Dunno about Squire but I'm sure he could at least play a decent guitar solo or something. Tbh I'm not sure what Gillespie could offer to Liam but I really like everything he's done with Primal Scream. Even Chaosmosis has a few bangers that are just as good as Liam's best work from AYW and WMWN. But that certainly doesn't mean their collaboration would work. And Primal Scream consistently inconsitent for the past 20 years? XTRMNTR, Beautiful Future, Evil Heat and maybe even More Light are all better and more consistent than every single Oasis album released in this century. The only one I don't like is Riot City Blues. I think the point was that these people could help Liam with the songs themselves. I love Squire but he's done nothing to show its someone Liam should be working with. I also love Primal Scream but just think they've been patchy (XTRMNTR is a beast of a record) I just think its easy to throw out names of various people but its considering what they would actuall bring to the table. Yeah i gotta agree with that. I'd prefer to see Squire in the band with him, touring and everything, and maybe then they could even work together but that will never happen so it's kinda pointless to talk about it. I dont think suddenly bringing him in the studio would be a good thing. I mean, I guess it could work but i doubt it'd be anything special.

If I listen to as you were and why me why not, in comparison for Liams songs kn As you were feel different. I hope he will take some time for number 3 and comes with his songs that just need a little icing on the cake like "i've all I need" this and his other songs just feel better and right. Why me why not lacks character and substance somehow. I hear clever songstructures but they don't let me feel something.when I heard the first lines of Universal gleam I felt Liam. When I hear allright I really get bored somehow although there are more things happening. I cant describe it. I just wanted why me why not to have more soul and I think most of the songs loseattraction within a few weeks. I get ur point but then again in Once i can feel that he means every word That and the river are the only songs I kinda feel. For once there is a liam demo so I guesd that is a genuine one that for the most part was written by him.

Why would he work with Ashcroft or scream or any one from the stone roses all are producing substandard work these days. I think he will continue in this vain for the rest of his career. He is a modern day rod Stewart\rolling stones these days playing to his fans and making well produced albums that appeal to middle age dads and Parka monkey kids. And that is really sad somehow

I'm anticipating this one, but he hasn't even started touring for the last.

Why would he work with an old and dry guy who did two half good records 20 years ago ? Go wild for the next one (he won’t)

He should work with us, forum members :-) That's fookin genius thought! Everyone interested could pitch some ideas (directions, instrumentations, full songs, whatever ideas different people have) and we could have a few elimination rounds and a final vote to get a couple of forum members to make an EP with him. It would genuinely be really interesting to see what would come out of it.

The third album needs to have a change of direction. As You Were was great but I got bored soon because we've heard almost the entire album before it was out and the hype died too soon because between the lead single and the album release. Plus the quality of the songs was great for a debut album but being honest he's been doing this stuff for 20 years. Why Me Why Not is the most solid record he's done in ages and it is really a step further. The songs are more detailed and the production is mega. For the third album there's no more steps left to take in this direction,he has to change the direction so people won't get bored. But he's in good hands.

I would personally love a balls out punk/ rock album as mentioned a wee while ago. Thinking Headshrinker, Bring it on down Greedy soul, Invisible sun and Shockwave kinda feel for me if I was in charge!

I want written by liam only songs again What do you mean again? Songs like "I've all I need". Sure he had help with them but I prefer stuff like Evil eye over co-written stuff like shockwave, wich in my ears feels very constructed.

Still absolutely loving WMWN but just listened to Headshrinker and when Liam said he wanted to do a punk-ish album, I'd be 100% up for a third album full of songs like Headshrinker. Thing is though, he's a happy 47 year old man. For all you might say his songs are written for him, it's hard to make songs like Headshrinker for a content 47 year old man. WMWN for me is Liam in a good place. It would be a hard album to make without it sounding forced. What has he got to be angry about? I guess songs like Greedy Soul is the way to go but to make a full album like that, not sure him or his team could do it.
Would be easy for him to sing live though. Just be shouting it all. In his element 😁

I'd like for Liam to take some time out and write some songs, he writes beautiful melodies, why not try and develop himself more? I enjoy the new record but it does seem manufactured and too soft for an artist like Liam, as in reality he may not have had a lot to do with the song writing. Fair enough he wants to secure himself financially with mainstream music and big gigs, but I miss the authenticity and edge he built his career on.

Well, WBTM is not a masterpiece but I'm thankful it happened because of tunes like She Taught Me How To Fly, The Man Who Built The Moon, Rattling Rose or A Dream Is All I Need To Get By. Imagine Liam doing something different. He has a whole team behind him to make sure he doesn't take the wrong steps so I think it will work

I don't think Liam is talented enough a musician to develop his songwriting any more than his current ability. He did the right thing trying to follow up AYW pretty quickly with a second record and I wouldn't mind him taking a bit more time out before the next one and write a few more tunes, but he is never going to get any more than half an album's worth of material by himself.

I thought it was part of the contract, that his label has more or less full control over what he releases, hence being as mainstream as it is? You're right though he'd still need a team to help him, I don't think he's nerdy enough around the studio.

I mean is he a big enough artist to be locked into a multi album deal? If it's only on an album by album basis then he has the freedom to do what he wants really within reason. It'll be interesting to see where he goes next. As much as he says he doesn't want to change he is smart enough to understand the rule of diminishing returns if he keeps on churning out the same thing.
