There is another angle. It may have been bought by Noel's camp to be released or reworked for future? A stretch I know but possible and plenty money there. I hope it’s the New Year’s Day gift.

Rolling Stone has an interesting article on the world of rare music recording collectibles and what can happen if the recording is shared publicly: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/guns-n-roses-chinese-democracy-fans-leaks-axl-rose-1234645804/. The article does a nice job of showing the balance between how the rarity of the recording is what causes its value and the desire of the fandom to share and hear everything that an artist has worked on. Obviously, you should take the outcome in this story with a grain of salt, as Axl Rose and Geffen have proven to be very litigious over the years, but it's not a stretch to see Oasis or Sony take similar action if unreleased songs were shared broadly on the Internet, as opposed to live versions of songs that are already out there. This is most likely why the previous owner backed off from sharing it with this community, as he wouldn't have been able to control what we all did with it.

^ Holy shit, this article. It's about a hundred times more interesting than the actual record.
