It’s okay. Pleasant but definitely inferior to the other two. Really generic lyrics I think but the strings are nice and there the odd nice little guitar effects going on. I think it could have easily have been another saccharine Amazing-Day-style ballad, but the more mysterious arrangement saves it. Not great, but nice. Like I said, I think it'll sound better as the end of a journey, rather than as a pre-album teaser.

The fact they're promoting it, playing it live seems strange to me.

I know I'll get kickback for this, but Chris and co. sound like they were going for AFTP R.E.M vibes, "everyone hurts, everyone cries" is even a reference to Everybody Hurts. I don't hear anything superficial or saccharine about this one, seems heartfelt. They can write songs like this easily.

Especially from their “The Take Off and Landing of Everything” period.

The whole dancer thing made think of this and now I can't un-think it: Coldplay has a tenfold better song on their hands with Orphans and the makings of it with a four-piece that does more than just act like a four-piece.

For me this is kinda a bummer. Chris said it’s not really 16 songs. There are a couple “voice memos” and short interludes. I was really hoping it was a full 16 track beast. I guess it makes sense that there has to be really really short tracks since it’s only 54 minutes or whatever.

As soon as we found out it was 54 minutes, it was clear there would be a couple of interludes on each side. It's disappointing not to get a full-on double-album, I agree, but including the bonus track that's still 13 full songs on this record; more than we've got from a studio album since Viva la Vida.

It’s weird this current trend of artists releasing “double” albums that aren’t really double albums. Most recently with Arcade Fire’s Reflektor and Vampire Weekend’s Father of the Bride. Those albums are actually much shorter than many of their previous albums.

For the love of God please no interludes like Kaleidoscope or Color Spectrum.

Funeral is 48, Neon Bible is 47, The Suburbs is 64, Everything Now is 47. Even if you take off the six-minute noise piece at the end of Supersymmetry, it's still their longest album.

After the CD era double albums became kind of irrelevant, in the past vinyls didn't have that much space to put songs, London Calling is a double album on the vinyl version, however it's a single disc on the CD version. Reflektor just doesn't feel like a double album, it's more like BHN, easily could have been a single CD, even The Suburbs feels more like a double album, nowadays if a band wants to do a double album then do it properly like Mellon Collie.

Alright, that's enough for me. Not listening to any more snippets or singles or teasers. Wanna have something rich to dive into after four years.

Reminds me of Led Zep III! Interesting. Everyday Life is shite though, can’t believe people are comparing to some of there former ballads. The vocals are irritating and the production fussy for a song that doesn’t warrant it.

Everyday Life feels like a tried and true Coldplay closer, so it'll make more sense in the context of the album, rather than on its own.
