saturday for Bag it Up, Brian Protheroes Pinball for Riverman (among many other examples). Ashcroft apparently got there first leading the band through The Rolling People which contains unmistakeable elements from Four Horsemen, most obviously in the ba-da-dada hook / instrumental break part. Beck's tune Chemtrails from 2008's Modern Guilt record also seems to have been significantly influenced by Four Horsemen.

On a positive note (I think), I’ve learned who Demi Roussos is. Never heard of him. ^^^ *was. I’ve also since learned he’s dead. Did he like Definitely Maybe though?

This is genuinely one of the most ludicrous things I've ever read. It's nonsense. If you want to vote tory - and you have every right to do so, it's a free country - then you can do. If you don't, then that's fine too. Vote how you want, or don't vote. I always prefer to use a vote because people died for my right to do so but at the same time there's also the right not to. Noel said in the latest he hasn't voted for 10 years now. I don't agree with him doing that but it's his right. That doesn't make him a Tory. Because by that logic, anybody who doesn't vote Labour - in your eyes - is a Tory; whether they voted Green or Lib Dems or for Lord Buckethead. And that's a huge reason why Labour got so badly beat in the last election - this black and white, us v them attitude and trying to treat political parties like football teams. Yet the Momentum supporters can't/won't see it. So what's the point. I've been told I'm a Tory on here, despite being a lifelong Labour voter (for any election I've been able to vote in). And btw, what is 'toryism'? Please give me a definition? Wanting what's best for yourself/your family? Or do you think Noel is this ultra evil, tax-avoiding millionaire because he previously suggested people might be worried about their jobs after all this coronavirus stuff is over? Toryism is a state of mind and the the amount of Interviews Noel gives allows a window in to his. The way he talks about, money, politics, terrorism, celebrity and the way he treats people he considers to lower on the ladder than him does indeed reek of it. I may have this wrong but I always remember Noel telling a story about meeting Elton John? And trying to get Weller on the phone and Weller saying ‘You’ve gone to far mate’. It’s telling because no matter the status and wealth that Weller enjoys there’s still a bit of that lad from Woking in there. In my opinion Noel has none of that left, it’s why he participates in hatchet jobs in Vogue and has mates in the tabloids. But saying that makes someone a Tory isn't right. I don't actually disagree with you. I don't think Noel ever cared for who he was though. He's said himself loads of times - he hated his childhood and he wanted more. He always, always wanted more. It's why Oasis went and did what they did. Regardless of Noel's talent, Liam's vocals and the attitude etc, what really was the driving force in those early, early years was Noel's discipline/focus whatever you want to call it (and obviously then that spread to the other band members too) - and I honestly think that came from his desire to get out of where he was from and change his life. Regardless of whether that makes him a 'class traitor' or whatever, it's his right to do it. That doesn't make him a Tory. What makes someone a Tory is going down and putting that little X in the cross next to Conservative. It's a political party and by that definition unless you vote for them, which again is anyone's right, whether you and I agree with them doing so or not, then you're not one are you. Just like if I didn't vote for Labour in the last election, I couldn't say I had voted Labour. Maybe there needs to be a better word/label than just 'Tory' or 'Toryism' or whatever?

Hang on... are people getting offended (on Liam's behalf) because Noel's friend made a quite witty remark about his weight? Has Liam actually responded?
It's banter. Liam hs said far, far worse and I'm sure he isn't arsed.
It's the British sense of humour. Get a fucking grip you fannies.

Tbf I think it started mostly with the discussion about how losing weight is/isn’t/should be easy. Then as always of course, there was only one place it was gonna go, on a downward spiral until we reach the usual lowest common denominator of Noel v Liam. I’m proud to say I wasn’t having it. Just a discussion, everyone’s cool. And oi you! I can’t take you seriously with that profile pic, swear that’s Beckham?

That's a shame. Highly unlikely but would be amazing if we ever got to hear any of those demos.

New around here (not to Oasis) but mostly saw a few differing opinions and at worst light-hearted jousting (maybe one interpersonal issue, but that seemed to have a past history.) I respect that some folks only want to talk music, which seems cool enough, but given this is a thread about Matt Morgan’s podcast--which veers far from music at times—it seems whatever he and Noel talk about in a decidedly public format is fair game for commentary by that public. Anyway, might be the ultimate quixotic quest to suggest to Oasis fans to ignore the personal dynamics. It’s not the thing of course … but we all know it’s a part of the thing … Taking it too seriously is another story.

Haven't seen Suicide Squad (no interest in the Marvel / DC world) I'm alarmed at how easy it was for you to identify David Beckham's semi naked torso.

That would be a WAY better album than the one we've got (which is still my favorite of Noel's solo stuff so far)

Aye I do think the age of social media exaggerates the things Noel and Liam say to each other. Christ if people could see and hear what my group of mates say to each other. The slagging is brutal and ruthless at times but we all love each other.

Just hate how Noel pretends he has almost no music theory knowledge... it's so fake... of course he knows what Am7 is.

Just hate how Noel pretends he has almost no music theory knowledge... it's so fake... of course he knows what Am7 is. The thing about not remembering Melissa Lim is a bit sad too. If it was a one night thing, I could buy it. However, as Ms. Lim tells it, they were in contact for about a year afterwards. It was disingenuous in Supersonic when Noel said that he couldn't remember her face. I am not sure why he won't talk about it more frankly. The pessimist in me thinks that he is trying to avoid a lawsuit over the WTSMG title or Talk Tonight in general by claiming a more arms-length relationship.

Never thought about the "I don't remember her" bullshit in terms of lawsuits etc but you may be right. I always assumed that he doesn't want to talk about other 'meaningful' women / relationships because of Sara? Just like people avoid talking about exes in general? Similar to how he suddenly said that Wonderwall wasn't about Meg after they'd split up / he'd gotten together with Sara. Dunno... He seems to be pretty evasive of his past anyway, like when he pretended not to remember which single was up against Country House. As if. I still remember what my bike looked like when I was 10 years old but sure you'd forget about unimportant stuff like major singles, relationships

I really dislike how Noel changes stories to make Liam look bad. If ypu watch the show where the barrier breaks, Noel does notice the surge first. But they start to Play, and it is Liam who halts the song. They both also brilliantly engage the crowd while They figure out next steps.
