Now and Then is good song, I liked it more than I expected. I’m sorry, Paul, that I doubted you

This is fantastic. His voice is so clear. I'm sure they're re-releasing it and Real Love soon with better audio. This is not good imho. John sounds off key on the verses, it was better buried.

I love what they have done for Free as a Bird, Real Love and Now and Then but I'm not into all these new mixes and remasters etc. I just want to listen to how they were recorded originally in the 60's with the equipment they had at their disposal at the time.

I originally replied saying it was the original vocal cleaned up, but after further listening back to back with the original demo and the released track, both 1996 and 2015 versions, I am noticing some vocal variance differences. It must be an ML conversion he used but not sure why he didn't just specify that. Unfortunate, thought it was the real deal. Mighty close though. This might be worth it to you however - the original demo, cleaned up and sounding better than ever.

Yeah, but, i prefer the "original", both John's demo and the Beatles version. I never noticed his vocals were that off key on the demo, which is just piano and vocals, because the piano is also a bit off key and weird Both versions took into account the mistakes in the vocals, and that's made its charm. Something a bit odd. It doesn't need to be cleaned up, but it needs to be buried a bit. That's the greatness of demos. they are imperfect, but unique. when it's too polished... meh. That's the "problem" i have with Now and then. It sounds just too clean.

I made FAAB and Real Love vocal cleaned up mix personally, because when I looked around there's AI-generated fake or very different 2015 remix that included unused take. Youtuber loves AI fake so much, I give up.

Couldnt really pinpoint what's wrong with Now and Then. But that guy did
It's a song that sounds like a collage of music from different eras : vocals from 70s, guitars from the 90s and the rest from the 00s. That's why its kinda weird. Not bad, not great, just weird

He's not really a critic, he's more a music producer and composer. I never heard of the guy and just stumbled upon that video wich looked interesting, and it was. For youtube that is.
Something is a bit odd with Now and Then, they did a better job in the 90s, but they were 30 years younger.
Let's just say it could have been a lot better.

Red and Blue remixes are available on streaming now. Blue is already up to 2 on the iTunes chart behind Chase & Status. Would be good to repeak at 2, 40 years later

Shit. Early reports from people who got their blue album early says Giles did fumble the ending of Walrus. Fuck! "Oh untimely death!" is still there but everything is buried in the right channel. Not sure why change it at all.

Listening now, hope the next ones to be released are Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine 'albums'.
Walrus does sound a bit weird... edit ok that's a bad mix. I guess they wanted it to sound different to have something to sell, coz it's not really the most interesting release.

Listening now, hope the next ones to be released are Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine 'albums'. Walrus does sound a bit weird. Yellow Submarine was done in 1999, minus the Martin orchestral portion. It's called "Yellow Submarine Songtrack". Blue Jay Way has a remix uploaded in 2018 as a music video, so that leaves YMSK and Flying.

They need to do it the way they did it recently with outtakes and maybe demos and Giles Martin. They are both interesting albums sonically, i'm sure there's buried layers we need to hear.

I really enjoyed the 2023 mixes for the red album. I can get behind Walrus too, but I think it's too much of a change from the old song to me.

I really enjoyed the 2023 mixes for the red album. I can get behind Walrus too, but I think it's too much of a change from the old song to me. I think a ton of the Red album sounds fantastic all cleaned up and separated channels of instruments. On the flipside, this ad hoc release to support “Now and Then” has kind of cannibalized a ton of future reissue albums by taking those albums highlights and placing them here years prior to them getting released properly. Truth be told I only really needed Rubber Soul, Help and Hard Days Night.
