I wasn't a fan at the time but I remember that I was on holiday on a campsite in northern Italy and because my parents bought the Bild-Zeitung (German scum newspaper), I was able to read this the day after the split: "Bruderhass sprengt Skandalband" ("Fraternal hatred blasts scandalous band")

As a massive oasis fan, I’m still not sure who’s fault it was the band broke up. Was it Noel’s fault for leaving because Liam had become intolerable? Or did Noel just want a solo career? Or Liams for pretty green ?

I still maintain that if Noel wasn’t assaulted on stage, Oasis would not have split. I think this for many reasons, but for one just imagine being in that much physical pain and trying to tolerate Liam being Liam - do not underestimate how much pain shortens tolerance and being on a short fuse would be expected. Completely agree and have said that for years, since Noel's victim statement where he said he'd been in constant pain throughout the tour. It fits in with Liam's "we had an argument but we've had much bigger arguments before" stuff. But who knows. In hindsight it seemed inevitable that they'd split - Noel looked miserable throughout the tour and had the same shit pre-rehearsed crowd interaction about the "5th and final drummer" (which turned out to be true), Liam seemed permanently angry and we now know there'd been tension dating back to Liam's wedding. But I remember posting on here when people were speculating on here after they'd pulled out of the V-Festival that they'd survived beating each other up with cricket bats so would survive anything 15 years down the line. It came as a complete surprise when Noel released the statement. I always thought they'd go off and do their own thing then get back together 5 years later. I think it's safe to assume they'll never reform now. |

We also have the photos of Noel's broken guitar from that night. One forum member also knew someone on their label who had their opinion about the event and commented on it after Noel's first press release. I think most of these can be found by digging these forums and SCYHO news blog. It's also worth noting that stories change over time, too. Originally Noel claimed Liam was furious for no reason and later on admited he had quipped about Liam's guitar playing before the fight and later broke Liam's guitar (IIRC after Liam had broken his). |

I'm guessing their spouses and ex-spouses know some bits and pieces. Bodyguards, etc. |
