It's a good compilation but I certainly don't think that it's the best as I much prefer The Masterplan and Time Flies compilations.

I think the only tracks that really needed to be on Stop The Clocks is βWhateverβ and βDβYou Know What I Mean?β.

We're still debating the tracklisting of a best of that is celebrating its 15 years this year.

Is it really 15 years ago since the Stop The Clocks compilation was released? Wow, I wasn't even counting just how many years to be honest.

Meh, it's not for me because I don't really love Talk Tonight, Songbird, HTWA, TIOBI and Lyla but it's hard to argue too much against the track listing from their POV.
It's got the Big 5 famous anthems from both DM and WTSMG with a splash of all the other well loved tracks.
Whatever should be on there obviously, that's the biggest exclusion.
But after that it's hard to argue the inclusion of anything else.
I love DYKWIM but it doesn't really fit, it's unnecessarily long.
Roll With It, Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Stand By Me could've been included. Actually surprised SCYHO wasn't as it's got that universal appeal to the casual fans. Roll With It is derided so I can see why it missed out and Stand By Me again is unnecessarily long like DYKWIM.
If I was to change it without my bias of my favourite songs I'd get rid of Talk Tonight for Whatever and SCYHO (even though I don't like it) for Songbird.
The Hindu Times and Little By Little could've fought Lyla for inclusion maybe? But Lyla had the appeal of being a fan favourite when live.

I love Talk Tonight and it's one of my favourite Oasis songs but it's not in my top ten. However, I agree that Stop Crying Your Heart Out could've been on it. Roll With It was released on the Japanese version as the extra track.

Whatever should be on there obviously, that's the biggest exclusion. Was it excluded due to the royalty share? Hopefully it's not money Noel overriding music Noel...

Let There Be Love does not deserve a place on Stop The Clocks. So many more meaningful tracks before it should have made the cut but I guess who cares. Itβs an endless Spotify era now.

Totally agree Lennon and letβs be honest they couldnβt get the right songs on the albums anyway so the chances of them selecting the right tracks and getting the running order right on Stop The Clocks was always going to be very fucking slim. Then again, Noel himself has said he likes people having to search for songs a bit anyway so maybe thatβs why he leaves stuff as b sides etc.

No greatest hits package is perfect. Some song is always slung an injustice. I think "Stop The Clocks" is a pretty solid compilation of what made Oasis great/special to begin with.

Yeah, I agree with you about Stop The Clocks it's s good compilation and it certainly has some of the best Oasis songs ever on it. And, like you say no competition is perfect.
