I kind of like A Quick Peep, it's just a short intrumental and with that piano bar sound it sounds way more interesting than many other tracks on the album, would be interesting to hear a long version of it. When doing promo for the album Noel said A Quick Peep is originally 5+ minutes long. They should have used the entire thing. I kinda dig it.

Just to clarify, I'm not trolling. This thread is for Heathen Chemistry fans/people who enjoy any part of Heathen Chemistry. Not for mental midgets who can't tolerate disagreements. Thank you and god bless. Jesus, calm down. No need for that. this is ALMOST how I talked on the internet when I was an edgy 13 year old who spent all her time listening to pop punk songs about hating your hometown. but with an extra dose of edge.

I do think that Probably All in the Mind is over-hated. It's not good, but it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be. HUGE summer in the park with friends singing this LOUD & PROUD 3 chords,3 words, obvious harmonies - what the Beatles did best and people arent saying Love Me do is a crime to humanity :wank

Can’t hate HC, bought the CD from HMV at the same time I bought Super Mario Galaxy. You know for the wii. Remember getting home and slamming the CD on the stereo while playing Mario on mute. Every time I hear (Probably) All in the Mind it gives me instant nostalgia for Super Mario. Good shit

I’ve always preferred the songs live myself rather than the album. The 2002 gigs were brilliant, the Finsbury Park gigs were an absolute highlight of the tour for me. This was the last Oasis album I listened to on the day of release as I wasn’t that up-to speed with the internet, I mean literally being on the old dial up. Still to this day I don’t believe Liam wrote Born on a Different Cloud, storming song.

I think it would benefit from a remix and remaster. The production is awful, but bringing the guitars up in tye mix would help. It could also use a remaster for a cleaner sound. I'd actually challenge anybody on this forum to remix that whole album.

There was a clip of Andy playing it solo on an acoustic (I believe in Sweden) on YouTube at one time and that gave me a different appreciation for it. It could’ve been a monster.

Also I have to say I like the sound of She is Love, those organs played by Mike Rowe give the song a gospel element to it which somehow make the cheesy lyrics about love more acceptable.

You're right. She is Love gets a lot of crap but it's one of the most well-produced, mixed, and mastered Oasis songs in the band's catalogue. Everything sounds nice, warm, and up front. I wish that the rest of the album had been produced like that song in an acoustic vein. I understand that it was a back to basics album but a stripped-down, acoustic album approach would've suited the album better imo. All the songs that take that approach sound the best mixing and production-wise.

Its like he was musically castrated.

Always a fan of this song. It's one of the most refreshing songs on the album. Many people didn't take notice but, surprisingly, on HC the band tried a few good tricks: gospel organs on She is Love, madchester beats on Better Man, those saloon piano bar notes on A Quick Peep, the Bon Jovi-ish westerns on The Cage, even that slow harmonised vocals from both brothers on All in The Mind is very interesting, the problem is that everything just wasn't fully realised, so we ended up having a half cooked album, but also kudos when deserved.

Its like he was musically castrated. It wasn't like he was, he was. Keep the Dream Alive and Turn Up the Sun are good examples of that. KTDA has some nice guitar bits throughout the song and the solo is awesome. I just wish the song had gone from the solo straight to the outro or into some sort of longer, more shoegaze-y outro (a la Leave Them All Behind). Turn Up the Sun also has a killer intro and outro and while the middle part is good, I feel like the vocal delivery and melody is very basic and made for Oasis almost. It sucks to think that Andy's potential was kinda wasted in Oasis when you consider what could've been...

Well i still have some love for it. With hindsight i now view it as their weakest, i feel quite a few songs are poor (PAITM, SIL, HIABP) and the production is pretty bland overall. Still listen to SCYHO, Songbird and Hindu Times quite a bit.
However, it will always be the album that introduced me to Oasis, at the age of 6. Back then I watched Top of the Pops and got Now CDs, and heard SCYHO, LBL and Hindu Times through that. I liked them, but also realised they sounded like this tune Id heard about “throwing it back to you”, and asked my dad. He then got out his MG and DM cds, and i was a fan for life. If I hadnt liked the HC singles so much i may not have become an Oasis fan.

We’ve all dreamed up ways of improving the overall output of HC. The problem I keep running into is that Noel is just singing way too many b-sides.
1. The Hindu Times 2. Hung In A Bad Place 3. Little By Little 4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5. Songbird 6. A Quick Peep (5 min version) 7. The Roller 8. She Is Love 9. Thank You For The Good Times 10. Born On A Different Cloud 11. Shout It Out Loud
Is this a better record? I’m not sure.

1. The Hindu Times 2. The Good Rebel(Liam vox.) 3. Little By Little 4. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5. Songbird 6. A Quick Peep(Extended) 7. The Roller 8. Just Getting Older 9. Thank You For The Good Times 10. Born On A Different Cloud
I believe that'd be the best Oasis album. How they didn't record The Roller or The Good Rebel is beyond me.

'Thank You For The Good Times' is a shocker of a track. Shouldn't have been a b-side nevermind on the actual album. The only decent Liam sung outtake is 'The Roller'. The best of rest are all Noel sung which is the crux of the problem. Had Noel kept back the better b-sides from SOTSOG he could have released a pretty neat solo album in my opinion... Side 1 1) The Hindu Times [Demo]2) Force of Nature3) Little by Little4) Stop Crying Your Heart Out 5) Teotihuacan [Short Edit]6) Full OnSide 2 7) Let's All Make Believe8) One Way Road9) Revolution Song10) She Is Love11) Stop The Clocks12) Let There Be Love
It's pretty front heavy and I could take a song or two out if I wanted but I think it's not bad. Throwing 'The Roller', 'Songbird', 'Born On a Different Cloud', 'A Quick Peep' and 'Hung In a Bad Place' in contention for DBTT couldn't have hurt. And yes, this is silly levels of hypothetical
