It makes you wonder what Oasis would've released in the past 10 years and which direction the music had taken.
Would Liam have worked as hard with his voice to where it is now or would we be on Kermit Mach 3?
Would Noel have "invented" a parka-friendly form of cosmic pop?
Would Andy be playing the scissors?

I think if they hadn't of split up in 2009 they definitely would have around 2016 once Liam heard Noel's new cosmic pop and I'm not 'aving this rubbish and left, but he gets the old band back together and reforms The Rain possibly.

Was anyone really surprised? That DOYS tour was coming apart behind the scenes. Noel's tour diary was hinting at it in late 2008. Firing of a tour manager or some shit. Noel staying at different hotels from the band. Noel traveling alone between gigs. The signs were there.

It makes me feel old. Remember it like it was yesterday. Driving home after a holiday in Italy, getting a text message from a mate that Oasis had split up. My first reaction was "yeah sure, that's the 4th time then". It was pre smartphone days so I couldn't check what was going on.

It is now officially twice as long ago that Oasis split as it was the year I first started considering myself an Oasis fan. Technically, that's not a long time - half a decade - but still those five years make up a little more than a quarter of my lifetime to this date... Time flies...

I had a lot of denial, as I’m sure we all did - “ah Noel’s done this before he’ll be back”, we tried to reassure ourselves. But deep down we all knew that this time was different.

The funny coincidence about the band splitting on August 28th is that on August 28th, 2000, Noel began the last gig of the SOTSOG tour at the Leeds Festival by proclaiming "Sorry to say this ladies and gentlemen, but this isn't the f****** funeral". I guess it was just delayed a bit  . |

I was surprised that they split up. Falling out, storming off during a tour, etc, was normal for Oasis. In saying that, having seen Oasis live from the glory days right through, there was definitely something missing on the DOYS tour - they were going through the motions in the gigs that I attended, which did worry me slightly.
Even when the statement from Noel landed I thought it was heat of the moment. That they might disappear for a few years then pick it up again. I guess it finally sunk in for me when they started doing their other projects.

I was living out in Australia at the time and a mate of mine text me and I was a bit like ‘meh Noel’s walked out plenty of times before so didn't think much of it’.
Then when it appeared it was genuine, I was quite relieved to be honest. I saw them at the NEC around the time DOYS came out and quite frankly they were shite! You could see from a mile off that something was seriously wrong. In fact I’m amazed it took almost another year for them to call it a day.
Seems mad it was 10 years ago though

I'm just happy i got to see them one time in Portugal before they split months later. Would probably be one of my biggest regrets in terms of being a music fan had i not gone to that concert.
