There are times where I think of two songs I like, then i wonder... which of these two songs are better? It happens all the time and when it does, it really catches my curiosity to know which of the two are better
And so I thought of these two songs.

The GLIO bassline is more interesting than the whole of TSOL

Go Let It Out, easily. Melodic rocker, top song.

Roll With It, Go Let It Out, The Hindu Times, Lyla, The Shock of the Lighting
Noel was god at these types of songs.

Shock of the Lightning by lightyears.
Oasis own that sound, pure raw adrenaline, aggressive and nobody does it better. Go Let It Out is cool but far too derivative. Could come from any band.

Huh... Good thread. Literally two of my top 10 Oasis songs. I'll go with TSOTL.

Songwriting wise, TSOTL is very banal tbh. Yes, it has a nice big sound but what made fall in love with Oasis was the mix between their big, agressive sound and the melancholy of the songwriting (songs like Supersonic or Some Might Say, very refined melodically).
In TSOTL, there is no melancholy.

TSOTL is Neu! approved...
Michael Rother: "When I heard that Oasis single ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’, I immediately understood the idea behind that, the fast-forward movement, the strong surge in combination with a Beatles-esque sound. To me that’s an interesting combination, Neu! crossed with The Beatles ideas."
Michael Rother: "I immediately understood what they had picked up [...] This feeling of lying forward, or rushing to the horizon."
Michael Rother: "I’m always surprised when people talk about the drums and think that this is the essence of Neu!. It doesn’t make sense if you just listen to the drums and think that’s Neu! If bands are inspired by us are only picking up on the drums, then, in my opinion, are quite far away from understanding what really made Neu! You can hear this effect if you listen to Oasis’ The Shock Of The Lightning – it works if you combine their ‘Beatles-style’ with Hallogallo."

The thing I love about TSOTL is that it feels like it's constantly rolling forward and the energy is comparable to a supercut of Micheal Bay explosions.

Go Let It Out - Better production, mix, and vibe. Fresh sounds from the band to open up the millennium.

I'm a fan of both songs. However, Go Let it Out is up there with some of Oasis' best work in my opinion.
The Shock of The Lightening was a bit of a letdown live. The guitars were not heavy enough, and drowned out by Jesus' keyboards.

Go Let It Out feels more complete and the outro is better. I remember at the time it sounded like someone had made a song with an Oasis DIY kit. The Shock Of The Lightning is decent enough but it's lacking something to reach the same level as Go Let It Out. I'll give you this though; The Shock Of The Lightning makes you want to wear a parka and walk like Liam, Go Let It Out on the other hand is a bit soulless. What I'm saying is Go Let It Out is a better song but The Shock Of The Lightning has more soul.
Oh well 😎

It was so different than what had come before. Especially if you only look toward Be Here Now 2.5 years prior. - Beta Band style acoustics - Hip Hop drum loop - Gruff Liam vocals - No real guitar solo until very late into the outro - Heavy mellotron use - It has a whistle!

For me, these 5 songs are the absolute essentials from this period. If I saw any Oasis 00's Best Of without them I'd dismiss it immediately as it's these tracks which show to me that Noel never fully lost it. There's plenty more good stuff from the 00's I'd put in consideration (such as the two you've listed) but I believe these 5 (6) are the absolute must haves. This would be my shortlist. There are a few unpopular choices on it ('Force of Nature', 'She Is Love', 'Mucky Fingers', 'To Be Where There's Life'), some noted misses like popular b-side 'Let's All Make Believe' and some well liked Liam penned tracks 'Born On a Different Cloud', 'Guess God Thinks I'm Abel', 'The Boy With The Blues' (which I like too btw) but this is where I can most happily draw the line on what's noteworthy and not. Fuckin’ In The Bushes Go Let It Out
Who Feels Love? Gas Panic!
Where Did It All Go Wrong? [Demo] Roll It Over Full On The Hindu Times [Demo]
Force of Nature Stop Crying Your Heart Out Songbird Little By Little She Is Love Turn Up the Sun Mucky Fingers The Importance of Being Idle
Lyla Part of the Queue Let There Be Love Bag It Up The Turning Waiting For the Rapture The Shock of the Lightning
I’m Outta Time Falling Down
To Be Where There’s Life

I'd replace TSOTL with Let's All Make Believe. Also would put Songbird on there.
