I remember the days when Noel used to say that he would never put remixes of songs on b.sides and what did he do for the final Oasis singles? Yeah, put mainly remixes out as the b.sides except for Those Swollen Hand Blues. Unbelievable when there was plenty of other good Oasis songs around which could've been used. As for Beady EYE, I like them but I'm glad that they decided to call it a day when they did and that Liam decided to have some time off before making his big comeback and I'm glad that he's doing so well.

Yeah, Four Letter Word is a blindingly great song. As is Boy With The Blues. I remember being surprised at how good it was tbh. Should never have been left off DOYS in my opinion. Come to think of it, The Roller and most of DGSS is better than Andy and Gems tunes on DOYS. That second half of the LP is terrible apart from Soldier On. I think maybe Noel had lost a bit of interest by then. Anyway, Gary, I still remember when you shat yourself on the pitch. Cant remember whether it was in Italy or Mexico but I hope you havenāt had any further problems ādownstairsā after this rather unfortunate event. Italia 90 I believe. Cheers Matt. Ah well, weāve all done it havenāt we...

I struggle to believe he wasn't plotting the solo album for some years before and purposely held songs back. I don't even think that in a sinister kind of way, he could have been planning a solo record while Oasis took a hiatus. Everything like the lack of b-sides, use of stuff like fucking Get Off Your High Horse Lady etc points towards this. I don't buy the reasoning of Liam getting married for a second.

Noel was talking about a solo album for what...8 or 9 years prior to Oasis breaking up?
It was at least 2000 if not before BHN.
If there were songs Liam wouldn't sing or would bitch about as 'not an Oasis tune' or whatever, I'm sure Noel held them for himself.
Also this just hit me with a wave of nostalgia. Band members threatening solo records. lol. Imagine that today? Who gives a crap. There are hardly any bands left anyway.

I don't think he was plotting it, he has a tendency of saving up stuff because it doesn't fit the flow or he envisions it as a single and there's enough singles on the album even now, and he used to save stuff for following releases during the earlier Oasis days as well I can't imagine him willingly keeping Come On Outside for himself just to use it as a b-side no one cares about 12 years later, I do believe he was approaching the late Oasis albums with the mindset that if he wrote 5-6 good songs and 3 of them were single material it was enough and he wouldn't waste anything else on it
With that said, in an alternate universe where Oasis are still back together I'm sure he goes, puts the band on hiatus for 3-4 years and makes that solo record I think he really needed a break from the whole stadium rock band thing

Come On Outside really is baffling. That song is a perfect fit on DOYS and is clearly better than most of the songs on there. Really have no idea what Noel was thinking of with that one, just whack Liam vocals on it and improve your record.

Canāt find the interview now, but he said at that point the band needed a good long break of a few years and everyone needed to do their own projects before coming back to Oasis. We know heād been talking to Gaz Cobain about a project before Oasis even split. My assumption is he intended that to be a side project type solo thing until the plum incident caused him to quit Oasis. When that side project then turned into his big proper solo album, he binned the AA for safe Sardy. Edit: the text isnāt legible now, but it was probably this Q Magazine interview from 09: live4ever.proboards.com/thread/88452/noel-oasis-split-july-2009Edit 2: found it on SCYO: www.stopcryingyourheartout.co.uk/2009/04/next-months-q-magazine.html?m=1āIāve got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great,ā says Gallagher. āBut theyāre not Oasis songs. Theyāre going to sit there and do nothing, so hopefully at the end of this tour Iām going to go and do something for myself.ā He insists that the break will do Oasis good and hopes the other members will also work on their own side-projects. āItād be really interesting for fans of the band to see how each individual makes up the whole,ā he says. āI donāt think itāll affect what Oasis do. It really doesn't make sense to me.

And it's a shame that it was wasted on a b.side.

On one of the recent episodes, Noel kept insisting to Matt that he doesn't believe in UFOs, has no interest etc. But this is a 180 degree turn from old Noel - even the book Forever The People goes into his pilgrimage to the pyramids in Mexico being tied to his alien beliefs.

I think that section takes his interest a bit too literally. One of Noel's favourite film is Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Likewise, it is one of my favourite films too but I don't believe in UFOs! There's maybe just an otherworldly fascination there that extends to the legends of pyramids that doesn't necessarily mean anything superstitious. Either that, or cocaine is a hell of a drug. As an aside, the original concept for the Be Here Now album was placing each band member in a different part of the world ('All Around The World') - Noel's choice was to be photographed in front of the Devil's Tower, Wyoming that features predominantly in that film.

'Velvet Building' becomes "Flick Of The Finger" Correct! I put the asterisk in for that reason but I probably should have typed it out. Sometime back I timestamped a YouTube video of the band recording what might be 'Velvet Building' in the studio. Unfortunately I can't find my post or the YouTube video. The video might have been The Ear Has No Memory but I'm not sure?

I think that Noel has a bit of an interest in UFO stuff too as I seem to remember that back in 1997 Noel and Liam did an interview for the BE Here Now release and I remember Liam saying that he believed in Aliens. If I remember right I'm sure that Noel made a few comments about them too. But I can't remember now without digging out the interview which is somewhere in my store room.
