I was surprised that they split up. Falling out, storming off during a tour, etc, was normal for Oasis. In saying that, having seen Oasis live from the glory days right through, there was definitely something missing on the DOYS tour - they were going through the motions in the gigs that I attended, which did worry me slightly. Even when the statement from Noel landed I thought it was heat of the moment. That they might disappear for a few years then pick it up again. I guess it finally sunk in for me when they started doing their other projects. Heat of the moment eh? That's a good name for song!

At first I thought it was just another fight and the band would reunite at some point, also an excuse for that five years break that Noel badly wanted.
Later I realised it was for the better, their hearts weren't in it anymore.

For the first few years I think i felt their absence.
Beady Eye were terrible and Noel's solo career was good enough but not that great to me.
It's only until Liam's solo career took off that Oasis weren't missed to me.

I played Roll It Over really loud when I found out.Had a moment. Moved on. Still mad fer it 10 years on.
The output of music has been phenomenal from BOTH since though.
However Would I like 1 more Oasis album? YES.

We all want to hear some Noel written songs sung by Liam again really.
The ones off DOYS were all good.
They never dipped in that combination in DOYS.

Liam being asked about the break-up today. He won't be signing Foo Fighters' petition to get Oasis back.

I have pretty good memory but I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember at all what I was doing or how I found out about the split. Maybe I blocked it

Maybe I blocked it Same, I dont even think I knew until a few days later when I got an email from oasisnet. First i'd tought it would be just a break as usual but then I saw the full statement and that was out of the window. The singer from Bloc Party is a vagina and now is one of two members remaining in his band from that day, and less relevant than ever funny how things work.

I still maintain that if Noel wasn’t assaulted on stage, Oasis would not have split.
I think this for many reasons, but for one just imagine being in that much physical pain and trying to tolerate Liam being Liam - do not underestimate how much pain shortens tolerance and being on a short fuse would be expected.

I had been sleeping all day. And when I woke up, there was a message from my friend on my phone saying, "Where the hell is Jessica during all this?!". Had no clue what she was on about. And when I found out, I just went back to bed and probably binge watched a bunch of interviews and performances when I got up again.

I had tickets for the concert at Rock am See in Konstanz, Germany. The night of the 28th, I was playing a small concert with my old band in Austria. I was supposed to catch an early morning train from this small village where the concert took place to team up with some Oasis fans from Vienna on the train and than start the booze and party on our way to Konstanz together.
As it was 2009, I didn't have a smartphone yet and network reception in this small village was horrible. However, our drummer received a message at 2am telling me Oasis split up. I didn't believe him at first after the couple of beers I had at the concert venue. Desperately tried to get some network reception and checked some WAP-based websites for news about the split, which cost a fortune in those days.
Finally found some credible news website and I needed more beers to absorb the shock. In the end, I decided not to go to Rock am See, it wasn't worth all the effort and journey for me and I was too disappointed.
10 years after, this night is still a very vivid memory for me.

10 years later, some good songs have been done by the brothers. I made a playlist like that : 1. "AKA... what a life!" by NGHFB 2. "Shockwave" by LG 3. "Soul Love" by BE 4. "Lock all the doors" by NGHFB 5. "For what it's worth" by LG 6. "One of us" by LG 7. "She taught me how to fly" by NGHFB 8. "The roller" by BE 9. "Sail on" by NGHFB 10. "Wall of glass" by LG 11. "The death of you and me" by NGHFB 12. "The beat goes on" by BE 13. "Everybody is on the run" by NGHFB 14. "Millionaire" by BE 15. "Chinatown" by LG 16. "The dying of the light" by NGHFB 17. "Ballad of the mighty I" by NGHFB 18. "Shine a light" by BE I listened those songs all the day While I wouldn’t have chosen all the same songs as you did, you make a great point: we’ve had a lot of great and interesting music to enjoy that we might never have gotten if they hadn’t split. I’m ok with them not reuniting the band again but it would be nice if Noel and Liam could make peace with each other. It will be nice to see them happy with each other again.

Was anyone really surprised? That DOYS tour was coming apart behind the scenes. Noel's tour diary was hinting at it in late 2008. Firing of a tour manager or some shit. Noel staying at different hotels from the band. Noel traveling alone between gigs. The signs were there. Took some videos that night. I was a little surprised but only because they were so close to the end of the tour. Had the announcement been made just after, I wouldn’t have been surprised at all.

9-10 years ago I created a thread on the old NGHFB or Beady Eye site official forums about a Noel and Liam reunion checklist, where they'd stop being sour with each other and start to play music together again, indicating an imminent reunion.
Boy was that a waste of time.

I was in Baltimore on a baseball trip. Came back from a game to see a Facebook post on my wall about it. Then I essentially sat on l4e in my hotel for hours reading about it. Sad times. I remember it was right before 3rd year uni was going to start. And it was sad because the year before going into second year, I was buzzing because I was going to see them in concert for the first time since I was 9. And that concert turned out to be the one where Noel got attacked. Crazy what one year can do.

I know this has been talked about at length, but I always wonder exactly how Oasis 8 would have turned out. I remember before the break up, there was an interview where Noel said he already had most of the next album recorded or at least demoed or something. And it was going to be a concept album which we later learned was going to full of titles such as Ride the Tiger aka What a Life and Fallen Angel aka Broken Arrow.
I'm intrigued to know what from NGHFB would have been booted for the inevitable LAG contribution, aka Beady Eye. A lot of DGSS was stuff Noel had been rejecting for years, like the Roller. So would LAG's contributions have been something we had never heard? Would he have forced them to write something they never ended up writing? And how far along exactly was Oasis 8 and when on the DOYS tour did they take time to start it?
So many questions. They must be answered!

Only just realised they split on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the release of Definitely Maybe.
Sad, but nice symmetry.
