Thanks a lot for taking the time to upload this whomever you are, it seems to me you are really one of the few bright spots in the fandom sharing stuff out with the rest of us. I think the very least you deserve is an appreciation thread of your own just as we had one for great contributors like Jim in the past
It started off promisingly, you can see the Dr John influence, but it's obviously a slight song built on a repetitive groove, and maybe it was intended as such to be an experiment without the powerful hooks present in "A dream is all I need..". Its too bad Noel couldnt take these influences and create something more memorable but, oh well. Roll on the David Holmes produced LP I guess.

Maybe the worst Oasis related tunes. Shockwave says hello I don't even like Shockwave that much but its nowhere near the worst.

I thought the Black Star Dancing EP was weak, but this one is super strong. They're all snapshots of Noel's creative process and the musical ideas he's grappling with.
To take them as anything more feels like taking them too seriously, far more seriously than Noel is taking them.

On first listen, it's a OK jam, a mix of "Keep on reaching" & drowsy Second Coming-era Stone Roses. Lacks a melody: as it is the groove doesn't really go anywhere. Ysée's vocals/wails didn't grate me much, maybe they'll grow more irritating after repeated listens, but it's indeed a shame that Noel doesn't make her sing better things. It's like hiring a good lead guitarist & relegating him to playing feedback in the background. I listened to the remix once as well, & I don't think I'll ever listen to it again. I'm not a fan of remixes anyway so didn't expect much from it. Or making him play bass and count how many shoes he's got on.

Hmm. Not feeling this. Sounds too much like they took Keep On Reaching, slowed it down and added a few things, especially because of the bassline and some of the vocal melodies. Weakest of the bunch for me.

Against the grain here but I quite like this! Nice guitar riff. It's an experimental B-side for sure.
If I was a wrestler this would be my walking on music right now 😂

I mean it sounds cool and moody and all but doesn't really go anywhere.

Great moody track and an even better remix. Would love to hear the entire WBTM album remixed this way. This reminds me of Paul McCartney's Fireman project. I agree.

I think this song would be better with no vocals or lyrics at all Yeah an instrumental mix or remix would be interesting.

A bit undercooked, a bit more development and it would be brilliant. But I like the vibe a lot. Wouldn’t mind seeing Noel really push this type of thing in another song.

Evil Flower’s my favorite of the EP songs so far - love that groove!

maybe this is how Keep On Reaching was supposed to be before the Holmes treatment I think I would have enjoyed it more. also without the musical theater bit. but I digress I prefer more moody tracks like this and less disco shit like HM or BSD

Finally got a chance to give this song a proper spin (or five) after work. Not sure it meets any of the previous descriptions. It isn't an Oasis throwback, it isn't Dr. John doing a New Orleans thing and it sure as shit isn't The Stone Roses, or at least the version of the Roses I picture in my mind. Feels like a studio jam session and evolved into this tune. Its ok and it is interesting. Not gonna blow my hair back or alter the course of rock history. Glad Noel is trying new things. That alone can only lead to more cooler ideas emerging.

Thanks igotflair. I think this works nicely to round out the ep. looking forward to listening to all the songs together tomorrow. It’s damn good to hear some prominent guitar on a NG track. I’m not familiar with Dr John but I get a little southern rock vibe in the guitar and I hear a bit of a second coming spirit in there. It sounded to me like ysee might be singing with Noel, not just his own voice double tracked.

Moses by the Stone Roses meets The Right Stuff.
I like it enough, but isn't a dirty infectious groove like Moses or mystic like The Right Stuff.

[quote author=" Lennon2217" source="/post/1601284/thread" timestamp="1569549245" it sure as shit isn't The Stone Roses, or at least the version of the Roses I picture in my mind. [/quote] The groove is a near exact lift from their b-side Moses, which is essentially the backing track for Begging You slowed down to a 33 1/3 tempo from a 45rpm pressing. It isn't well known and a hidden gem alongside Ride On, Breakout (an alternate jam based around BIH) and Groove Harder.

The more I listen to it the more I think it should have been left as an instrumental. I really, really like the groove.

Evil Flower (Friday 27th September). I’ll add the non-downloadable version in this thread tomorrow, Thursday, just after 1pm. It’ll probably get removed by Clyp very quickly as always, so if you want it sent to you by We. pm me and I’ll link you another way (Mods, I won’t break TOS) Who are you exactly? Gem’s wife I bet. In some way we are all Gem's wife

I don't even like Shockwave that much but its nowhere near the worst. I dont know, it feels too fabricated for me. I really tried to like it. But it ticks all the boxes of the song that is too perfect to be true. It's that girl with too much make up on.
