People keep pressing for them to release Hello Girlfriend and I guess that will be the next single out. Four singles before the album is pretty outrageous but I know it's not the old days now and singles don't mean as much. But would also be happy if they kept it back until the actual album itself. If they do release another single, and it is that, then at least it's a song that has been heard so it's not like it's another track off the album which has been heard before the LP is out. I’d be happy with the pro-vid of Hello Girlfriend from Brixton asap, I’d take it over a single.

I've never thought they sounded *that* much like Oasis. They have the attitude/swagger to an extent (well, Tommy does) but the great thing about the three of them is they all clearly have different influences. The UK press (and fans to an extent - sure you'll know this from the group) are obsessed with Oasis/Roses comparisons because obviously we want another Oasis/Roses, just like how Oasis were labelled as Beatles rip offs etc when they're as much like The Who or Jam or Sex Pistols. Hoping this album cycle is really when DMA's shake off any pre-conceived notion of what they do. They have some songs which sound a bit like Oasis, sure, but they're a guitar band, so of course they might do. Silver sounds more like a Coldplay song to me but it's a fucking brilliant tune - I don't think anyone will label DMA's as Coldplay copy cats or anything! The one Britpop band they really sound like to me (and it's mainly the first album) is Cast - and I guess the scouse influence with Tommy has had a lot of impact on that. Weirdly, I think I saw an interview ages ago where Tommy and/or Johnny both said The Verve were one of their favourite bands from the 90s English scene.

They are the type of band if they released their albums around the time of Britpop or even the early 00's when guitar music was on the up, they'd probably be bigger names then they are now.
Not every band needs to reinvent the wheel, but in saying that they need to have good tunes if you can keep up on that, then they get a pass from me. I like them a lot, prefer their debut to the second album to be fair but surprised to find out their Aussie's thought they be from Manchester or something lol.
Good band to be fair to them.

I've avoided Hello Girlfriend all together so going to be a nice surprise. It's been hyped up a lot. Did you not catch it at the Brixton gig mate, or did you not watch the stream? Without spoiling it for you, it's been excellent the two times I've seen it (Brixton and then before Liam last year in Manc) Only caught bits of it mate but what I did catch was great.

What a beautiful song Delete is. Didn't even make me top 10, that's tells you something. It's mad because it's such a great tune but it's not one I ever really go back to. But it is brilliant. The Hills End listening party on Twitter was great. I got leathered on Friday and missed it, but replayed it yesterday (suffering an abysmal hangover) - it's such a great album and the band got a lot of love on Twitter from new fans and they're gonna do For Now soon too. Tommy was great on Twitter (using the band's official account) too and you can tell none of them take it too seriously. Absolutely love this band and their side projects atm.

It’s just clicked, PLANET supported Liam for a few Australian shows. I knew I’d heard the name. Nice.

I have nothing against DMA's, I think they've written some nice songs but what the fuck were they thinking for the song "The Glow" ? Awful mainstream production.

It's a pop song with pop production. Don't think any of their albums have been out and out 'rock'. These new tunes are made for big venues. And they work. I don't think it's their best track, definitely, but Tommy can carry most things and when you hear it it's catchy. Sub-3 minutes; it's a song made for radio.

The new songs are ok but I don't like this new electro-pop (it's true that they are a pop/rock band) direction. Plus... I saw the remix on youtube... I'm not the kind of person "this is not real music" but I don't like remixes of this type of band (hi Noel lol).

I loved his insta tv version, definitely suits the mood of the lyrics which are ethereal. Agree about the mainstream issue but unfortunately it’s that way or no way for any artists who want to grow, it seems. www.instagram.com/tv/B_uD8LiH4wu/?igshid=245o22o12tpr

^^^ Nice
Bit of a strange comment to make I guess, it’s just an intricate observation, but I love the way he uses and executes flats/sharps. It’s like they’re not just there for the melody, but fit the actual lyric explicitly. Also how a line of lyrics often don’t naturally fit to the end of a bar and go into the next so eloquently. A rare talent, this boy.
