Obviously it neglects basically everything after 1996 apart from 4 songs, and best ofs are more or less irrelevant now in the age of playlists. But did Noel do a good job with the track listing?

I preferred the "leaked" tracklist:
1 Some Might Say 2 Don't Look Back In Anger 3 D'You Know What I Mean? 4 All Around The World 5 Go Let It Out 6 The Hindu Times 7 Lyla 8 The Importance Of Being Idle 9 The Masterplan 10 Half The World Away 11 Acquiesce 12 Champagne Supernova 13 Rock 'n' Roll Star 14 Supersonic 15 Wonderwall 16 Whatever 17 Boy With The Blues 18 Stop The Clocks
But also I have to agree what Noel says about compilations being for new fans who are discovering a new band.

Not really. A good best of list would cover a mix of chart hits and fan favourites. Let's all make believe isn't there. The Masterplan, is there. It's filler, but is hailed as their best song. Whatever isn't on the album. Gas Panic isn't on the album. Born on a different Cloud isn't on the album. Everything about this is wrong.

To some extent. Also remember reading that he wanted it to be like going to a gig and that it could have easily been three discs.
Time Flies is probably better for it though, especially since it came out just three years afterwards.

But it's still fine to say someone can't be taken seriously because of their beliefs and opinions. Bunch of hypocrites.

Come on, do you seriously think The Masterplan is a filler? Musically and lyrically is probably top 5 of Oasis catalog.
It's like when people say Wonderwall is a bad song. It's been overplayed to death, yeah, but it's pretty much a perfect pop song and the band wouldn't have been what it was without it

Ok. Fine, filler was an unreasonably strong term. I just think it's vastly overrated. Maybe top 20.

Not at all, I find it very odd.
Two disks with only 9 songs on each and so many glaring omissions, why just not have 14 songs on each and make it a much more complete collection?
An Oasis ‘best of’ without Whatever, D’you Know What I Mean? and Columbia is no best of in my eyes. At least Time Flies has the excuse that it could only use the singles

I fucking hate it tbh. Time Flies is better. What pisses me off most about Stop The Clocks is two CDs with just 9 songs on each. They could have easily fit more songs on it.

Good list. I would add these 6, so you have two discs of 12 songs: D'You Know What I Mean? Whatever Gas Panic! Listen Up She's Electric Columbia

I actually prefer Stop The Clocks over Time Flies. Generally I'm not into greatest hits releases. I usually own all albums by my favorite bands and now that CDs are dead, you can have infinite playlists on your phone or computer. I always liked how Noel wanted to be involved in the Stop The Clocks release so it didn't end up a shitty corporate cash grab. I also like how he framed it as the "ideal Oasis setlist" or whatever. He was very careful not to say "best of" or "greatest hits". Just an ideal compilation of their tunes. Does it have flaws? Sure, 9 tracks on each CD is weak. Def could have been 10 and 10 or 12 or 12. Whatever and D'You Know What I Mean definitely deserved placement. Mega tunes from a mega band.

I don’t think born on a different cloud should have been on any record but certainly not on a best off.
Suggesting otherwise actually answers the age old question whether opinions can be wrong.
Apparently they can

Yes. It's a Best Of, Oasis did their best tunes from 94-96 so of course that will be the majority. Best of albums aren't for hardcore fans, they are for people dipping their to into the discography for the first time, so it needs to showcase the best music it can. Personally if anything the like of Lyla, Importance of Being Idle and Songbird are lucky to be there when Whatever, D'You Know What I Mean, Don't Go Away, Listen Up, Roll With It, Columbia, All Around the World, Cast No Shadow, Stand By Me and Rockin' Chair are missing. The only old one where I look at it and think maybe it could be shifted is Half the World Away

Might not belong in this thread but whatevs,
I actually think the streaming era suits bands like Oasis perfectly. Now songs like Listen Up are just as accessible as Wonderwall. There are no bsides, so the kids (or -ignorant up until now-adults) just getting into Oasis can just put songs on random and the fact it originally was bside, single or album track is of no consequence, it’s all there.
Best of’s especially are redundant, which is just as well because neither of Oasis’ do them justice at all

Except for Half The World Away and She's Electric, all the most listened Oasis songs on Spotify were singles. Sure, there might be a few new fans streaming Listen Up (I was one of them back in the day) but it's a minority.
