We all have them, no need to explain, just vent your spleen here no matter how controversial or no matter how guilty you feel about it. What are your opinions that seem to start riots? Here’s mine: - Pearl Jam are a much better band than Nirvana
- The Who are shit
- Led Zeppelin are shit
- Coldplay are legit a great band
- The last three Arctic Monkeys albums are far far superior to the first three
- Pete Doherty was never talented
- Kate Tempest is nothing but a middle class indulgence
- Ed Sheeran is Britain’s greatest songwriter since Paul McCartney....... oh okay that one’s a joke.

Used to think it was good, you know just automatically, in the way that people rave about A Day In The Life. But when I think about it and properly consider it, yep you’re right, what a pile of shite it is!

Nickelback have a couple of solid songs and are miiiiles better than their reputation. I don't care how bad a band can be at their worst, if you have actual good songs you can't be the worst band ever, end of story.

Good topic. I'll go with the first four that come to mind and explain them a bit.
- Coldplay's "Viva - Mylo - Ghost Stories" trilogy is better than their "Parachutes - A Rush - X&Y" one. I don't think there's a massive gap between them, but for me the 2008-2014 run shows the band embracing their natural pop instincts, and pushing them through three distinct sounds, all three of which are better than the drab X&Y and the overly indebted Parachutes. There's a lot more experimental material to balance the hits, the sound is more vibrant, and the lyrics are better too. On the whole, I think they found their voice a bit more post-2007.
- Relapse is Eminem's best album. Okay, if you don't like the accents, I can understand this one winding you up. But I think that if you take the Refill tracks into account, Eminem has never had a more consistent, well-produced, well-rapped set of tracks than this. Deja Vu in particular might be his best-ever song, and I'm a sucker for the cheesy horror-core vibes of the album, too.
- Queen are the most over-rated thing in music. I don't even think they're bad, they're just really not that good. I like Another One Bites the Dust as much as the next man, but stuff like Bohemian Rhapsody or We Are the Champions is horrible, and I hate how they've been allowed to reach this status where everyone feels that they love them, even if they've never once listened to one of their albums. It was decided at some point that Everybody Loves Queen, and it winds me up a bit.
- The 2010's have been the best decade for music. Well, maybe second to the 1990's. But the point is that the most underrated era in music is always, without exception, the present. And it's a shame, because music has been so, so good this decade! You've had amazing artists at the top of the charts, the explosion of experimental hip-hop, great indie, and electronica like Arca, SOPHIE, and FKA Twigs that melts your brain in such a good way. Rock hasn't been the dominant genre, but stuff like The War on Drugs, Arcade Fire, Car Seat Headrest, and Tame Impala have kept the fire burning well. Even country has had a resurgence, with Kacey Musgraves winning the best-album Grammy and Old Town Road becoming the longest-reigning Billboard #1 ever. And to top it all off, music has never been so easily accessed, easily discussed, and easily spread. Golden age.

The Verve were the last all time great band where each member pulled their weight on the songs and were essential to each track. No band currently going will match their synergy or spiritual tether. We talk alot about how Ashcroft isn't much without the Verve, well, McCabe, Jones and Salisbury aren't either. The lack of output from McCabe and Jones in recent years points to my point.
Ride's latest albums Weather Diaries, Tomorrow's Shore EP, and This Is Not A Safe Place are better than any of Noel and Liam's solo catalog. Noel held Andy back in Oasis and Liam held Andy back in Beady Eye from making the music he was destined to craft.
The Stone Roses' Second Coming LP is an all time great record from the 1990s. It is no where near the greatness of the debut but it's a terrific album in its own right.
Paul was (is) the most talented Beatle.
Alen 'Reni' Wren is the greatest drummer of all time (in his prime). Jimmy Chamberlain is a close second. John Bonham was the world's greatest technical drummer but Jimmy and Reni are full on groove.
Eddie Hazel was the best guitarist to ever grace a fretboard and pedal kit.

My unpopular music opinion? Liam Gallagher's Why Me Why Not is a forgettable album outside of One of Us, Once, and Gone because it lacks enough of Liam's defining rough edges and personality. Don't mind him working with co-writers, it's just that in this case it seems that the people who helped him ironed out all of the awkward Liam-isms we'd all gotten so used to. Maybe some people are glad we don't get songs like You Better Run on WMWN, but songs like that with crazy derivative lines like "angels, gimme shelter, it's all gone helter skelter", while cringe, added charm to the tunes because they were delivered with such power and certainty that they made you certain too.

I agree. The production is fatiguing to where each song falls into the next and after listening to it, it all feels the same. I think that's why Once and One of Us are so good since they feel like Liam in his rawest form. Shockwave is like that but damn I can't get over how boring those "Hey"s sound in the chorus. Misunderstood is pretty good, though, and there's a couple other good ones. Really, it's not that the songs are bad, it's just that they're same-y, just like the production of it.

Queen are a ridiculously overrated, novelty band.
The Verve are better than Oasis, Coldplay and Stone Roses.
Coldplay became generic and shit after X&Y.
Today's most talented rapper's, hip-hop artists and DJ's are in their 40's and 50's.
Thom Yorke's voice and Radiohead's music should be regarded amongst the greatest of all time. (but im kinda glad they're not)

- Bob Dylan’s voice sucks the fun out of his own songs.
- Bruce Springsteen is very cheesy with his cheesy dance moves and singing cheesy american melodramas, Streets of Philadelfia is great indeed with its haunting keyboards and drum loops, he should have follow this direction.
- The problem with the rock scene in the 2010's is that they badly needed a boost of testosterone and better clothes, they got the songs but they don’t have the looks, no wonder hip hop artists like Kendrick Lamar and Kanye West got more attention, they look waaay cooler than say posh boys like Vampire Weekend.
- Arctic Monkeys still UK rock's brightest hope.

- Bob Dylan’s voice sucks the fun out of his own songs. I for one would love to hear a different singer make the chirphy nature of songs like Ballad Of Hollis Brown and Only A Pawn In Their Game more noticable.

The british/irish hip hop scene is much more exciting than the american one right now
Foster The People are amongst the top 5 bands of the decade, they only get dismissed because of Foster's past as a jingle maker
Miles Kane's output has been pretty decent throughout his career despite him failing to live up to the initial hype
The 1975 are a great fucking band
Liam Gallagher's solo career is overrated, although not bad in any way
Logic's Everybody and Young Sinatra IV are good albums, especially the latter, Confessions (and the Supermarket soundtrack) is his only shit record
Pearl Jam are overrated, Queen are overrated, The Police are overrated
Frank Ocean is a genius and the best american artist in the last 20 years
Never Mind The Bollocks is better than anything The Clash ever put out, even London Calling
Jamie T should be regarded as one of the best artists of his generation

- The Kinks were better than The Beatles
- Radiohead disappeared up their own arses after The Bends
- Of course PJ are better than Nirvana..........
- Oh, The Small Faces were better than The Beatles too
- The 1975 are SERIOUSLY overrated
- The Killers are muck
- The Stone Roses' Second Coming is better than their debut
- Every band should have a scissors player
- Slayer are one of the greatest bands to ever grace the planet, they're imminent departure will be sorely felt......

- The Rolling Stones are average. Mick Jagger is a mediocre singer with a piss weak voice and Keith Richards is a derivative guitar player, a bunch of posh middle class lads pretending they are from the southern states of America. Insanely derivative band. To be even mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles is a horrific insult to the Fab Four.
- The Stone Roses are overrated. I like them but three shit tunes on an apparently mesmerising debut (the rest is great though) is three too many to be considered truly great and the Second Coming is just a self-indulgent egotistical guitar wankfest from John Squire/li]
