I struggle to believe that is the artwork. First off, none of their cover artwork from albums to singles has ever featured the band, not even in a distorted form. But most of all, it’s utter shit!! The old 1919 promotional image is really cool, it’s evocative and grabs the attention and I’ve even seen it on London Underground adverts but why have it flipped? What is the actual point? The original artist did so for the last album but that’s intentional as it’s kaleidoscopic, this isn’t. Everything just seems jarring from the album title in multicoloured form yet again unimaginatively rehashing elements of the last album artwork (and in no way does it fit the aesthetic of the 1919 portrait, then you have a bright sparks idea to have the bands name in Arabic? A bit of a PR dud there!! I think some bullshitter has photoshopped it onto Amazon with those made up titles. And not a very good bullshitter. (Pin this post when it’s revealed to be the official artwork and titles!). Agreed about the cover art, but those titles are just as bad as AHFODs ("Hymn for the Weekend", "Fun", "X Marks the Spot", "Amazing Day"). I wouldn't be surprised. Exactly. Aweful titles. Fun? What a joke. Please call me daddy!

And please. For the love of god. No more cheesy short interludes eating into album track numbers.

So apparently the “leaked” artwork was from Amazon Canada. The “leaked” tracklisting is from Amazon Italy. Also Third Man Records? Come on. That is tough to believe.

First 3 albums were brilliant then they sold out.
It fucking annoys me looking at the hack of them nowadays.

Someone told me recently that this song is about lovers in Isreal/Palestine, and wow. I hadn't thought much about the "guilty of nothing, but geography" line before, but it hits quite hard now. One of my favourite Coldplay tunes. Don't let it get lost amongst the Funs of the album.
Also, the latest rumour is that we will be receiving both Orphans and Arabesque tomorrow, as a double-single. Just a whisper, a whisper, a whisper, a whisper...

A leaked snippet has come out of the lead single.
As you can imagine it’s a paint by numbers, shite pop song (SHOCK)
Coldplay post 2008 still shite then.
I wish Coldplay would just keep making their own version of “Heathen Chemistry” and just keep ripping off their second album like Oasis did. It still be way better than this muck.

Well, two clips. Very bluesey in one track, like Arcade Fire's Get Right. That is in good quality. The other sounds dancier, more chart-friendly, like a world-music version of Adventure of a Lifetime. That's very low quality, though, so it's hard to comment. I dig the sounds of them both, but then I like shite modern pop and think Mylo Xyloto is better than Parachutes. We'll see how the full tracks pan out.

Get your head examined fella I also think Viva - Mylo - Ghost Stories is a better trilogy of albums than their first three. Not controversial on the pop music forums I go on, but on here I like to think it's the kind of opinion that will discharge steam from people's ears. Anyway, it seems pretty nailed on that the bluesy track is Arabesque, and the dancier one is Orphans. Both slated for a release tomorrow. I think Oldplay fans such as yourself will enjoy the former at least a little, so let's look forward to the bright sides

I can’t judge off these clips. Proper listen tomorrow around this time. Thanks. My thoughts exactly, said the same thing on Coldplaying.com - any real opinion at this stage is just guesswork. I think Arabesque sounds intriguing, I don't think they've ever done music as blues-rock-sounding as that before. Hopefully the song is as interesting as the vibe. That clip was CD Quality, though. The Orphans clip is far too distorted and chopped-up to make any comment on besides "I like that little guitar note Jonny does in the middle". I get the feeling we're gonna get a very eclectic album here. Some for the Oldplay fans, some for the Newplay fans, some styles they haven't done yet. All will be revealed.

I’d love this to lean more Viva vibes but I got a feeling it’s gonna be more like AHFOD. And if that happens, please be like the title track, birds, AOAL and Up&Up. Leave the rest behind. Forever.

Had a bit of hope when I was hearing things about ‘experimentalism’, and though I haven’t heard the clips, I’m not filled with confidence with what people are writing.
It’s not an issue of them being mainstream and latching onto modern trends. That is not the problem. For example, I absolutely adore Magic to bits which is as contemporary as anything they’ve done, it really is one of my favourite songs of theirs. However, stripping most of these songs down to their bare essentials reveals what flimsy, lightweight insipid songwriting has come from Chris Martin of late.
It’s just really poor songwriting and the uninspired song titles gives an indication as such. I’m not averse to them doing the kind of things they do to stay contemporary because being contemporary is not a byword for poor quality (as much as the indie kids say), and I so so want them to release another brilliant album, but I just can’t see it.
It will be interesting to see what they do in a few years when they fade from the limelight of the youth generation for the first time in their career. I pray to god they don’t go down the U2 route in desperately seeking radio hits with duff producers (despite, erm, not actually being played on radio apart from housewives favourites Radio 2) because I think it would be a shameful waste of Chris Martin’s talent, someone who I genuinely believe is awe inspired by so many genres (more so than most of his peers) and can incorporate any sound into his music effortlessly.
