Not really. A good best of list would cover a mix of chart hits and fan favourites. Let's all make believe isn't there. The Masterplan, is there. It's filler, but is hailed as their best song. Whatever isn't on the album. Gas Panic isn't on the album. Born on a different Cloud isn't on the album. Everything about this is wrong. The Masterplan is a filler? Are you serious? To me, it is one of their biggest fault that they didn't use this song as a single after Roll With It.

The compilation is perfect - it condenses everything great about the band in 18 songs and I don’t think there’s a better representation of Oasis with any other release. It makes sure to contain the raw early vibes, the anthemic qualities and the introspective nature of the band. The northern working class identity is there in droves too.
I’m going to be bias because it made me an Oasis fan, but I just couldn’t believe how every tune was my favourite until the next one started. Noel got it spot on. It flows perfectly - even the weakest tune, Lyla, fits in this playlist well and is full to the brim of belter after belter. As you become a hardcore fan, you might think there should have been a spot for Whatever or Cast No Shadow or Listen Up etc but it’s nitpicking at the end of the day. Another great move by Noel was not putting ‘new’ songs on it, a cop out for any budding new fan - it’s always a cheap marketing trick that draws attention away from the real quality.
I’m often indecisive about playlists so this is a ready made one that has no excess baggage (18 songs is perfect number) and it’s just the perfect summary of Oasis. Far far better than Time Flies. A great release that means a lot to me personally.

I think Stop The Clocks does this wonderfully well. It’s got all the hallmarks that made Oasis great. Is it perfect? No, but then again none of these types of releases are ever perfect.

Just needs Little By Little to replace Talk Tonight Let's replace one of Noel's most honest song with a mediocre single from Oasis worst era.

Why don’t we just go the full fucking hog and replace Live Forever with Little James while we’re at it?

I actually love Stop The Clocks as it is. I like the length, the song selection and the flow. I prefer it to Time Flies.
The concept of Time Flies was good, but I think I'd have preferred it ordered chronologically and without She Is Love. That song on there annoys me. I also don't think it flows well as it is.
Stop The Clocks may be missing a lot of songs, but that was always gonna happen with them. In a sense they are like the Beatles for me. The Red and Blue have a lot of songs that could be deemed missing, and the allocation between albums is weird (e.g. six from Rubber Soul and 2 from Revolver), and they're somehow perfect as they are.

Haha, Born On A Different Cloud? You have got to be joking!!!! Nope. It's better than the masterplan. While I do respect your opinion and share the love for Born On A Different Cloud, it has to be said that The Masterplan has a far bigger place in the history of Oasis - which is why it's on the compilation instead of Born On A Different Cloud. If you're asked to introduce someone to Oasis with a set amount of songs to describe their catalogue, then there is no place for BOADC unfortunately.

I agree. I simply think it's a better song. Just like I think songbird is better than slide away. Not many people agree, and it doesn't make it more influential or important.

I'd rather it was the hidden track instead of Sunday Morning Call. And even then, it would still be a notable weakness on Time Flies

Let’s say a five song EP you’d give to a person who has never listened to Oasis. I think it has to be obvious - big big songs but ones that would flow really well and packs a punch. Brutally effective.
Rock N Roll Star Some Might Say Wonderwall Morning Glory Slide Away

It encapsulates everything that is Oasis, pure rock n roll (Some Might Say), the anthems (Acquiesce), the softer side (Talk Tonight) and the Punk (Headshrinker). If they don’t like Oasis after hearing that, then I’d honestly disown them

All in all, looking at the tracklisting I would say yes. This is a very fine best of Oasis, and listening to it, it flows really well.
Although a few comments:
-I always found it a bit strange to have 2×9 songs. At that time it was pretty common to have 18 tracks as a best if but then it was 1cd instead of 2.
-Athough I agree with Noel that he left off D'you know what I mean due to its lenght and that it would upset the flow of the album. But I think the whole be here now part/release it one if the most important chapters of the oasis history. So strange he didn't include it on STC. At least stand be me or maybe don't go away would fit very nicely on it.
-At the time there was a big hype of the stop the clocks song, so I was very let down it wasn't included on it. There was basically nothing new. It would be cool if they stuck some new songs like STC and Boy eith the blues on the Stop the clocks EP.
Overall I think this is way better than Time Flies.

I'm old fashioned, best of's should be singles compilations and Anthologies / The Essential should be a mix of big hitters and deep cuts. Stop the clocks is the latter but 18 songs is tight as hell.
Don't suppose anyone got a spare copy of the HMV limited edition DVD they are looking to sell for a reasonable price please?
