I actually cringed watching the new Noel Video. The decline is tremendous, he really needs someone in his circle to tell him that the new stuff and direction is horrific. This is the Place? Is that the one with the horrible music video.. all those crap Noel songs run together... Can't believe my favorite song writer of all time has fell this far. It just properly isn't, though. It's good. Some of it very good. And I'd rather him be doing that than treading old ground. So people like it, and others don't. One Of Us is a great tune and real genuine quality. It's up there with TITP as my favourite Gallagher song from this cycle so far. Hope there's more of this, and less of predictable by the numbers songs like Once on the album.

Tbh guessing it just sounded good and fit the song. It's a pretty vague song. The only lyrics that really reference Oasis are 'Live Forever' and 'Kid'. I doubt it's really about anything - which is what makes a great song imo.

Has anyone made out the lyrics in the first verse? The "You and gurdy said, with a smoke ring round your heads" line?

I see that Wyatt has edited his insta post to change the reference to DM writing the lyrics to 'helping to finish the song'. I do wonder at what stage Damon become involved. Maybe just tweeked the lyrics at the end to make them flow better. Maybe they are Liam's lyrics originally then.

There really seems to be a big emphasis on how they want the public to perceive what Liam has written. Like for AYW, especially when Noel was constantly digging at him for writing nothing, he never once rebuted that and said actually i've written most the album. I think most of us would do that. He was very laid back about it all and seemed happy for people to think he hadn't written any. Same now seems to apply for this album. It appears on the surface he's done very little, but then we get snippets of information that sound like he's done a fair bit. Wish he'd be a bit more open about it but i think his confidence in his own ability has taken such a knock that he doesn't actuallywant the spotlight to be on his own songwriting anymore.

I guess it makes sense, if he reacted to Noel's digs by saying but look what I've wrote then Noel would just come back with 'yeah but look at what I've wrote'. Liam would never win that comparison. Far easier to just shrug his shoulders and agree that he isn't a songwriter but a great singer. That way if Noel, or anyone else wants to carry on the argumenthe he is on safe ground where he feels confident.

I think it refers to Nöel Coward and Gertrude Lawrence (high culture theatre, see Nöel and Gertie) - also the smoke rings.... quite a character it seems...😯 “That was the end of it too with Noël Coward, who appeared at breakfast in an elegant dressing gown, smoking a de Reske cigarette in a long silver holder and exhaling perfectly rounded smoke rings. ‘Tell me, dear boy,’ Coward murmured, ‘is your bum available this morning?’ ‘No, Mr Coward,’ Faulkner answered bravely. ‘Not this or any other morning. I’m a plunger, not a poofter.’ ‘What a tragedy! Ah well, life is full of disappointments.’” Anyway, where’s our video(s) slack arse 🙃

I get you, but i just feel like there's been an obvious tactic by liam's team to emphasise the other songwriters input. It seemed like their way of pitching the idea that the album was obviously so much better than BE, because it wasn't Liam writing it. I found it strange that not even an interviewer asked noel why he was saying Liam hadnt written any.

It's usually just clickbait journalism looking for headlines.

While I find the lyrics pretty pony the groove and swing is fantastic, Parker Kindred did a hell of a job. Fire Dan and hire him!

If only One Of Us was actually a ballad...
They've clearly meant to use this for Once and then just thought fuck it One Of Us will do.

Damn this looks to have been a pretty pricey affair.
Meanwhile in Noel's new video he looks like he's in a Tim & Eric skit.

Shooting & editing the video, what else? Personally speaking if i was filming a video for a specific song, id still release it for that specific song. If it took me a while, i wouldn't just say ahh fuck it lets put the latest single on there instead. Thats assuming theres any kind of artistic integrity from the directors ot course. Probably just happy to have the money and fuck off.

Liam tweeted that they filmed the video for One Of Us, not Once. And the director also directs Peaky Blinders, I'm sure he has artistic integrity.
