Some of the new song selections are odd, while I really like You've Really Got A Hold On Me, it doesn't scream 'best of' to me. You can tell a lot of George's stuff is on there because it gives him some representation. I Saw Her Standing There (which sounds amazing on it) and Twist and Shout should have always been on it. I'd have picked I'll Be Back or Things We Said Today over You Can't Do that easily. The biggest miss is why isn't Rain on it. Helter Skelter also should have included over some of the White Album picks. It's a pain that all the new tracks are on the third record on the vinyl version. I'm still loving Now and Then BTW. My theory is You Can't Do That was picked because 'Can't Buy Me Love / You Can't Do That' came out almost 4 months before the A Hard Days Night album, so it was ingrained in OG Beatles fans' brains long before the album came out. No Rain is a crazy choice, definitely the biggest omission. I also think 7 songs from both Rubber Soul and Revolver is a bit much. The new songs on the vinyl version being all together on the third disc is such a weird decision, it completely ruins the flow. I'm very happy with my 4CD set where the track order runs chronologically. I also grabbed a 7", CD & cassette of Now and Then.

Well I figured Tomorrow Never Knows checks off the weird column for John on Red. I’d rather a George original like I’m Happy To Da nce with you over a cover. For I’m only sleeping I guess they wanted to show the progression in the songwriting I suppose. Or it’s just random choices 😅 plus that song has a very John theme, one of his first criticizing modern society. Roll over Beethoven was kinda a « hit » for George back then it was « his moment » when they played it live, so for this one, it makes total sense. Way more than his original songs . It’s an important song for the Beatles that they played a lot in the early years. A bit like walrus for Oasis. I would have figured “Twist and Shout” was their Walrus live cover. It was played regularly and at all the big gigs. It was a million selling single in its own right.

Can't see them reworking Free As A Bird or Real Love again, and whether they should is a debate in itself (personally would just leave in the past).
In the use of AI, the next best thing would be to see if they can clean up old live recordings. Heck, at the rate technology is advancing they might even be able to sort out scruffy bootleg recordings. There could be a vast number of tapes that could make up a new live compilation. Would definitely love to have a remixed AI assisted Live At The BBC Vol I & II.

Couple of questions to the experts on here.
Is there much more unreleased Lennon stuff? Seen a few things on Youtube
How much footage is there from the White Album sessions? There appears to be some about.

This is from 1968 - Hey Jude didnt make it on The White album Then there is this - You can hear Paul doing Helter Skelter and Blackbird whilst John is talking to George Martin I'd love to see more if it exists

That new mix of I Am The Walrus... The outro is nonsense and his dad's strings are completely either drowned out or hard faded to zero. What was Giles thinking here?

Just listened to this for the first time and came in here to write the same thing; it’s awful! Thankfully we still have the original to enjoy but I really don’t know what he was thinking

Band on the run (underdubbed mixes) : what do we think ?
I vote completely unnecessary. Except maybe for picasso’s last words
…When Back to the Egg is waiting to be reissued for the last 40 years.
Sounds completely all over the place, and mix is weird. Kinda breaks the magic of that record really

Were the BOTR demos that got stolen off him and Linda ever recovered?

I stumbled across a small record shop last Saturday and they had an original 1962-1966 for £20. Had to have it. And it still sounds amazing

Unbelievable article! Really is the holy grail of musical finds! I literally can’t believe it happened - have been following the Lost Bass project but it’s the smallest needle in the biggest haystack! Obviously he’ll get it repaired, but are we going to see it on the road alongside that other original 1963 Beatles bass he still plays?

I have no idea, I just trusted the shop owner that it was an original 😳 probably isn’t 😂
