The Strokes just released a new single. Another type of "unfinished Julian singing ad lib melody in the studio let's put it out anyway, it'll do to sell shows, where the money is" to me. Took them 7 years !
anyway, here it is.
I'll go back to the first two.

They do need it more than we can think. They come from rich families but they dont sell much records so they need money keep doing it, and their solo career have not been exactly that successful. Just to keep it going really. I doubt their parents fund their musical career. Casablancas even admitted it in 2010 when they did big festivals “Should I say the truth? Money,” he said when asked why the band agreed to play the shows. “Yeah. The offers were so crazy that we had to say yes.” Anyway, i was pretty excited for this record but the first snippets are pretty bad. Albert Hammond JR solo stuff is way way better.

Yeah it’s a bit underwhelming for a first single. Hopefully a grower.
Was hoping they might hit Edinburgh or Glasgow with all these gigs at short notice but no joy so far.

It's a grower, good song but definitely not a great comeback single, after 7 years I was expecting something rawer and with more energy than this slow psychedelic ballad, cool video btw.

Plus it reminds me a lot of another song, the chorus mainly. Cant say if Strokes or another band, but definitely very close.

I like it, but it's nothing that changes my mind that these guys lost it after Room on Fire. If this was a taster for the album instead of a single then I be fine with it, but this needed to be something special.

I can't believe it's already been 4 years since the last EP. Really enjoyed that one but this new song is a bit underwhelming.

I love At The Door. I have seen The Strokes in Berlin on Friday and goddamn, this was so fucking awesome. They are just so cool. The crowd was on fire, it was just insane. Couldn't be more happy. They played two new songs (Adults and Bad Decisions). The latter one is ought to be a killer track on the album. Really looking forward now.

I look forward to what they have to share. The last album wasn’t great but it did have a few good moments on it.

At The Door really grew on me, great song, it seems that they became really good at mid to slow tempo songs but on the other hand their rockers they don't bite as hard as they used to do on their first three albums.

They just dropped a new video and song called Bad Decisions, more of the old school type Strokes sound. Again like the song, nothing out of this world great but very solid.

I’m surprised they dropped another new single so soon. Album only has 9 tracks and is out in like 8 weeks.

It's good but they are like 15 years late with this song.

It's good but they are like 15 years late with this song. I hate to say it but they probably should have broken up around 2006. That 3rd album was lifeless overall.

I listened to At The Door a couple times today while driving. I wanted to like it. I really wanted to like it. But it sounds like a b-side from Angles - which I appreciated, even though it wasn’t a great album (I liked half he tracks a lot and the 80s sound worked well) - this one is hard to listen to all the way through.
I’ll come back to it again but for now, that’s the verdict.
I’ll check out the other new ones this week.

Bad decisions, much better, like a good early bsides. I'll settle for that for the rest of the record as it looks like they cant better themselves.

Found what song it reminds me of : cup of coffee by garbage, the chorus sounds like the bridge of that song

Been listening to Francis Trouble, the most recent Albert Hammon JR, and... what a record. Should have been the new strokes record really.

I like the new songs, nothing spectacular but very solid but I'm also a sucker for Julians voice. "Is this it" is still in my top three all time. Doesnt matter the situation this album gives me life
