The Joker has got to be my favourite from this album, I love the gospel vibe it has, I wish it was on the main album.
I think it's the track that was bumped for 'electric', because Liam mentioned having one that sounded like Marvin Gaye a few times and the backing to this, and the overall feel, definitely fits.
weird words too, did he go to a school called St. Marks?
would have been a great summery single. another in the list of Liam's 'deluxe extras' that are far, far better than those that got on the 'album' track listing.
surprised it's not done live tbh.

I like The Joker but it's never really been one of my favourites on the album to be honest.

I still listen to the album and love it. Same with the first two also.
Feel so lucky my favourite music is doing something I love.

Well, it's been out for four months, and now that the dust has settled I think this one has the most consistent quality of any of his albums. Out of the thirteen tracks on the deluxe edition, there are only two that I just don't want to listen to, which ranks it right up near the top for Gallagher projects for me and is why I've listened to it so much; I've spent the back half of the summer listening to it on repeat.
The other two albums have a few highs that are higher (One of Us comes to mind), but also a lot more lows for me. The Liam-penned tunes on this one are solid to start with and have that patented Liam sincerity to them, and then are spruced up really beautifully by the production. I love the variety of things that he tries on this album. An entire album of any one of those might be a bit much, but in small doses I really enjoy them.
And if I include alternative versions, the live Knebworth version of Diamond in the Dark elevates that song to a new level and makes me appreciate the whole album a little bit more. I can't wait to hear the other COYK songs from that gig.
So after giving it some time and letting the shine wear off a little, this album is still a big hit for me.

It doesn't seem five minutes since the album was released and now it's four months. That's crazy.

A lot of people on this forum seem to really rate the album which is fair enough. I get the impression if you take away the pre-sales and knebworth hype the album hasnβt done very well at all. I havenβt heard liam himself say one good thing about it and i must admit i feel the same.Listened to it twice the first two days and havenβt bothered since. I always play any Gallagher related album loads the first week but i just find this album so poor

I still listen to Better Days, Diamond In The Dark and Everything's Electric regularly. They're all so good and are just the type of sound that I want from a Liam solo album. There are some other good songs on there as well but too many duds scattered in there which means I rarely play the album all the way through.
More Power is okay but got old fast, Don't Go Halfway is really poor, so it It's Not Meant To Be. I don't understand why people like Moscow Rules so much, it's pure filler, all 4 of those songs have weak vocals as well, they sound like he recorded them during the BE sessions. I'm Free was interesting when I first heard it but it's another weak song, I like Liam's voice on it though and Oh Sweet Children is such a boring, run of the mill nothing song, gotta be the most forgettable album closer he's ever done.
Having those duds spread throughout the album ruins the experience of listening to it for me. I'd rather it was front loaded like DOYS so i could just listen to the good songs in order and ignore the second half which is why I just stuck the good ones on a playlist like this
Diamond In The Dark C'mon You Know Better Days Everything's Electric Worlds In Need Too Good For Giving Up The Joker
7/13 isn't bad of course, but with a team of songwriters I don't expect throwaway songs, I'd rather just listen to a bad Liam written song instead of a throwaway filler song written by someone else, especially when it's clear from his performance that he doesn't have much passion for the song either.

I rank it slightly lower than the other two. Even if it's a more interesting album I think some parts feel undercooked. Moscow Rules is interesting but it lacks development, it's a nice idea and vibe wasted in an ok song. All of the ballads are kind of filler songs to me at this point, none of them are as big or good as Once or Paper Crown.
My favourites:
Better Days More Power The Joker Wave I'm Free
It really needed one or two heavier songs like The River or Gone.

I feel his albums are getting better. I like them all, but COYK is my favorite.
I guess the next thing from Liam will be Acoustic Sessions vol 2 (I hope 'Nothing Nowhere' is there!)
Then maybe the project with John Squire, if they manage to do something together.

I still love the album and have no complaints at all about it. And, I much prefer it over the other two albums even though I love them too.

You're not going to want your best songs to be an album track on an (albeit successful) late 40s rockstar's album.

It's hard to know deep down that Liam's solo career is way better than Noel's. When we can't admit it to ourselves we try to fill the forum with idiotic comments in order to make the right tons of criticism that Noel is receiving more bearable. It's like you're saying to yourself, "I'm sick of Liam currently being better than Noel and reading him all over the place. So now I'm writing nonsense against Liam to feel better when I'm in here."

Wow.... Did I touch your Liam fanboy nerve or something? Look - what I said is just MY opinion. Doesn't make it wrong or right. I happen to really enjoy EVERY Gallagher related album. It makes me sad that I don't like Liam's latest album. But it is what it is. It's comments like yours that makes this place the horrible place it can be at times. Grow up and learn to respect other people's opinions.

After a few months I can say that the album has disappointed me. There are few songs that I really like:
Diamond In The Dark Everything's Electric I'm Free The Joker
For me, it's by far his worst record. I can't even say why, that's just the way it is.
I have listened to WMWN again and I find it on another level, both as a writing and as a vocals.

Hope you don't mind me here I still think the first is his best Nothing groundbreaking, but there are some nicely written songs both in the heavier, guitar-driven departement and the softer one, and it's got two of the best things Liam's ever written in Bold and I've All I Need, catchy, fresh and honest I'd say my only real complaint are the attempts at cheesy, radio-friendly pop such as For What It's Worth and Paper Crown WMWN felt more like a playlist to me, and too much derivative, almost a "what should a Liam Gallagher record sound like?" kinda stuff Despite a great title track, a proper (albeit maybe a bit predictable) hymn in Once and some other nice songs, it's probably my least favourite This one is tricky, I like that in places they tried something new, but it felt like Wyatt and co. were more invested into it than Liam himself and some songs just lacked a real identity (Don't go Halfway, It Was Not Meant To Be, Oh Sweet Children) There are some things I really enjoy tho, Moscow Rules is top 3 in his solo career, Diamond In The Dark and The Joker are pretty damn good, Too Good For Giving Up again may not be a revolutionary ballad but there's a good, simple song in there For the future, I wish he either started to write more or went on the full darkish, cinematic vibe of Moscow Rules, even with more rock n roll tunes if he likes I think that song is a good compromise between a nice, varied and not cheap production and a catchy enough tune to stand on a pop-rock, major produced record
